The purpose of this study was to determine whether food insecurity and housing instability are mediators and/or moderators of the relationship between maternal depression when children are age 3 and children's problem behaviors at age 9 and to determine whether these mechanisms differ by race/ethnicity. We used data from the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study. Food insecurity and housing instability at age 5 were tested as potential mediators and moderators of the relationship between maternal depression status at age 3 and problem behavior at age 9. A path analysis confirmed our hypothesis that food insecurity and housing instability partially mediate the relationship between maternal depression when children are age 3 and problem behavior at age 9. However, housing instability was only a mediator for externalizing problem behavior and not internalizing problem behavior or overall problem behavior. Results of the moderation analysis suggest that neither food insecurity nor housing instability were moderators. None of the mechanisms explored differed by race/ethnicity. While our findings stress the continued need for interventions that address child food insecurity, they emphasize the importance of interventions that address maternal mental health throughout a child's life. Given the central role of maternal health in child development, additional efforts should be made to target maternal depression.Peanut red spider mite, Tetranychus ogmophallos, exhibits a peculiar dispersal behavior using silk balls, which involves clustering of mites and spinning of webs at the top of plants. Such a dispersal mechanism has not been studied for this species yet. Therefore, this study aimed at using mathematical models to describe aerial dispersal and silk ball formation of peanut red spider mite on peanut plants. The influence of wind speed, generated by a wind tunnel, on the dispersal of mites was studied in two experiments, one with 500 mites per plant and one with 1000 mites per plant, and six wind speeds (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 km h-1) for each mite density. The proportion of displaced mites and the distance they were blown were measured. Another series of experiments considered the formation of silk balls to assess how fast balls were formed as a function of time and the number of mites present on a peanut plant. Data from the wind tunnel experiments were analyzed by logistic regression and multiple regressiontion of dispersal distances. The models describing silk ball formation also described data very well. Ball size was found to increase almost linearly with the number of mites found in the ball. However, the capability of microarthropods to shift their trophic niches is little studied. Whereas some studies based on stable isotopes (15N/13C) point to distinct and narrow trophic niches, others indicate that trophic niches are plastic. Here, we investigated shifts in trophic niches of oribatid mites (Oribatida, Acari), a major soil detritivore microarthropod group, due to forest management, i.e., plantation of beech and spruce forests in Central Europe, using neutral lipid fatty acid (NLFA) markers. Due to differential microbial communities, we expected a fungi-based diet of oribatid mites in beech forest, but more bacterial contributions to the diet in spruce forest. Supporting these hypotheses, NLFA markers indicated that the trophic niches of each of the studied oribatid mite species differed between beech and spruce forests and shifted from feeding predominantly on litter and fungi in beech forest to more intensively feeding on bacteria in spruce forest. Oribatid mite species with the most pronounced differences in trophic niches included Achipteria coleoptrata, Eupelops hirtus, Eupelops plicatus and Liacarus xylariae, which had been classified as primary or secondary decomposers in previous studies. Overall, the results indicate that the ability of oribatid mite species to colonize different habitats and ecosystems is due to their ability to adjust their diet, i.e., to trophic plasticity. The research reported here sought to understand what distinguishes low- and high-performing organizations in building and using capacity to provide MOUD. As part of a mixed methods MOUD implementation trial, semi-structured telephone interviews were conducted with personnel from low- and high-performing MOUD-providing organizations. Seventeen individuals from 17 organizations were interviewed. Findings demonstrate the importance of individual, organization, and community-level factors in supporting the building and use of MOUD capacity. Low- and high-performing organizations showed different patterns of facilitators and barriers during the implementation process. The key difference between low- and high-performing organizations was the level of organizational functioning. A better understanding of an organization's assets and deficits at the individual, organizational, and community levels would allow decision-makers to tailor their approaches to MOUD implementation.Individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs) who engage in post-withdrawal management (or detoxification) continuing care are more likely to remain drug free or sober and less likely to be incarcerated or die of overdose. Yet, just 21-35% of individuals receiving emergency withdrawal management services receive continuing care. This deficiency is occurring, while overdose rates are high, and limited evidence exists on how to improve this vital transition. To address this gap, withdrawal management service providers employed the LINK Care Transition Implementation System to improve withdrawal management to continuing care transition rates. This system integrates three evidence-based implementation science approaches (a) practice bundle, (b) process checklist, and (c) standardized organizational change model. This integrated implementation approach improved withdrawal management to continuing care transition rates from 20 (baseline average) to 43% (post-intervention) in (n = 6) Wisconsin withdrawal management centers.
