'Some Like it Hot' (59)While a bit long, this is probably Wilder's greatest comedy and one of the most widely praised in cinema history. It is a riotous romp and a testament to Wilder's fearlessness as a director.

'The Seven Year Itch' (1955)

A more toned down version of the stage play, Wilder and Monroe reunite for a film that is full of laughs but also a great example of how he was willing to re-work material in his own mind. It's a fun romp with some good moments and Monroe is in great form.

'Irma La Douce' (63).

While not as good as Wilder’s classic ‘The Apartment’, this reteaming of Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine is still an enjoyable romantic comedy. It combines a self-righteous gendarme and a Parisian prostitute with some nice humour.
