Samsung Fridge Freezers With SmartThings

Samsung's Family Hub refrigerator combines an impressive 389 litre fridge and an 225-litre freezer. It's a huge American-style model that has high-quality temperature control and a dazzling array of features that are smart.

It's customizable thanks to removable panels and you can create one that is perfectly matched to your collection of tie-dye Crocs and matte black Rick Owens clothing.

All-Round Cooling

In refrigerators equipped with All Round Cooling, separate cooling circuits are used to keep your food fresher. In conventional fridges, one cooling evaporator cools both the freezer and refrigerator compartments. This usually means that the low humidity air from your freezer is circulated into your fridge and it can cause your foods to dry out. This can make them taste bland and unpleasant.

Each shelf is equipped with multiple vents that circulate cool air. This helps maintain a consistent temperature even when you open and shut the door of your fridge.

Optimal Fresh Zone keeps meats and fish fresher for up to twice as long as in conventional refrigerators, without freezing them. This feature is an exciting option for anyone who enjoys cooking, but isn't keen on the hassle of defrosting frozen fish or meat.

All Round Cooling employs an All Round Cooling metal cooling plate at the back of the refrigerator to keep cold air and avoid the loss of it when you open the door. It also reduces the requirement for power defrosting, which saves you both time and money.

The ice dispenser on Samsung refrigerators is among the most efficient we've ever tested. The patented Twist Ice Maker dispensing large cubes is dispensed with an easy twist and can be kept below the fridge when not in use. This allows for more space on the shelf and makes it easy to locate your favourite beverages and snacks.

With Reversible Doors You can select the direction that your fridge or freezer opens. It is easy to fit your fridge into the layout of your kitchen while maintaining it neat and clean.

Samsung's Family Hub is the central control for your SmartThings connected home through the large touchscreen on your fridge. It can show a live video feed from your smart doorbell, order groceries based on an automated inventory or suggest recipes that use what you have in stock.

The flex drawers on the bottom of Samsung refrigerators are a clever storage solution that makes it easier to store larger items such as canned drinks or pizza trays. They can be flipped down when not in use and folded flat to use up less space. This is a fantastic option for those who love to bake and cook, but have limited fridge space.

FlexZone

The Samsung FlexZone side by side fridge freezer has a unique 3-zone system that allows you to add an additional refrigerator compartment or freezer drawer. This flexibility allows you to modify your fridge freezer to best fit your needs and storage requirements. It also makes it simple to upgrade to a larger or smaller fridge with the addition of a FlexZone module.

Additionally, it has an anti-fingerprint coating that helps keep the surface looking fresh. The fridge also includes an external water and ice dispenser to make life easier.

This fridge features the FlexZone bottom-right compartment that can be converted into a freezer or refrigerator. This lets you store items such as ice cream, bags frozen vegetables, meat, or fish in the freezer. samsung refrigerator performed well in our tests too however the absence of voice control and SmartThings integration on the 21.5-inch touchscreen was an opportunity missed.

There's plenty of space to store food in the refrigerator's other drawers, including two crisper drawers and a flexible middle FlexZone drawer. This drawer lets you pick between five different settings based upon your requirements for the fridge-freezer compartment. These include the freeze setting that is compatible with the freezer settings and a soft freeze setting for wine or deli trays, a meat and fish setting as well as a beverage setting for snacks, drinks and frequently accessed items.

This Samsung FlexZone side-by-side refrigerator is an ideal choice for families that are looking for the convenience of having a fridge and freezer in one. It's not as spacious than the top-of-the-line French door models, however it has plenty of useful features and is a great alternative for those who have small kitchens.

The Samsung Fridge Freezer is also an extremely energy efficient refrigerator, thanks to its digital inverter technology. This technology regulates the temperature inside the fridge so it doesn't change too much, and helps keep your food fresher for longer. Its energy efficiency has earned the Energy STAR Certification.

SmartThings

SmartThings isn't quite the platform that Alexa and Google Assistant are however it does offer a lot of smart devices that you can connect to. It's also baked into Samsung smartphones, tablets and TVs - plus some fridges. This could be enough to justify it for some, especially if you have multiple Samsung products.

The SmartThings app is a bit polished and well rounded and comes with a 'if x then y' automated section that works surprisingly well. You can set up things such as an alarm that goes off when sensors for water leaks detect flooding, or turning on lighting when your phone detects that you're at home. It could even control your refrigerator by connecting it to a smart plug though we've had mixed results with that.

SmartThings requires a hub, which isn't inexpensive. Samsung offers a variety of options that include the SmartThings Station that you can connect to the router and use as a nightlight. There's also a less expensive SmartThings Hub Dongle that supports Z-Wave and Zigbee and Thread, with Thread support coming soon.

Once you've got your smart fridge, smartphone and hub connected it's easy to use. The SmartThings app lets you control your fridge from any location and sends notifications to your phone when it's closed or opened. You can create schedules, set the temperature and even create reminders.

SmartThings was one of the founding members of the Home Connectivity Alliance. This alliance is working to make major home appliances made by different manufacturers compatible. In the near future you can control your Samsung washer/dryer, Electrolux oven, and LG TV through the same application.

While samsung refrigerator 's not as widely used as Alexa or Google Assistant, SmartThings does have some major players on its list that include Arlo, Nest, Belkin and Lifx. It's compatible with Matter protocol that allows accessories to be connected regardless of the brand. For samsung refrigerator of people however, combining Alexa and Google Assistant voice controls is probably the best option.

Family Hub

A fridge freezer isn't much more modern than this: it's equipped with an LCD display of 21 inches inside the door, and comes with a myriad of clever features. You can access entertainment apps, write notes for family members (think big digital version of a notebook that's stuck to the fridge) and check for weather updates and more, all thanks Samsung's own voice activation assistant, Bixby.

The touchscreen lets you manage your food and recipes. You can add ingredients directly from an app and check out what's inside your fridge using internal cameras. You can make grocery lists on the move and track food items to check their expiration dates. You can use a recipe app to read the recipe while cooking.

Samsung has spent the entire year working on the Family Hub fridges based on feedback from customers. One major change is that you can now set different profiles for every member of your household so they can tailor the apps and information they have access to. It's not quite as good as having Alexa integration integrated into your fridge but it's an improvement on the previous model.

In addition to its ability to manage grocery and entertainment, Family Hub also acts as an interface for Samsung's SmartThings platform. It can onboard Matter-compatible devices, such as lights and plugs and can be used with the touchscreen to control them.

Samsung's refrigerator is a few years old, and while it still has a lot of functionality but its touchscreen features aren't something that majority of people would consider an essential feature. They're more fun and a bit of frivolous extras than anything else.

This may change with the release of more software updates, but for now these models are the best for those who wish to have the most complete connected refrigerator that is possible. If you're not one of them, you can choose a lower-cost model without the Family Hub to save some money. It could be worth it in the event that you own a lot of smart home appliances that need to be controlled from the same screen, or if you enjoy the idea of having an appliance with a massive touchscreen.
