ctice.Dothideomycetes is the largest class of kingdom Fungi and comprises an incredible diversity of lifestyles, many of which have evolved multiple times. Plant pathogens represent a major ecological niche of the class Dothideomycetes and they are known to infect most major food crops and feedstocks for biomass and biofuel production. Studying the ecology and evolution of Dothideomycetes has significant implications for our fundamental understanding of fungal evolution, their adaptation to stress and host specificity, and practical implications with regard to the effects of climate change and on the food, feed, and livestock elements of the agro-economy. In this study, we present the first large-scale, whole-genome comparison of 101 Dothideomycetes introducing 55 newly sequenced species. The availability of whole-genome data produced a high-confidence phylogeny leading to reclassification of 25 organisms, provided a clearer picture of the relationships among the various families, and indicated that pathogenicity evolved multiple times within this class. We also identified gene family expansions and contractions across the Dothideomycetes phylogeny linked to ecological niches providing insights into genome evolution and adaptation across this group. Using machine-learning methods we classified fungi into lifestyle classes with >95 % accuracy and identified a small number of gene families that positively correlated with these distinctions. This can become a valuable tool for genome-based prediction of species lifestyle, especially for rarely seen and poorly studied species. © 2020 Westerdijk Fungal Biodiversity Institute. Production and hosting by ELSEVIER B.V.Nearly 500 basidiomycetous yeast species were accepted in the latest edition of The Yeasts A Taxonomic Study published in 2011. However, this number presents only the tip of the iceberg of yeast species diversity in nature. Possibly more than 99 % of yeast species, as is true for many groups of fungi, are yet unknown and await discovery. Over the past two decades nearly 200 unidentified isolates were obtained during a series of environmental surveys of yeasts in phyllosphere and soils, mainly from China. Among these isolates, 107 new species were identified based on the phylogenetic analyses of nuclear ribosomal DNA (rDNA) [D1/D2 domains of the large subunit (LSU), the small subunit (SSU), and the internal transcribed spacer region including the 5.8S rDNA (ITS)] and protein-coding genes [both subunits of DNA polymerase II (RPB1 and RPB2), the translation elongation factor 1-α (TEF1) and the mitochondrial gene cytochrome b (CYTB)], and physiological comparisons. Forty-six of these belong to 16 genera in the Tremellomycetes (Agaricomycotina). The other 61 are distributed in 26 genera in the Pucciniomycotina. Here we circumscribe eight new genera, three new families and two new orders based on the multi-locus phylogenetic analyses combined with the clustering optimisation analysis and the predicted similarity thresholds for yeasts and filamentous fungal delimitation at genus and higher ranks. Additionally, as a result of these analyses, three new combinations are proposed and 66 taxa are validated. © 2020 Westerdijk Fungal Biodiversity Institute. Using a perspective based on quality of life and well-being in different ecological systems, it is argued that the process of introducing the Bill is the "heat" which has ignited the "fuels" represented by 12 pre-existing and new issues in quality of life and well-being. These issues included distrust in the Central Government, lack of national identity, political dissatisfaction, economic strains, mental health threats, drop in family quality of life, lack of life skills education, lack of evidence-based national education in the formal curriculum, slow response of the Government, and alleged excessive use of force by the police. The fire has been intensified by "four strong winds", including disinformation and misinformation, anonymity of the protesters, public support for the students, and support given by parties outside Hong Kong. Possible solutions in terms of promotion of quality of life and well-being with reference to the fire triangle are discussed. © The Author(s) 2020.We present a case of a 16-year-old boy who underwent 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT for residual disease assessment of juvenile nasal angiofibroma. Positive uptake was noted in residual tumor on PET/CT imaging. However, there was no abnormal uptake in surrounding scar tissues as compared with contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging. These findings were confirmed by biopsy from the scar tissue on posterior ethmoids. 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT may be a potentially valuable tool especially in distinguishing recurrences from surgical site reparative tissue and in planning and delivering stereotactic radiotherapy. © Korean Society of Nuclear Medicine 2019.Although prostate cancer can metastasize to any part of the body, laryngeal cartilage metastasis is extremely rare and few cases have been published so far. Here we present the case of a 65-year-old male patient, recently diagnosed with prostate adenocarcinoma, referred for staging with 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT. He was found to have extensive skeletal metastasis along with cartilage metastasis involving both thyroid and cricoid cartilages. © Korean Society of Nuclear Medicine 2019.A 33-year-old man was evaluated because of an incidentally found cyst in the pancreatic tail, which was first seen 6 years ago. The cyst was a unilocular cystic mass, 13.0 cm in diameter, and had increased in size in last 2 months. On F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG PET/CT), the cystic wall showed increased FDG uptake. The patient underwent distal pancreatectomy with suspicion of mucinous cystic neoplasm of the pancreas. The mass turned out to be a squamous carcinoma arising from an epidermoid cyst in an intrapancreatic accessory spleen (ECIPAS). FDG PET/CT may assist recognition of a potential malignant lesion arising from an ECIPAS. © Korean Society of Nuclear Medicine 2019.
