Using logistic regression and controlling for confounding variables such as socioeconomic status, age, sex or ethnicity, we find that individuals with worse metabolic health (measured on average eleven years prior to 2020) have an increased risk for COVID-19-related death (adjusted odds ratio 1.75). All literature from the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), PubMed, and Clinical Trials was searched, and the language was limited to English. Two reviewers independently assessed study eligibility, continuous data extraction, and independent assessment of bias risk. Our primary outcomes were alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and triglyceride levels, while our secondary outcomes were high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels, body weight, BMI, and fasting glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels.

After long-term in vivo assays, made during the 3-month pre-reproductive period of this species, both formulated and technical glyphosate were able to produce a significant incidence of oocyte reabsorption in the ovary, together with a concomitant decreased of vitellogenin content, at concentrations ranging from 0.2 to 1 mg/L. Despite this, after 32-day in vivo assays, glyphosate stimulated oocyte growth, in terms of a higher percentage of vitellogenic oocytes, suggesting that glyphosate could be acting as an endocrine disruptor. In vitro assays made with isolated ovarian pieces showed a decrease of vitellogenin content, in correlation with lower protein synthesis, although some advance in maturation was observed in the histological analysis. In male crabs exposed in vivo to both technical and formulated glyphosate at 1 mg/L, several reproductive imbalances were noted, such as a significant decrease of the sperm count, abnormal spermatophores, and possible disrupting effects of glyphosate on the androgenic gland.

We therefore performed an observational study of women's reproductive health over the course of the pandemic thus far.

An anonymous digital survey was shared by the authors

social media in September 2020. All women of reproductive age were invited to complete the survey.

1031 women completed the survey. Mean age was 36.7 ± 6.6 years (range, 15-54). 693/70% reported recording their cycles using an app or diary. 233/23% were using hormonal contraception. 441/46% reported a change in their menstrual cycle since the beginning of the pandemic. 483/53% reported worsening premenstrual symptoms, 100/18% reported new menorrhagia (p = 0.003) and 173/30% new dysmenorrhea (p < 0.0001) compared to before the pandemic. 72/9% reported missed periods who not previously missed periods (p = 0.003) and the median number of missed periods cessing healthcare (254/25%), change in financial (201/19%) situation, difficulties with home schooling (191/19%) or childcare (99/10%), family or partner conflict (170/16%), family illness or bereavement (156/15%).

Some alternative therapies, such as Src family kinase inhibitors, have failed presumably because other signaling pathways compensate for their effects. In the last ten years, it has been proven that sex hormones such as progesterone (P4) can induce growth, migration, and invasion of glioblastoma cells through its intracellular progesterone receptor (PR), which is mostly known for its role as a transcription factor, but it can also induce non-genomic actions. These non-classic actions are, in part, a consequence of its interaction with cSrc, which plays a significant role in the progression of glioblastomas. link3 We studied the relation between PR and cSrc, and its effects in human glioblastoma cells. Our results showed that P4 and R5020 (specific PR agonist) activated cSrc protein since both progestins increased the p-cSrc (Y416)/cSrc ratio in U251 and U87 human glioblastoma derived cell lines. When siRNA against the PR gene was used, the activation of cSrc by P4 was abolished. The co-immunoprecipitation assay showed that cSrc and PR interact in U251 cells. P4 treatment also promoted the increase in the p-Fak (Y397) (Y576/577)/Fak and the decrease in p-Paxillin (Y118)/Paxillin ratio, which are significant components of the focal adhesion complex and essential for migration and invasion processes. A siRNA against cSrc gene blocked the increase in the p-Fak (Y576/Y577)/Fak ratio and the migration induced by P4, but not the decrease in p-Paxillin (Y118)/Paxillin ratio. We analyzed the potential role of cSrc over PR phosphorylation in three databases, and one putative tyrosine residue in the amino acid 87 of PR was found. Our results showed that P4 induces the activation of cSrc protein through its PR. The latter and cSrc could interact in a bidirectional mode for regulating the activity of proteins involved in migration and invasion of glioblastomas.

It is uncertain whether the treatment of mild gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) improves pregnancy outcomes. The aim of this systemic review and meta-analysis was to investigate the effect of mild GDM treatment on adverse pregnancy outcomes.

A comprehensive literature search was conducted on the databases of PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar to retrieve studies that compared interventions for the treatment of mild GDM with usual antenatal care. The fixed/random effects models were used for the analysis of heterogeneous and non-heterogeneous results. Publication bias was assessed using the Harbord test. Also, the DerSimonian and Laird, and inverse variance methods were used to calculate the pooled odds ratio of events. The quality assessment of the included studies was performed using the Modified Newcastle-Ottawa Quality Assessment scale and the CONSORT checklist. In addition, the risk of bias was evaluated using the Cochrane Collaboration's tool for assessing risk of bias.

The systematic review and meta-analysis involved ten studies consisting of 3317 pregnant women who received treatment for mild GDM and 4407 untreated counterparts.
