The Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum

The most effective robot vacuums that self-empty come with an underlying container that can hold a full month's worth debris and empty it automatically. It also makes a detailed map of your home, allowing you to label rooms and create "no-go" zones.

It has superior obstacle avoidance abilities, too, so it will keep out of power cords and rogue socks.

iRobot Roomba s9+

This is among the best models offered by iRobot and certainly performs well. It is able to move effortlessly across a variety of surfaces, and is extremely efficient at sucking dirt, dust and other debris up. It's also very well-built and looks pretty good too.

The S9 is the latest iRobot premium S Series robot vacuum. It boasts a few extra features that help it different from other models. The iRobot App use, for instance, the camera to create maps that assists the robot to navigate and clean effectively.

It will also return to the location where it started if its battery is depleted during cleaning, so you don't have to spend time cleaning the same spots. You can also start and stop cleaning sessions using an easy voice command or through the iRobot app. This smart vacuum can even clean in the dark!

Another excellent feature is Carpet Boost, which gives the S9 an extra suction force when it encounters carpeting to collect even more dirt and debris. The unit also has the square front design, which is more close to walls and corners as opposed to the earlier round designs. This model is not compatible well with high-pile or shag carpeting.

During our tests, we discovered that the iRobot S9+ cleaned thoroughly and efficiently a range of floor surfaces, including hard and medium-pile carpets. It also performed well with tiles, vinyl flooring, and laminate floors. It also did a nice job of navigating between furniture and objects although it did struggle with stairs, and can crash into objects like bookcases.

We liked the fact that the S9 automatically returns to its base to empty its trash bin when it's full, which significantly minimizes the need to be hands-on with maintenance. The dust bag should last for about 30 loads or a month and half. It's recommended to replace the filter on a regular basis (as suggested by iRobot). The iRobot S9+ is not extremely loud when it's operating making it a great option for families with pets or children.

Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

Created to eliminate one of the most tedious tasks off your hands, robotic vacuum cleaners do all the hard work to get carpeted and hardwood floors free of the everyday dirt. The most effective ones can be monitored and controlled via apps for smartphones, and some even have mopping tech for bathroom and kitchen floors. They're an excellent choice for busy families and are becoming more affordable. However, if you want the latest features for your robotic vacuum cleaner, you're going to have to spend a bit more.

The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid is a complete vacuum and mopping machine making it a great choice for those who live in a home with multiple floors. Its dual motors offer incredible cleaning power, and the vacuum's 0.6l dustbin can hold plenty of pet hair. The dustbin is easily removed and empty, which is great because you'll be required to do this regularly.

It's also easy to set up, though I recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid prior to running it for the very first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the instructions to connect it to your WiFi network. The app will help you draw a map of your home. You can label the rooms, divide large areas into sub-rooms to make it easier to open-plan living, and help direct the X8 Hybrid towards specific areas that need to be cleaned at a specific time. There are mop robot vacuum that have similar mapping and scanning functions, but Eufy's application feels more refined and intuitive than other models.

A great feature on the X8 Hybrid is that you can start the mop or vacuum using your voice, thanks to integration with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. This is a nice feature that makes the robot more hands-free. It was a success in our test house.

The X8 Hybrid, like many robotic vacuums, has issues with flooring that is not clean. It may miss pet hair and small objects, and is more likely to hit things, like its own charger on the base of its charging. It's also not as quiet, and the whirring noise can be distracting as with other models.

Roborock V3S pro

This model isn't as feature-rich as some of the more expensive models we've tested but it does come with the essentials. It has a huge enough dust bin to hold plenty of dirt until it needs emptying and its vacuum and mop system is great for carpets with low pile and hard floors. It's also extremely quiet and we could watch TV while it was cleaning without feeling like it was bombarding us with the sound.

Our test subjects were impressed with how easy it was to set up and use, and were impressed with its ability to get all the mess off their flooring. It even did a pretty excellent job of removing pet hair and other messes that get on carpeting, though it was not as effective in removing stubborn staining. The app was easy to use and intuitive. They could program the vacuum to clean frequently to cut down on manual work. The only drawback is that it doesn't include any mapping technology or object avoidance, which means you aren't able to send it to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundary strips are compatible).

Another model from the iRobot's budget line that is the V3S Pro has some impressive features for its price. It was the best robot vacuum we tested for mapping and avoiding obstacles. It's also a great budget option for those who want a smarter, self-emptying robotic vacuum that is able to handle hair and pet messes on hardwood floors and carpets with low pile. It is also very quiet and comes with a large dust bin which can hold plenty of debris before it has to be empty.

Although the V3S Pro didn't earn a spot in any of our top choices roundups from trusted sources that perform hands-on tests, it got high marks from reviewers from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews, and The Ambient. They were impressed with how easy it was to setup and use, however they also noted that its battery life was very short and it was unable to stay clear of some of the toughest mess we've put it through.

Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo is an entry-level robot vacuum cleaner that provides a wide range of features at a fair cost. You'll find many of the features found on the top models, like smart navigation and mapping, without spending top dollar. You can make use of voice commands with Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple Siri shortcuts for custom automations, and to start your cleaning routine while you are away.

Roborock has taken its time to design this smart cleaner. The result is that the product is exceptionally sturdy and feels as if it was made with premium materials. The base is sturdy and solid with the charging port built into the battery. There's a docking station for the tank that is clean and the dirty-water bins above. There's also a panel beneath the dock that houses the vacuum bag that is sealed.

After you've paired your device with the app, you'll be able to see a 2D or 3D map of your home, which shows the location of where your robot is situated and the area it's cleaning. You can also build virtual barriers to ensure that your robot isn't in certain areas or only clean certain types of flooring. It's also able to adjust its power settings according to the kind of floor being cleaned, as well as selecting the most effective method of cleaning.

In contrast to other robot vacuums that are available, the Q Revo is able to lift up both of its mops as it vacuums to avoid staining your carpet fibres. It's actually one of the few vacuums that can do this.

When mopping, the Q Revo's 5500Pa suction powers can be enough to take out dust particles or pet hair strands, and other debris. The all-rubber brush works well to disentangle human and animal hair as it adapts to uneven surfaces.

Its only downside is that it takes some time to fill and empty the water tanks, both clean and dirty. Luckily, you can reduce the frequency of this by using the auto-empty feature, which will automatically empty the container after a couple of days. It is still necessary to monitor the levels of water on the dock manually however, since there's no way to set an automatic reminder.
