In orchards, the sensitivity of canines increased with lesion incidence, whereas the specificity and overall accuracy was >0.99 across all incidence levels; i.e., false positive rates were uniformly low. Canines also alerted to a range of 1-12-week-old infections with equal accuracy. When trained to either Xcc-infected trees or Xcc axenic cultures, canines inherently detected the homologous and heterologous targets, suggesting they can detect Xcc directly rather than only volatiles produced by the host following infection. Canines were able to detect the Xcc scent signature at very low concentrations (10,000× less than 1 bacterial cell per sample), which implies that the scent signature is composed of bacterial cell volatile organic compound constituents or exudates that occur at concentrations many fold that of the bacterial cells. The results imply that canines can be trained as viable early detectors of Xcc and deployed across citrus orchards, packinghouses, and nurseries. In this paper, we propose a deterministic secure quantum communication (DSQC) protocol based on the BB84 system. We developed this protocol to include quantum entity authentication in the DSQC procedure. By first performing quantum entity authentication, it was possible to prevent third-party intervention. We demonstrate the security of the proposed protocol against the intercept-and-re-send attack and the entanglement-and-measure attack. Implementation of this protocol was demonstrated for quantum channels of various lengths. Especially, we propose the use of the multiple generation and shuffling method to prevent a loss of message in the experiment.Usual estimation methods for the parameters of extreme value distributions only employ a small part of the observation values. When block maxima values are considered, many data are discarded, and therefore a lot of information is wasted. We develop a model to seize the whole data available in an extreme value framework. The key is to take advantage of the existing relation between the baseline parameters and the parameters of the block maxima distribution. We propose two methods to perform Bayesian estimation. Baseline distribution method (BDM) consists in computing estimations for the baseline parameters with all the data, and then making a transformation to compute estimations for the block maxima parameters. Improved baseline method (IBDM) is a refinement of the initial idea, with the aim of assigning more importance to the block maxima data than to the baseline values, performed by applying BDM to develop an improved prior distribution. We compare empirically these new methods with the Standard Bayesian analysis with non-informative prior, considering three baseline distributions that lead to a Gumbel extreme distribution, namely Gumbel, Exponential and Normal, by a broad simulation study.Deep hashing is the mainstream algorithm for large-scale cross-modal retrieval due to its high retrieval speed and low storage capacity, but the problem of reconstruction of modal semantic information is still very challenging. In order to further solve the problem of unsupervised cross-modal retrieval semantic reconstruction, we propose a novel deep semantic-preserving reconstruction hashing (DSPRH). The algorithm combines spatial and channel semantic information, and mines modal semantic information based on adaptive self-encoding and joint semantic reconstruction loss. The main contributions are as follows (1) We introduce a new spatial pooling network module based on tensor regular-polymorphic decomposition theory to generate rank-1 tensor to capture high-order context semantics, which can assist the backbone network to capture important contextual modal semantic information. (2) Based on optimization perspective, we use global covariance pooling to capture channel semantic information and accelerate network convergence. In feature reconstruction layer, we use two bottlenecks auto-encoding to achieve visual-text modal interaction. (3) In metric learning, we design a new loss function to optimize model parameters, which can preserve the correlation between image modalities and text modalities. The DSPRH algorithm is tested on MIRFlickr-25K and NUS-WIDE. The experimental results show that DSPRH has achieved better performance on retrieval tasks. When studying the behaviour of complex dynamical systems, a statistical formulation can provide useful insights. In particular, information geometry is a promising tool for this purpose. In this paper, we investigate the information length for n-dimensional linear autonomous stochastic processes, providing a basic theoretical framework that can be applied to a large set of problems in engineering and physics. A specific application is made to a harmonically bound particle system with the natural oscillation frequency ω, subject to a damping γ and a Gaussian white-noise. We explore how the information length depends on ω and γ, elucidating the role of critical damping γ=2ω in information geometry. selleck chemical Furthermore, in the long time limit, we show that the information length reflects the linear geometry associated with the Gaussian statistics in a linear stochastic process.'Every Earthquake a Precursor According to Scale' (EEPAS) is a catalogue-based model to forecast earthquakes within the coming months, years and decades, depending on magnitude. EEPAS has been shown to perform well in seismically active regions like New Zealand (NZ). It is based on the observation that seismicity increases prior to major earthquakes. This increase follows predictive scaling relations. For larger target earthquakes, the precursor time is longer and precursory seismicity may have occurred prior to the start of the catalogue. Here, we derive a formula for the completeness of precursory earthquake contributions to a target earthquake as a function of its magnitude and lead time, where the lead time is the length of time from the start of the catalogue to its time of occurrence. We develop two new versions of EEPAS and apply them to NZ data. The Fixed Lead time EEPAS (FLEEPAS) model is used to examine the effect of the lead time on forecasting, and the Fixed Lead time Compensated EEPAS (FLCEEPAS) model compensates for incompleteness of precursory earthquake contributions.
