INTERVENTIONS The patient underwent left temporal and parietal lesions total resection with a craniotomy. OUTCOMES The diagnosis of PDLM was established according to pathological characteristics and the negative finding of positron emission tomography (PET)-computed tomography (CT) outside CNS. The patient got no further treatment for economic reasons and experienced the progression and died 5 months after operation. LESSONS PDLM is extremely rare in CNS, as the clinical manifestation, radiological changes are not special, early diagnosis is difficult. The confirmed diagnosis is established by leptomeningeal biospy or surgical tissue. Sulbactam pivoxil PET-CT can help differential diagnosis with metastastic leptomeningeal melanomas. The prognosis is dismal due to the inefficiency of chemotherapy or radiotherapy.Recent large observational studies of antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody-associated vasculitis (AAV) show that severe infection is a major cause of death and that the majority of infections occur during the early phase of initiating remission-induction therapy. Many risk factors for severe infection have been suggested, but these have been inconsistent. Nevertheless, infectious risk factors in elderly patients with AAV have not been adequately investigated in previous studies. In this retrospective observational study, we examined potential predictors of severe infection within 90 days (early severe infections) after remission-induction therapy in patients with AAV aged 65 years or older. We included 167 consecutive elderly patients with AAV admitted to our hospital. Data from medical history and remission-induction therapy were analyzed for predictive risk factors associated with early severe infections. The relationship between initial doses of corticosteroids and cumulative incidence of severe infectio mortality rate within 6 months (P  less then  .001).Our findings suggest that initial high-dose corticosteroids and renal impairment at diagnosis are associated with a higher risk of early severe infections and early death in elderly patients with AAV.Circular RNAs (circRNAs), a widespread type of noncoding RNA, are produced by reverse splicing with a circular loop structure. Circ_VCAN (hsa_circ_0073237) acts as a novel circRNA, although its roles in the progression and radioresistance of glioma remain unknown.Expressions of circ_VCAN and microRNA-1183 (miR-1183) were analyzed by quantitative real-time PCR, and the functions of circ_VCAN and irradiate in glioma cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion were assessed using cell counting kit-8, flow cytometry, Wound healing, and Transwell assays. The interaction between circ_VCAN and miR-1183 was validated dual-luciferase reporter assay. Our results revealed that circ_VCAN was significantly upregulated in radioresistant glioma tissues compared with radiosensitive tissues, and that circ_VCAN expression was negatively correlated with miR-1183 expression in glioma tissues. We also determined that circ_VCAN expression was decreased and miR-1183 expression was increased in U87 and U251 cells after irradiation. Both knockdown of circ_VCAN and treatment with miR-1183 mimics inhibited proliferation, migration, and invasion, and accelerated apoptosis of the irradiated U87 and U251 cells. In addition, luciferase reporter assays revealed that circ_VCAN might function as a sponge for miR-1183. Finally, overexpression of circ_VCAN expedited carcinogenesis and reduced glioma radiosensitivity by regulating miR-1183.Circ_VCAN serves as a potential oncogene of glioma by regulating miR-1183, and plays an essential role in the radioresistance of glioma.INTRODUCTION KIAA0586 variants have been associated to short-rib thoracic dysplasia, an autosomal recessive skeletal ciliopathy characterized by a narrow thorax, short limbs, and radiological skeletal abnormalities. PATIENT CONCERNS Patients 1 and 2 were two Roma Gypsy siblings presenting thoracic dysplasia and a combination of oral cavity anomalies. DIAGNOSIS A custom NGS gene panel, including genes associated to skeletal ciliopathies, identified the homozygous KIAA0586 splicing variant c.1815G>A (p.Gln605Gln) in both siblings, confirming the clinical diagnosis of short-rib-polydactyly. INTERVENTION Patients were transferred to neonatal intensive care unit and received life-support treatment. OUTCOMES Patients 1 and 2 died after few hours and 1 month of birth, respectively, because of respiratory failure related with the disease. CONCLUSION We report two patients affected by short-rib polydactyly syndrome and overlapping phenotype with oral-facial-digital syndrome associated with the c.1815G>A variant in KIAA0586, suggesting a quite peculiar genotype-phenotype correlation. To verify the validity of functional health literacy scale and analyze what influences functional health literacy.Using convenience sampling method based on cross-sectional data to select 589 left-behind senior high-school students in an ethnic minority area, using the functional health literacy scale. The scale results were relatively strong, and the absolute fitness index, value-added fitness index, and simple fitness index reached the fitness standards. The overall functional health literacy score was (0.65 ± 0.12), which falls within the upper middle class. Gender(t = 2.40, P  less then  .05), ethnicity (t = 4.28, P  less then  .001), place of residence (t =  = 4.51, P  less then  .001), mother's education level (F = 3.608, P  less then  .05), self-assessment of grades for 1 year (F = 25.781, P  less then  .001), and whether the participant liked the health education content (F = 9.416, P  less then  .001) had impacts on overall functional health literacy. The study results show that relatively satisfactory reliability and validity and can be applied further analysis for improving students functional health literacy levels.BACKGROUND Shenmai injection (SMI) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine patent prescription consisting of extractions from ophiopogonis radix and ginseng radix rubra. Clinical studies showed that SMI combined with conventional medicine treatment (CMT) can enhance the therapeutic efficacy for dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). However, there is still a lack of comprehensive and systematic evidence, which urgently requires us to verify its therapeutic efficacy. Hence, we provide a protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS The systematic search on the MEDLINE/PubMed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang database, VIP database, the Cochrane Library, Embase and Chinese Biomedical Database (CBM) in Chinese and English language with dates ranging from the earliest record to August 8, 2019. Next, the quality of each trial was assessed according to the criteria of the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions. Then, the outcome data were recorded and pooled by RevMan 5.3 software.
