Evidence for the relationship between various behavioral traits and opioid SA in the preclinical literature is limited. With the possible exceptions of sensitivity to opioid agonist/withdrawal effects and stress reactivity, predictors of individual differences in SA of other drugs of abuse (e.g. sensation-seeking, impulsivity) do not predict vulnerability to opioid SA in rats. A multifactorial etiology has been implicated in the development and maintenance of vestibulodynia (VBD), and atrophic changes of the vestibular mucosa have been observed in many patients.
To assess the vestibular mucosa thickness in patients with VBD by comparing this sample with a control group of healthy fertile women and postmenopausal patients with symptoms of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM).
Vestibular mucosa thickness was measured with a 20MHz ultrasound probe (DermaScan C, Cortex Technology, Denmark), including both the epidermis and dermis.
All women were evaluated by anamnesis, physical examination, and self-report symptoms. Thickness of the vestibular mucosa (expressed in micrometers) was determined by the B-mode, excluding the hyperechogenic entrance echo and hypoechogenic subcutis. Clinical data related to VBD and GSM were recorded using a 0- to 10-point visual analog scale related to dyspareunia and vulvar pain/burning (0=no pain; 10=worst possible pain).
A total of 85 patients with VBD have a vestibular mucosa with a lower thickness than healthy women of the same age, with an almost identical value to that found in postmenopausal women. Furthermore, a low vestibular mucosa thickness in the VBD and GSM groups showed a significant correlation with burning/pain intensity and dyspareunia severity. Plaque incision and graft (PIG) is suggested for the treatment of significant Peyronie's disease (PD), but most surgeons perform very few PIG surgeries annually, and the number of PD cases requiring PIG is inadequate to maintain the necessary skills and completely master the procedure.
To develop and validate a new 3D-printed model of a curved penis and graft to simulate PIG surgery. This is the first PIG surgical training simulator described in the medical literature.
A 3D-printed model of the corpora cavernosa with a 60-degree curvature and an associated urethra was created using a flexible filament of thermoplastic polyurethane. Twenty-two urologists from Brazil were recruited to perform simulated surgery on the 3D model. The participants included 12 senior-level and 10 trainee-level urologists.
Evaluation of the device was based on a 15-item questionnaire using a 5-point Likert-type scale for each item.

Sex Med 2021;9100318.This study assesses the potential of Uniform Manifold Approximation and Projection (UMAP) as an alternative tool to t-distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE) for the reduction and visualization of visible spectral images of works of art. We investigate the influence of UMAP parameters-such as, correlation distance, minimum embedding distance, as well as number of embedding neighbors- on the reduction and visualization of spectral images collected from Poèmes Barbares (1896), a major work by the French artist Paul Gauguin in the collection of the Harvard Art Museums. The use of a cosine distance metric and number of neighbors equal to 10 preserves both the local and global structure of the Gauguin dataset in a reduced two-dimensional embedding space thus yielding simple and clear groupings of the pigments used by the artist. The centroids of these groups were identified by locating the densest regions within the UMAP embedding through a 2D histogram peak finding algorithm. These centroids were subsequently fit to the dataset by non-negative least square thus forming maps of pigments distributed across the work of art studied. All findings were correlated to macro XRF imaging analyses carried out on the same painting. The described procedure for reduction and visualization of spectral images of a work of art is quick, easy to implement, and the software is opensource thus promising an improved strategy for interrogating reflectance images from complex works of art.Raman spectroscopy (RS) has been used as a powerful diagnostic and non-invasive tool in cancer diagnosis as well as in discrimination of cancer and immune cells. In this study RS in combination with chemometrics was applied to cellular Raman spectral data to distinguish the phenotype of T-cells and monocytes after incubation with media conditioned by glioblastoma stem-cells (GSCs) showing different molecular background. For this purpose, genetic modulations of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process and expression of immunomodulator CD73 were introduced. Principal component analysis of the Raman spectral data showed that T-cells and monocytes incubated with tumour-conditioned media (TCMs) of GSCs with inhibited EMT activator ZEB1 or CD73 formed distinct clusters compared to controls highlighting their differences. Further discriminatory analysis performed using linear discriminant analysis (LDA) and support vector machine classification (SVM), yielded sensitivities and specificities of over 70 and 67% respectively upon validation against an independent test set. Supporting those results, flow cytometric analysis was performed to test the influence of TCMs on cytokine profile of T-cells and monocytes. We found that ZEB1 and CD73 influence T-cell and monocyte phenotype and promote monocyte differentiation into a population of mixed pro- and anti-tumorigenic macrophages (MΦs) and dendritic cells (DCs) respectively.
