 + 200mg/kgd VC). Except for the control group, the other three groups were freely drinked with 2% dextran sodium sulfate solution for 4days. And the control group was free to drink distilled water. The following cell groups were used control group (SW480 cells wie intestinal mucosal barrier, and promote the repair of damage to the cell mucosal barrier.

Coronary stents are routinely placed in the treatment and prophylaxis of coronary artery disease (CAD). Current coronary stent designs are prone to developing blockages in-stent thrombosis (IST) and in-stent re-stenosis (ISR). This is a systematic review of the design of current coronary stent models, their structural properties and their modes of application, with a focus on their associated risks of IST and ISR. The primary aim of this review is to identify the best stent design features for reducing the risk of IST and ISR. To review the three major types of stents used in clinical settings today, determining best and relevant clinical practice by exploring which types and features of offer improved patient outcomes regarding coronary angioplasty. This information can potentially be used to increase the success rate of coronary angioplasty and stent technology in the future taking into account costs and benefits.

Many studies reported the essential role of hypoxia in regulating invasiveness, angiogenesis, vasculogenic mimicry and response to therapy in melanoma. Melanoma is an aggressive cancer originating from melanocytes located in the skin (cutaneous melanoma), in the uveal tract of the eye (uveal melanoma) or in mucosal membranes (mucosal melanoma). These three subtypes of melanoma represent distinct neoplasms in terms of biology, epidemiology, aetiology, molecular profile and clinical features.In this review, the latest progress in hypoxia-regulated pathways involved in the development and progression of all melanoma subtypes were discussed. We also summarized current knowledge on preclinical studies with drugs targeting Hypoxia-Inducible Factor-1, angiogenesis or vasculogenic mimicry. Finally, we described available evidence on clinical studies investigating the use of Hypoxia-Inducible Factor-1 inhibitors or antiangiogenic drugs, alone or in combination with other strategies, in metastatic and adjuvant settings of cutaneous, uveal and mucosal melanoma.Hypoxia-Inducible Factor-independent pathways have been also reported to regulate melanoma progression, but this issue is beyond the scope of this review.As evident from the numerous studies discussed in this review, the increasing knowledge of hypoxia-regulated pathways in melanoma progression and the promising results obtained from novel antiangiogenic therapies, could offer new perspectives in clinical practice in order to improve survival outcomes of melanoma patients.

Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a heterogeneous group of hematopoietic malignancy, has been shown to present different cytogenetic abnormalities, risk factors, and clinico-hematological features in different populations and geographic areas. Herein, we determined the cytogenetic spectrum and clinico-hematological features of Iranian MDS patients for the first time.

This prospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 103 patients with MDS in Ahvaz, southwest of Iran, from 2014 to 2018. Clinical presentations, complete blood counts (CBC), and bone marrow (BM) biopsy samples were assessed. Perls' staining was used to evaluate BM iron storage. The cytogenetic evaluation was performed using the conventional G banding method on the BM.

Patients' median age was 62.3 (ranged from 50-76), and the majority were male (72.8%). The most common clinical symptom at the time of admission was fatigue (n = 33) followed by pallor (n = 27). The most common subgroup was MDS-Multi Lineage Dysplasia (MDS-MLD) (n = 38, 36.world. Our study is the first report of the clinical, hematological, and cytogenetic spectrum of MDS patients in Iran.

Thyroid neoplasms with follicular architecture can have overlapping morphologic features and pose diagnostic confusion among pathologists. Various immunohistochemical stains have been investigated as potential diagnostic markers for PTC, among which HBME1 and CK19 have gained popularity. Non-invasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary-like nuclear features (NIFTP) poses similar diagnostic challenges with interobserver variability and is often misdiagnosed as adenomatoid nodule or follicular adenoma. This study aims to evaluate expression of HBME1 and CK19 in NIFTPs in comparison to other well-differentiated thyroid neoplasms and benign mimickers.

Seventy-three thyroid cases diagnosed over a period of 3 years at Methodist University Hospital, Memphis, TN, USA, were included in this study 9 NIFTP; 18 papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC); 11 follicular variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma, invasive (I-FVPTC); 24 follicular adenomas (FA); and 11 multinodular goiters/adenomatoid nodules (MNG). Although recent policies have sought to increase the rates of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) and continued breastfeeding for HIV exposed infants, few programs have considered the multiple social and cultural barriers to the practice. Therefore, to generate evidence for exclusive and continued breastfeeding policies in Kenya, we examined community perspectives on the facilitators and barriers in adherence to EBF for the HIV positive mothers.

Asian/Pacific Islander (API) communities in the United States often reside in metropolitan areas with distinct social and environmental attributes. Residence in an ethnic enclave, a socially distinct area, is associated with lower gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) risk, yet exposure to high levels of air pollution, including volatile organic compounds (VOCS), is associated with increased GDM risk. We examined the joint effects of ethnic enclaves and VOCs to better understand GDM risk among API women, the group with the highest prevalence of GDM.

We examined 9069 API births in the Consortium on Safe Labor (19 hospitals, 2002-2008). API ethnic enclaves were defined as areas ≥66th percentile for percent API residents, dissimilarity (geographic dispersal of API and White residents), and isolation (degree that API individuals interact with another API individual). High levels of 14 volatile organic compounds (VOC) were defined as ≥75th percentile. Four joint categories were created for each VOC Low VOC/Enclafit of ethnic enclaves warrants further study.

API residence in non-enclave areas is associated with higher GDM risk, regardless of VOC level. Ethnic enclave residence may mitigate effects of VOC exposure, perhaps due to lower stress levels. The potential benefit of ethnic enclaves warrants further study.

Most of the natural extracellular matrix (ECM) is a three-dimensional (3D) network structure of micro/nanofibers for cell adhesion and growth of 3D. Electrospun fibers distinctive mimicked 2D ECM, however, it is impossible to simulate 3D ECM because of longitudinal collapse of continuous micro/nanofibers. Herein, 3D electrospun micro/nano-fibrous sponge was fabricated via electrospinning, homogenization, shaping and thermal crosslinking for 3D tissue regeneration of cells and vascular.

Fibrous sponge exhibited high porosity, water absorption and compression resilience and no chemical crosslinked agent was used in preparation process. In vitro studies showed that the 3D short fiber sponge provided an oxygen-rich environment for cell growth, which was conducive to the 3D proliferation and growth of HUVECs, stimulated the expression of VEGF, and well promoted the vascularization of HUVECs. In vivo studies showed that the 3D short fiber sponges had a good 3D adhesion to the chronic wound of diabetes in rats. Furthermore, 3D short fibrous sponges were better than 2D micro/nanofiber membranes in promoting the repair of diabetic full-thickness skin defects including wound healing, hair follicle regeneration, angiogenesis, collagen secretion.
