Gremlin1 (GREM1) is a highly studied BMP antagonist, and we will focus on this molecule in particular and its role in cancer. Moreover, alkaline phosphatase expression and iron accumulation were reduced in dental epithelial cells in Smad4 cKO mice. Relevant articles were retrieved from PubMed, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library, and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), VIP (Chinese) database. Results A total of 21 studies met our inclusion criteria. Meta-analyses suggest that mask use provided a significant protective effect (OR = 0.35 and 95% CI = 0.24-0.51). Use of masks by healthcare workers (HCWs) and non-healthcare workers (Non-HCWs) can reduce the risk of respiratory virus infection by 80% (OR = 0.20, 95% CI = 0.11-0.37) and 47% (OR = 0.53, 95% CI = 0.36-0.79). The protective effect of wearing masks in Asia (OR = 0.31) appeared to be higher than that of Western countries (OR = 0.45). Masks had a protective effect against influenza viruses (OR = 0.55), SARS (OR = 0.26), and SARS-CoV-2 (OR = 0.04). In the subgroups based on different study designs, protective effects of wearing mask were significant in cluster randomized trials and observational studies. If it can be successfully used in clinical trials, it will effectively assist doctors to develop personalized cancer treatment programs and expand the application of molecularly targeted drugs.Background The aim of this study is to establish the initial safety of triple neuroprotection (TNP) in an acute stroke setting in patients presenting outside the window for systemic tissue plasminogen activator (tPA). Methods Over 12,000 patients were referred to our vascular services with carotid artery disease, of whom 832 had carotid intervention with a stroke rate of 0.72%. Of these, 25 patients presented (3%), between March 2015 and 2019, with acute dense stroke. These patients had either failed tPA or passed the recommended timing for acute stroke intervention. Fifteen (60%) had hemi-neglect with evidence of acute infarct on magnetic resonance imaging of the brain and a Rankin score of 4 or 5. Ninety-six percent had an 80-99% stenosis on the symptomatic side. Mean ABCD3-I score was 11.35. All patients underwent emergency carotid endarterectomy (CEA) with therapeutically induced hypothermia (32-34°C), targeted hypertension (systolic blood pressure 180-200 mm Hg), and brain suppression with barbiturate. Results There were no cases of myocardial infarction, death, cranial nerve injury, wound hematoma, or procedural bleeding. Mean hospital stay was 8.4 (±9.5) days. All cases had resolution of neurological symptoms, except 3 who had failed previous thrombolysis. Eighty percent had a postoperative Rankin score of 0 on discharge and 88% of patients were discharged home with 3 requiring rehabilitation. Conclusions Positive neurological outcomes and no serious adverse events were observed using TNP during emergency CEA in patients with acute brain injury. We recommend TNP for patients who are at an increased risk of stroke perioperatively, or who have already suffered from an acute stroke beyond the recommended window of 24 hr. Occlusion of renal branches may be necessary to seal the aneurysm sac efficiently. Depending on the size of the affected renal arteries and the supplied parenchyma, this can lead to loss of renal function. Iliac branch devices (IBDs) have been created in order to preserve the internal iliac artery in aortoiliac or isolated iliac aneurysms; however, IBDs have the potential to maintain patency of other arteries as well. This case report describes the off-label use of an IBD inside the main body of a bifurcated endoprosthesis in a patient with an AAA and multiple renal arteries in order to preserve the main renal artery that emerges directly out of the aneurysm sac. Special considerations such as limited craniocaudal dimensions for endoprosthesis placement and the reduced vascular space are discussed.A spontaneous fistula between a ruptured common iliac artery aneurysm and the ileal pouch neobladder is quite rare. We present the case of a 74-year-old man presenting with intense abdominal pain and massive hematuria. Computed tomography angiography revealed a ruptured common iliac artery aneurysm-ileal pouch neobladder fistula. His hemodynamics was unstable; emergent endovascular aortic repair was performed successfully. Infection and dysfunction of the neobladder were avoided owing to appropriate management.
