Attending physical education classes was positively associated with physical activity among adolescents regardless of sex or age group. While a popular hypothesis states that observable traits may help promote cooperation, the alternative explanation that they facilitate coordination has gained ground in recent years. Here we explore this possibility and present a model that investigates the role of ethnic markers in coordination games. In particular, we aim to test the role of reinforcement learning as the microscopic mechanism used by the agents to update their strategies in the game. For a wide range of parameters, we observe the emergence of a collective equilibrium in which markers play an assorting role. These results extend and complement previous work focused on agent imitation and show that reinforcement learning is a good candidate to explain many instances where ethnic markers influence coordination.The levels of the gonadal hormones estradiol and progesterone vary throughout the menstrual cycle thereby affecting cognition, emotion, mood, and social behaviour. However, how these hormones modulate the balance of neural excitation and inhibition, which crucially regulate processing and plasticity, is not fully understood. We here used paired-pulse stimulation to investigate in healthy humans the action of low and high estradiol and progesterone on intracortical inhibition in somatosensory (SI) and visual cortex (V1). We found that paired-pulse suppression in both SI and VI depended on estradiol. During high estradiol levels, paired-pulse suppression was significantly reduced. No comparable effects were found for progesterone, presumably due to a confounding effect of estradiol. Also, no hormone level-depending effects were observed for single-pulse evoked SEPs (somatosensory evoked potentials) and VEPs (visual evoked potentials) indicating a specific hormonal action on intracortical processing. Finding a theranostic agent capable to cure the affected cells and being safe for the healthy ones is the key for successful treatment. Here, we demonstrate that agglomerated single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are promising theranostic agent that enables photo-activated 'cold' destruction of the cancer cells keeping their environment alive. The absorption of picosecond pulses by SWCNT agglomerates results in the mechanical (due to photoacoustic effect) rather than photothermal cancer cell destruction, which was visualized by micro-Raman and ultrafast near-infrared CARS. The developed theoretical model allows us to distinguish photothermal, photoacoustic, and photothermoacoustic regimes of the cancer cell destruction, and also to optimize SWCNT-based theranostics recipe.In this study, a Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) modeling was done for the reactor core divided into square lattice 8 × 8 type using the Monte Carlo Method. Each of the square lattices in the reactor core was divided into small square lattices 7 × 7 type in groups of four. In the BWR designed in this study, modeling was made on fuel assemblies at pin-by-pin level by using neptunium mixed fuels as fuel rod, Zr-2 and SiC as fuel cladding, H2O as coolant. In fuel rods were used NpO2 and NpF4 fuels at the rate of 0.2%-1% as neptunium mixed fuels. In this study, the effect on the neutronic calculations as keff, neutron flux, fission energy, heating of NpO2 and NpF4 fuels in 0.2%-1% rates, and Zr-2 and SiC clads were investigated in the designed BWR system. It also has structural stability in extreme chemical, physical and mechanical conditions. The combination of these properties, absent in other waste materials, has novelty suggested its use as matrix for water remediation. Thus, pristine byssus, upon de-metalation, was studied to remove metal ions from ideal solutions at pH 4 and 7, as model chemical systems of industrial and environmental polluted waters, respectively. The byssus matrix's uptake of metal ions was determined by ICP-OES and its surface microstructure investigated by SEM. The results showed that the byssus matrix excellently uptakes metal ions slightly reorganizing its surface micro-structure.
