0%) than after an index forearm/wrist/hand fracture (14.1%) or index hip/femur fracture (12.1%). Subsequent 1-year fracture incidence was generally higher in older patients. Index fracture type, age, epilepsy/use of antiepileptics, and heart failure were all independently associated with subsequent fracture risk.
Osteoporosis patients in Germany are at imminent risk of subsequent fracture during the first year following an initial fracture. G Protein antagonist They should be targeted for immediate post-fracture treatment to reduce the risk of further fractures, especially in the presence of specific risk factors such as old age or index vertebral fracture.

Twelve QTL for flowering and leaf number were detected. The ZmWRKY14
could increase leaf number, flowering time and biomass yield which are promising for silage maize breeding. Silage maize, one of the most important feedstock for ruminants, is widely grown from temperate regions to the tropics. Flowering time and leaf number are two significantly correlated traits and important for the quality, adaptation and biomass yield of silage maize. In this study, a recombinant inbred line population consisting of 215 individuals and an association panel of 369 inbred lines were analysed in field conditions in three locations for 2 consecutive years, and five, four and three quantitative trait loci for the total leaf number, days to anthesis (DTA) and silking (DTS) were detected, which could explain 48.55, 35.37 and 34.22% of total phenotypic variation, respectively. Association analysis of qLN10 on chromosome 10 found that ZmWRKY14 was the candidate gene for leaf number, whose expression level was negatively corror 2 consecutive years, and five, four and three quantitative trait loci for the total leaf number, days to anthesis (DTA) and silking (DTS) were detected, which could explain 48.55, 35.37 and 34.22% of total phenotypic variation, respectively. Association analysis of qLN10 on chromosome 10 found that ZmWRKY14 was the candidate gene for leaf number, whose expression level was negatively correlated with the leaf number. There are five haplotypes for ZmWRKY14, and haplotype 4 could significantly increase flowering time, leaf number and biomass yield, but has no obvious influence on ear weight. The optimal allelic combination of ZmWRKY14 and ZCN8 could further increase leaf number and biomass yield. The results will provide important genetic information for silage maize breeding. The availability of reference data is a key requirement for the development of New Approach Methods (NAM), i.e. in vitro, in chemico and in silico methods and Integrated Approaches, like Defined Approaches (DA), combining these data sources. Reference data are of even higher importance for regulatory acceptance. In contrast to most other adverse effects, human skin sensitization data on many chemicals are available, next to data from animal studies, such as the Local Lymph Node Assay (LLNA). Skin sensitization NAM data can therefore be compared to different reference datasets. Recent publications and validation at the OECD focused on human and LLNA reference data. The "2 out of 3" DA (2o3 DA) is the first DA for skin sensitization solely based on experimental data from validated tests and was recently adopted as an OECD test guideline. Here we review the predictivity of the 2o3 DA on multiple human and LLNA reference datasets. Concomitantly, we compare the predictivity of the LLNA for human data within the same datasets. Comparing predictivity of methods not only bilaterally (NAM or DA vs. animal method) but including human data in a triangle "NAM data - animal data - human data" offers a comprehensive assessment of NAM's and DA's predictivity. In all these assessments the 2o3 DA was superior to the LLNA in predicting human skin sensitization hazard. This highlights the importance of a holistic view on reference data instead of limiting validation of NAM and DA to data from a single animal test only.X-ray induced molecular luminescence (XML) is a phenomenon that can be utilized for clinical, deep-tissue functional imaging of tailored molecular probes. In this study, a survey of common or clinically approved fluorophores was carried out for their megavoltage X-ray induced excitation and emission characteristics. We find that direct scintillation effects and Cherenkov generation are two possible ways to cause these molecules' excitation. To distinguish the contributions of each excitation mechanism, we exploited the dependency of Cherenkov radiation yield on X-ray energy. The probes were irradiated by constant dose of 6 MV and 18 MV X-ray radiation, and their relative emission intensities and spectra were quantified for each X-ray energy pair. From the ratios of XML, yield for 6 MV and 18 MV irradiation we found that the Cherenkov radiation dominated as an excitation mechanism, except for aluminum phthalocyanine, which exhibited substantial scintillation. The highest emission yields were detected from fluorescein, proflavin and aluminum phthalocyanine, in that order. XML yield was found to be affected by the emission quantum yield, overlap of the fluorescence excitation and Cherenkov emission spectra, scintillation yield. Considering all these factors and XML emission spectrum respective to tissue optical window, aluminum phthalocyanine offers the best XML yield for deep tissue use, while fluorescein and proflavine are most useful for subcutaneous or superficial use.Mathematics and science are highly integrated disciplines, but the brain association between mathematics and science remains unclear. The current study used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans of 34 undergraduates (17 males, mean age = 20.3±1.64 years old) while they completed mathematical, physical and chemical principles, arithmetic computation, and sentence comprehension. We examined neural activation level, neural activation pattern, and neural connectivity to investigate the neural associations between mathematics and science (including physics and chemistry). The results showed that mathematical, physical, and chemical principles elicited similar neural activation level and neural activation pattern in the visuospatial network (mainly in the middle frontal gyrus and inferior parietal lobule), which were different from those elicited by sentence comprehension; those three principles also elicited similar neural activation level and neural activation pattern in the semantic network (mainly in the middle temporal gyrus, angular gyrus, inferior frontal gyrus, and dorsomedial prefrontal cortex), in contrast to that elicited by arithmetic computation.
