An anode bimetallic catalyst comprising Ni-Pd alloy nanoparticles was loaded on acid-treated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) for application in a direct urea fuel cell. The bimetallic catalyst and MWCNTs were synthesized by a hydrothermal method at 160°C for 5 h. To reduce the catalyst particle size, alkaline resistance, and facilitate their uniform distribution on the surface of the MWCNTs, phosphorus (P) was added to the Ni-Pd/MWCNT catalyst. The effects of P on the distribution and reduction in size of catalyst particles were investigated by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis. The enhanced catalytic activity and durability of the P-containing catalyst was confirmed by the high current density [1897.76 mA/cm2 (vs. Ag/AgCl)] obtained at 0.45 V in a 3 M KOH/1.0 M urea alkaline aqueous solution compared with that of the catalyst without P [604.87 mA/cm2 (vs. Ag/AgCl)], as determined by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. A Urea-O2 fuel cell assembled with a membrane electrode assembly comprising the Ni-Pd(P)/MWCNT catalyst delivered peak power densities of 0.756 and 3.825 mW/cm2 at 25 and 60°C, respectively, in a 3 M KOH/1 M urea solution.Acteoside (ACT) belongs to a type of phenylethanoid glycosides (PhGs), and it is worthy of obtaining high-purity due to its significant medicinal functions. In this study, a novel class of MIMs was designed and synthesized with PVDF membranes as the base membrane for high selective separation and enrichment of ACT. The effects of the different functional monomers, the amounts of functional monomers, crosslinking agents, and initiators on the separation properties of MIMs were investigated. Furthermore, adsorption ability, permeation capacity, and reusability of MIMs were discussed for ACT. It indicated that MIM7 was the optimal performance of MIMs. The adsorption ability of MIM7 for ACT was 62.83 mg/g, and the selectivity factor (α) of MIM7 was up to 2.74 and its permeability factor (β) was greater than 2.66. Verubecestat clinical trial Moreover, the adsorption amount of MIM7 was still more than 88.57% of the initial value after five cycles. As an ACT imprinted layer of MIMs only had recognition sites for ACT molecules, which recombined with the recognition sites in the membrane permeation experiment, ACT molecules penetration was hindered. However, the analogs of ECH successfully passed MIMs. It indicated that the selective MIMs for ACT followed the mechanism of delayed permeation. This work provides an important reference for the high permselective separation of natural products.Thermal stress induced by annealing the Cu filling of through-silicon vias (TSVs) requires further investigation as it can inhibit the performance of semiconductor devices. This study reports the filling behavior of TSVs prepared using direct current and pulse current Cu electrodeposition with and without pre-annealing. The thermal extrusion of Cu inside the TSVs was studied by observing the extrusion behavior after annealing and the changes in grain orientation using scanning electron microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction. The bottom-up filling ratio achieved by the direct current approach decreased because the current was used both to fill the TSV and to grow bump defects on the top surface of the wafer. In contrast, pulse current electrodeposition yielded an improved TSV bottom-up filling ratio and no bump defects, which is attributable to strong suppression and thin diffusion layer. Moreover, Cu deposited with a pulse current exhibited lesser thermal extrusion, which was attributed to the formation of nanotwins and a change in the grain orientation from random to (101). Based on the results, thermal extrusion of the total area of the TSVs could be obtained by pulse current electrodeposition with pre-annealing.DNA is an excellent biological material that has received growing attention in the field of nanotechnology due to its unique capability for precisely engineering materials via sequence specific interactions. Self-assembled DNA nanostructures of prescribed physicochemical properties have demonstrated potent drug delivery efficiency in vitro and in vivo. By using various conjugation techniques, DNA nanostructures may be precisely integrated with a large diversity of functional moieties, such as targeting ligands, proteins, and inorganic nanoparticles, to enrich their functionalities and to enhance their performance. In this review, we start with introducing strategies on constructing DNA nanostructures. We then summarize the biological barriers ahead of drug delivery using DNA nanostructures, followed by introducing existing rational solutions to overcome these biological barriers. Lastly, we discuss challenges and opportunities for DNA nanostructures toward real applications in clinical settings.Despite serious health and environmental burdens associated with air pollution by NOx, the emission ceilings have been systematically exceeded in big European cities for several years. Photocatalytic technology can be an efficient solution for the removal of chemical air pollutants. Because diesel engine exhaust is the main source of NOx emissions, the application of a photocatalyst onto road pavement appears to be an effective NOx abatement method due to the large surface area, proximity to the emission source, and relatively good solar irradiance. Several laboratory-scale studies provided evidence demonstrating that most harmful contaminants can be readily mineralized. Furthermore, several projects were aiming to scale up this technology to pilot and real scales. Although the photocatalytic performances of selected materials in real urban environments were determined in some of these studies, the data are not conclusive for evaluating the overall performance because other material characteristics relevant taracteristics. Finally, the ranges of the main indicators and subindicators and methods for their assessment were determined. These methods include standard, adopted, and original characterization techniques, which were selected based on the criteria such as simplicity, cost- and time-effectiveness, and relevance regarding the operational conditions.
