The objective of this study is to evaluate the prognostic features of multiple myeloma (MM) using whole-body low-dose computed tomography (WBLDCT). One hundred three patients with biopsy-proven MM who underwent WBLDCT were retrospectively enrolled. The evolution of osteolytic lesions overtime was performed by measuring the maximum axial diameter at the baseline (T0) and the end of follow-up (Te), by using a cut-off value of 10 mm. The location and dimension of up to three lesions were registered. The time-to-fracture (TTF) was recorded. Sixty-three percent of patients presented a focal pattern, 22% a diffuse pattern, and 15% a combined one. Seventy-two percent of patients with lesions ≤ 10 mm presented stability, 27% a dimensional increase, and 1% a decrease. Patients with lesions >10 mm showed a statistically significant difference regarding the mean difference of axial diameter between T0 and Te (p = 0.015). Patients with lesions >10 mm showed an odds ratio (OR) of 29.8 (95%CIs 3.8-230.5) to develop at least one fracture. learn more Mean TTF was significantly lower in patients with lesions >10 mm in comparison with lesions ≤ 10 mm (9 ± 3 vs 23 ± 7 months, respectively, p = 0.011). WBLDCT represents a reliable imaging-based tool for proper management of MM patients, showing that diffuse form or small lytic lesions may deserve a less frequent follow-up.

To assess whether HIV infection directly or indirectly promotes coronary artery disease (CAD) volume progression in a longitudinal study of African Americans.

We randomly selected 300 individuals with subclinical CAD (210 male; age 48.0 ± 7.2 years; 226 HIV infected, 174 cocaine users) from 1429 cardiovascularly asymptomatic participants of a prospective epidemiological study between May 2004 and August 2015. Individuals underwent coronary CT angiography at two time points (mean follow-up 4.0 ± 2.3 years). We quantified noncalcified (NCP -100-350HU), low-attenuation noncalcified (LA-NCP -100-30HU), and calcified (CP ≥ 351 HU) plaque volumes. Linear mixed models were used to assess the effects of HIV infection, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk, and years of cocaine use on plaque volumes.

There was no significant difference in annual progression rates between HIV-infected and HIV-uninfected regarding NCP (8.7 [IQR 3.0-19.4] mm

/year vs. 4.9 [IQR 1.5-18.3] mm

/year, p = 0.14), LA-NCP (infected individuals.

To describe the occurrence of imaging-depicted sports-related injuries (bone, muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries) during the Rio 2016 Summer Paralympic Games.

Descriptive data on all imaging examinations by using radiography, ultrasonography (US), and MRI were collected and retrospectively analyzed centrally by five musculoskeletal radiologists according to imaging modality, country of origin of the athletes, type of sport, type of disability, and type and location of injury.

We report 109 injuries in 4378 athletes. A total of 382 radiologic examinations were performed in 261 athletes, including 118 (31%) radiographic, 22 (6%) US, and 242 (63%) MRI examinations. Para athletes from Africa had the highest utilization rate (20.1%, 67 out of 333). Athletes from Europe underwent the most examinations with 29 radiographic, 12 US, and 66 MRI examinations. The highest utilization rate of imaging modalities by sport was among Judo para athletes (16.7%, 22 out of 132). Most injuries were reported in athletics nt differences between the two athlete populations and the manner in which injury risk in the Paralympic athlete varies dependent on impairment type, which is not the case for the Olympic athlete.

• The highest imaging utilization rates were found among para athletes competing in Judo, sitting volleyball, powerlifting, and football. • Utilization of diagnostic imaging at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games demonstrated similar trends to what was observed at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. • Comparison of the rate of imaging-depicted injuries between Olympic and Paralympic athletes is limited due to inherent differences between the two athlete populations and the manner in which injury risk in the Paralympic athlete varies dependent on impairment type, which is not the case for the Olympic athlete. The increasing population of the world requires novel techniques to feed everyone, which can replace or work along with traditional methods to increase production of agricultural crops. In recent times, nanotechnology is considered as a promising and emerging approach to be incorporated in agriculture to improve productivity of different crops by the administration of nanoparticles through seed treatment, foliar spray on plants, nano-fertilizers for balanced crop nutrition, nano-herbicides for effective weed control, nanoinsecticides for plant protection, early detection of plant diseases and nutrient deficiencies using diagnostics kits, and nano-pheromones for effective monitoring of pests. Further, distinct nanoparticles with unique physicochemical and biological properties are used in agriculture to increase the percentage of seed germination, which is the initial step to increase the crop yield. In the context of agricultural crops, nanoparticles have both positive effects on seed quality parameters, such as germination percentage, seedling length, seedling dry weight and vigor indices, as well as negative impacts of causing toxicity toward the environment. Thus, the aim of this review article is to provide a comprehensive overview on the effects of super-dispersive metal powders, such as zinc, silver, and titanium nanoparticles on the seed quality parameters of different crops. In addition, the drawback of conventional seed growth enhancers, impact of metal nanoparticles toward seeds, and mechanism of nanoparticles to increase seed germination were also discussed.

The purpose of the present cross-sectional study is to investigate the role of perceived COVID-19-related organizational demands and threats in predicting emotional exhaustion, and the role of organizational support in reducing the negative influence of perceived COVID-19 work-related stressors on burnout. Moreover, the present study aims to add to the understanding of the role of personal resources in the Job Demands-Resources model (JD-R) by examining whether personal resources-such as the professionals' orientation towards patient engagement-may also strengthen the impact of job resources and mitigate the impact of job demands.

This cross-sectional study involved 532 healthcare professionals working during the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy. It adopted the Job-Demands-Resource Model to study the determinants of professional's burnout. An integrative model describing how increasing job demands experienced by this specific population are related to burnout and in particular to emotional exhaustion symptoms was developed.
