In situ high-temperature Raman spectra of polycrystalline KBi(MoO4)2 were recorded from room temperature to 1073 K. Thermal stability of the monoclinic KBi(MoO4)2 was examined by temperature-dependent XRD. The monoclinic phase transformed into the scheelite tetragonal structure at 833 K, and then to the monoclinic phase at 773 K. Quantum chemistry ab initio calculation was performed to simulate the Raman spectra of the structure of KBi(MoO4)2 high-temperature melt. The experimental Raman band at 1023 K was deconvoluted into seven Gaussian peaks, and the calculated results were in good agreement with the experimental data. Therefore, the vibrational modes of Raman peaks of molten KBi(MoO4)2 were assigned. It was confirmed that the isolated structure of [Bi(MoO4)2]- monomer, consisting of Mo6+ centers and Bi3+ sub-centers connected by edge-sharing, mainly exists in the melt of KBi(MoO4)2.This review is focused on the basic properties, production, functionalization, cytotoxicity, and biomedical applications of liquid metal nanoparticles (LMNPs), with a focus on particles of the size ranging from tens to hundreds of nanometers. Applications, including cancer therapy, medical imaging, and pathogen treatment are discussed. LMNPs share similar properties to other metals, such as photothermal conversion ability and a propensity to form surface oxides. Compared to many other metals, especially mercury, the cytotoxicity of gallium is low and is considered by many reports to be safe when applied in vivo. Recent advances in exploring different grafting molecules are reported herein, as surface functionalization is essential to enhance photothermal therapeutic effects of LMNPs or to facilitate drug delivery. This review also outlines properties of LMNPs that can be exploited in making medical imaging contrast agents, ion channel regulators, and anti-pathogenic agents. Finally, a foresight is offered, exemplifying underexplored knowledge and highlighting the research challenges faced by LMNP science and technology in expanding into applications potentially yielding clinical advances.
The correct approach for early hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is debatable, since multiple options are currently available. Percutaneous ablation (PA) is associated in some series to reduced morbidity compared to liver resection (LR); therefore, minimally invasive surgery may play a significant role in this setting.
All consecutive patients treated by robotic liver resection (RLR) or PA between January 2014 and October 2019 for a newly diagnosed single HCC, less than 3 cm in size (very early/early stages according to the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC)) on chronic liver disease or liver cirrhosis, were enrolled in this retrospective study. The aim of this study was to compare short- and long-term outcomes to define the best approach in this specific cohort.
60 patients fulfilled the inclusion criteria 24 RLR and 36 PA. The two populations were homogeneous in terms of baseline characteristics. There were no statistically significant differences regarding the incidence of postoperative morbidity (RLRhes. The vacuum hot-rolled SUS314/Q235 stainless steel clad plate has many drawbacks including serious interface alloy element diffusion, stainless steel cladding's sensitization, and carbon steel substrate's low strength. In this study, the comprehensive properties were systematically adjusted by changing the thickness of the Ni interlayer (0, 100, 200 μm) and the quenching temperature (1000~1150 °C). GSK-3008348 chemical structure The results showed that the Ni interlayer can obviously hinder the diffusion of carbon element, so as to achieve the purpose of eliminating the decarburized layer and reducing the carbon content of the carburized layer. Meanwhile, the perfect metallurgical bonding between the substrate and cladding can be obtained, effectively improving the stainless steel clad plate's tensile shear strength and comprehensive mechanical properties, and significantly reduce the brittleness of the carburized layer. As the quenching temperature increases, the grains coarsening of carbon steel and stainless steel became more and more serious, and the sensitization phenomenon and the thickness of the carburized layer are gradually decreased. The stainless steel clad plate (Ni layer thickness of 100 μm) quenched at 1050 °C had the best comprehensive mechanical properties. Herein, the interface shear strength, tensile strength and the fracture elongation reached 360.5 MPa, 867 MPa and 16.10%, respectively, achieving strengthening and toughening aim. This is attributed to the disappearance of the sensitization phenomenon, the grain refinement and the lower interface residual stress. The complex interplay between pathogens, host factors, and the integrity and composition of the endogenous microbiome determine the course and outcome of gastrointestinal infections. The model organism Yersinia entercolitica (Ye) is one of the five top frequent causes of bacterial gastroenteritis based on the Epidemiological Bulletin of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 10 September 2020. A fundamental challenge in predicting the course of an infection is to understand whether co-infection with two Yersinia strains, differing only in their capacity to resist killing by the host immune system, may decrease the overall virulence by competitive exclusion or increase it by acting cooperatively. Herein, we study the primary interactions among Ye, the host immune system and the microbiota, and their influence on Yersinia population dynamics. The employed model considers commensal bacterial in two host compartments (the intestinal mucosa the and lumen), the co-existence of wt and mut Yersinia strains, and the host immune responses. We determine four possible equilibria disease-free, wt-free, mut-free, and co-existence of wt and mut in equilibrium. We also calculate the reproduction number for each strain as a threshold parameter to determine if the population may be eradicated or persist within the host. We conclude that the infection should disappear if the reproduction numbers for each strain fall below one, and the commensal bacteria growth rate exceeds the pathogen's growth rate. These findings will help inform medical control strategies. The supplement includes the MATLAB source script, Maple workbook, and figures.
