The synthesis of cyclometalated osmium complexes is usually more complicated than of other transition metals such as Ni, Pd, Pt, Rh, where cyclometalation reactions readily occur via direct activation of C-H bonds. It differs also from their ruthenium analogs. Cyclometalation for osmium usually occurs under more severe conditions, in polar solvents, using specific precursors, stronger acids, or bases. Such requirements expand reaction mechanisms to electrophilic activation, transmetalation, and oxidative addition, often involving C-H bond activations. Osmacycles exhibit specific applications in homogeneous catalysis, photophysics, bioelectrocatalysis and are studied as anticancer agents. This review describes major synthetic pathways to osmacycles and related compounds and discusses their practical applications.Water deficit represents an important challenge for wheat production in many regions of the world. selleck products Accumulation and remobilization of water-soluble carbohydrates (WSCs) in stems are part of the physiological responses regulated by plants to cope with water stress and, in turn, determine grain yield (GY). The genetic mechanisms underlying the variation in WSC are only partially understood. In this study, we aimed to identify Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) markers that account for variation in a suite of WSC and GY, evaluated in 225 cultivars and advanced lines of spring wheat. These genotypes were established in two sites in the Mediterranean region of Central Chile, under water-limited and full irrigation conditions, and assessed in two growing seasons, namely anthesis and maturity growth periods. A genome-wide association study (GWAS) was performed by using 3243 SNP markers. Genetic variance accounted for 5 to 52% of phenotypic variation of the assessed traits. A rapid linkage disequilibrium decay was observed across chromosomes (r2 ≤ 0.2 at 2.52 kbp). Marker-trait association tests identified 96 SNPs related to stem weight (SW), WSCs, and GY, among other traits, at the different sites, growing seasons, and growth periods. The percentage of SNPs that were part of the gene-coding regions was 34%. Most of these genes are involved in the defensive response to drought and biotic stress. A complimentary analysis detected significant effects of different haplotypes on WSC and SW, in anthesis and maturity. Our results evidence both genetic and environmental influence on WSC dynamics in spring wheat. At the same time, they provide a series of markers suitable for supporting assisted selection approaches and functional characterization of genes. The search for novel prostate cancer biomarkers is one of the major topics in recent urologic research [...].Infertility is a global healthcare problem, which affects men and women equally. With the advance of genome-wide analysis, an increasing list of human genes involved in infertility is now available. In order to evaluate the diagnostic interest to analyze these genes, we have designed a gene panel allowing the analysis of 51 genes involved in non-syndromic human infertility. In this initial evaluation study, a cohort of 94 non-syndromic infertility cases with a well-defined infertility phenotype was examined. Five patients with previously known mutations were used as positive controls. With a mean coverage of 457×, and 99.8% of target bases successfully sequenced with a depth coverage over 30×, we prove the robustness and the quality of our panel. In total, we identified pathogenic or likely pathogenic variations in eight patients (five male and three female). With a diagnostic yield of 8.5% and the identification of a variety of variants including substitution, insertion, deletion, and copy number variations, our results demonstrate the usefulness of such a strategy, as well as the efficiency and the quality of this diagnostic gene panel. The use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to enhance tenodesmic lesion healing has been questioned over the years. The aim of this study was to evaluate current literature to establish the effectiveness of PRP for treating tenodesmic lesions through a systematic review, in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines, and a meta-analysis. Studies comparing PRP with placebo or other treatments for horses with tenodesmic injuries or evaluated PRP effect on tendon and ligament explants were included. Outcomes were clinical, ultrasound, histologic, molecular evaluation, and adverse effects. Two authors independently extracted data and assessed each study's risk of bias. Treatment effects were evaluated using risk ratios for dichotomous data, together with 95% CI. Data were pooled using the random-effects model. The quality of the evidence for each outcome was assessed using GRADE criteria. Twenty-four trials met inclusion criteria for systematic review, while fifteen studies were included in the meta-analysis. Results showed no significant differences in the outcomes between PRP and control groups. Finally, there is no definitive evidence that PRP enhances tendons and ligaments healing. Therefore, there is a need for more controlled trials to draw a firmer conclusion about the efficacy of PRP as a treatment for tenodesmic lesions in the horse.Tumor microenvironment inflammation contributes to the proliferation and survival of malignant cells, angiogenesis, metastasis, subversion of adaptive immunity, and reduced treatment response. We aimed to evaluate the early predictive and prognostic significance of markers of systemic inflammation in patients receiving somatostatin-receptor targeted peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT). This retrospective observational cohort study included 33 patients with advanced gastro-entero-pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs) treated with PRRT. Pretreatment blood-based inflammatory biomarkers, e.g., C-reactive protein levels (CRP), white blood cell count (WBC), and absolute neutrophil count (ANC), were documented and inflammation indexes, e.g., neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and Platelet × CRP multiplier (PCM), were calculated. Tumor burden was determined using [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-TATE PET/CT before enrollment and every 2 cycles thereafter until progression. Therapy response was assessed using RECIST 1.1, including its volumetric modification.
