Evidence links COVID-19 severity to hyper-inflammation. Treatment with tocilizumab, a monoclonal antibody directed against the interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor, was shown to lead to clinical improvement in patients with severe COVID-19. We, therefore, performed the present systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate whether the circulating levels of IL-6 is a reliable indicator of disease severity among patients affected with COVID-19.
A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar on April 19, 2020.
Eleven studies provided data of IL-6 levels in patients with severe to critical COVID-19 (severe) and patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 (non-severe). The included studies were of moderate to high quality. The mean patients' age was 60.9 years, ranging from 45.2 to 76.7 years in the severe group and 46.8 years, ranging from 37.9 to 61 years, in the nonsevere group. Fifty-two percent were male in the severe group, as compared to 46% in the non-severe group. A, there might be confounding factors that influence the relationship between IL-6 and COVID-19 severity and remain as yet unknown.Biochemical diagnosis of hereditary metabolic diseases requires the detection and simultaneous identification of a large number of compounds, hence the interest in metabolic profiles. Acylcarnitine profile allows the identification and quantification of more than thirty compounds. As part of the accreditation process for medical biology examinations according to standard NF EN ISO 15189, the group from SFEIM recommends an approach to accredit acylcarnitine profile. Validation parameters and recommendations are discussed in this specific framework.
Principal objective of this work was to analyse the cost effectiveness of different sequences of cytogenetic techniques from the hospital's point of view, after prenatal ultrasound has identified fetal malformations.
Cytogenetic tests were performed for each case in 3 strategies, and their results are reported and compared to one reference strategy. Two new simulated strategies were considered chromosomal microarrays alone and a direct test + CMA.
cost-effectiveness ratio.
A single test result was positive in 234 of the 835 pregnancies studied (28%). CMA alone would have identified 239 abnormalities. In the simulated direct test + CMA sequence, the direct test alone would have been positive for 66.1% of the abnormalities identified. see more When testing was indicated for NT, reference strategy (Direct + karyotyping) costs 1 084.8 euros by positive test results. Strategies Direct + CMA and CMA alone cost respectively 992.7 and 550.0 euros by positive test results. For OUM indications, reference strategy costs 2937.8 euros by positive test results. Strategies Direct + CMA and CMA alone cost respectively, 2 118.4 and 1304.7 euros by positive test results.
CMA appears to be the most effective test for prenatal cytogenetic diagnosis of fetal abnormalities identified by ultrasound.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training for nursing students is important. The aim of study is to examine the effectiveness of a simulation-based CPR training program on the knowledge, practices, satisfaction, and self-confidence of nursing students.
The study was conducted with a mixed-method design. The quantitative data were obtained by using the "CPR Knowledge Questionnaire," the "Students' Satisfaction and Self-Confidence Scale," and the "CPR Skills Observation Checklist", and the qualitative data were collected by using the "Semistructured Interview Form" in four focus group sessions, each consisting of six participants.
The mean pretest CPR knowledge score of the students before the simulation-based CPR training was 5.66 ± 1.97 out of 10.0. The mean posttest CPR knowledge score (8.38 ± 1.30) increased significantly after the simulation (p < 0.001). In addition, the mean posttest CPR skills score was significantly higher than the mean pretest CPR skills score (p < 0.001). Themes from the qualitative data revealed that the students considered the simulation to be an interesting and useful teaching method. These themes were "worries before simulation" and "satisfaction following simulation".
Simulation-based CPR training improved the levels of knowledge and skills of nursing students. In addition, after the simulation training, satisfaction and self-confidence scores were found to be high.

Optimal management of prostate cancer (PCa) patients with lymph node invasion at radical prostatectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection still remains unclear.
To assess the effectiveness of postoperative treatment strategies for pathologically node-positive PCa patients. The secondary aim was to identify the most relevant prognostic factors to guide the management of pN1 patients.
A systematic review was performed in January 2020 using Medline, Embase, and other databases. A total of 5063 articles were screened, and 26 studies including 12 537 men were selected for data synthesis and included in the current review according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) recommendations.
Ten-year biochemical recurrence (BCR)-free, clinical recurrence-free, cancer-specific (CSS), and overall (OS) survival rates ranged from 28% to 56%, 70% to 92%, 72% to 98%, and 60% to 87.6%, respectively. A total of seven, five, and six studies assessed the oncological outcomes of obcteristics should be used to select the optimal postoperative management for pN1 PCa patients.
Finding node-positive prostate cancer after a radical prostatectomy often leads to high postoperative prostate-specific antigen levels and is overall a poor prognostic factor. However, this does not necessarily translate into poor survival for all men. Management can be tailored to the severity of disease and options include observation, androgen deprivation therapy, and/or radiotherapy.
