Cox regression analysis demonstrated that the expression of Rab1A protein in bladder cancer tissues was an independent risk factor for prognosis (overall risk=0.549; 95% confidence interval=0.139-0.916). The 5-year survival rate of patients with bladder cancer with high expression levels of Rab1A protein was 48.613%, which was significantly decreased compared with the rate of patients with low expression 75.31% (P less then 0.05). The expression of Rab1A in bladder cancer tissues and cell lines was upregulated, and its expression increased with increasing TNM stages. It was also associated with the metastasis of tumor cells and negatively affected the survival time of patients with bladder cancer.The present study aimed to investigate the anatomical microstructure, features and signals of the fetal thymus by 3.0T FS-T2 weighted turbo spin echo sequences, which could provide imaging evidence for the evaluation of early-stage development of fetal thymus. In addition, the T2-weighted three-dimensional (3D) sequences and the 3D processing may contribute to the establishment of reference ranges for the fetal thymus. A total of 64 specimens obtained from the fetuses of 16-39 weeks of gestational age (GA) were scanned by 3.0T MRI. Morphological changes and quantitative measurements of the fetal thymus were assessed, including the anteroposterior diameter, width, height, surface area and volume. The shape of fetal thymus varied and the majority were X-shaped, with a narrow top and wide bottom. Morphology measurements demonstrated gradual growth with increasing GA. There were high linear correlations between width, height, surface area and volume and GA. No significant differences were observed between the sexes. Post-mortem 3.0T MRI clearly demonstrated changes in external contours and internal structure with GA. The images and data obtained reflect normal development of the fetal thymus and enrich the imaging data of fetal morphometry.Trans-radial access for percutaneous coronary intervention or angiography has gained popularity amongst interventional cardiologists. Radial access is also thought to reduce the incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) in the immediate post-operative period. The purpose of the present study was to perform a comprehensive updated systematic review and meta-analysis comparing the incidence of AKI following the radial vs. femoral route of coronary catheterization. An electronic literature search of the PubMed, BioMed Central, Scopus, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials and Google Scholar databases up to 1st January 2020 was performed. A total of 14 studies were included, 2 of which were randomized controlled trials (RCTs), and 6 studies utilized propensity score matching. Comparison of the data of 21,479 patients in the radial group and 25,337 patients in the femoral group indicated a reduced incidence of AKI with the radial route [odds ratio (OR)0.66, 95% CI 0.54-0.81, P less then 0.0001, I2=74%]. Similar results were obtained with sub-group analyses for RCTs (OR 0.87, 95% CI 0.77-0.98, P=0.02, I2=0%), retrospective studies (OR 0.57, 95% CI 0.36-0.90, P=0.02, I2=86%) and propensity score-matched studies (OR 0.63, 95% CI 0.48-0.83, P=0.0009, I2=45%). Multivariable-adjusted ORs of AKI for the radial vs. femoral route were extracted from non-RCTs and pooled for a meta-analysis, which also demonstrated similar results (OR 0.70, 95% CI 0.57-0.88, P=0.002, I2=70%). Within the limitations of the study, the present results indicate that, as compared to femoral access, the use of trans-radial access for coronary catheterization is associated with a significantly reduced incidence of AKI. A reduction of AKI by ~34% may be expected with the use of radial access.Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is a common type of cancer in a number of regions of the world, including East Asia, South Africa and Iran. It is often associated with poor prognosis rates. Tyrosine-protein kinase receptor UFO (AXL) is overexpressed in a subset of ESCC tumors, therefore the present study aimed to determine the effect of R428, a selective inhibitor of AXL, on ESCC tumor cells. TE1 and KYSE150 cell lines were used as models to investigate the effects of R428 treatment. The proliferative rate of the tumor cells was analyzed using MTT and colony formation assays. In addition, cell migration and invasion rates were analyzed using wound healing and Matrigel assays, respectively. The expression levels of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)2 and MMP9, and the activation of protein kinase B (AKT), extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) and AXL signaling were analyzed using gelatin zymography and western blotting. The results revealed that R428 inhibited the proliferative and invasive abilities of both cell lines. Furthermore, AXL, AKT and ERK signaling were all decreased in response to R428 treatment, alongside the expression levels of MMP2 and MMP9. In conclusion, the results of the present study suggested that R428 treatment may suppress ESCC tumor cell proliferation and invasion, representing a potential therapeutic target for ESCC.Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is closely associated with changes in the composition of the gut microbiota. To date, studies on the gut microbiota have focused on the genus-level composition and microbial gene sets, whereas changes in the microbiota after clinical treatment have remained largely elusive. In the present study, 16 subjects with T2DM were enrolled and treated long-term with a low-fat diet. Stool samples were collected at the initial diagnosis and after 1, 3 and 6 months of treatment, and named as group T0, T1, T2 and T3, respectively.
