miR-335 was significantly lower in NSCLC samples compared to non-cancerous samples (P less then .001). The expression level of miR-335 was significantly correlated with tumor histology (P = .028), lymph node metastasis (P = .002), differentiation degree (P less then .001), and pathological TNM stage (P less then .001). The log-rank test indicated that patients with decreased miR-335 expression experienced poor overall survival in NSCLC (P = .029).The results of the present study indicated that miR-335 was down-expressed in NSCLC, and is associated with tumor progression and poor prognosis, suggesting that the expression of miR-335 might be an independent prognostic factor of overall survival in patients with NSCLC.
To discuss suitable criteria for the application of asymmetric Amplatzer occluders for perimembranous ventricular septal defects (pmVSDs).
We retrospectively studied 18 children with perimembranous VSDs who underwent attempted asymmetric occluder closure between January 2015 and December 2018 in our center.
Asymmetric Amplatzer occluders were attempted to be placed to all the enrolled patients. We analyzed the diameter of the defects with the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) values, the size of the occluders attempted, the presence of aneurysm and the presence of aortic valve prolapse for each patient. Then, for patients who experienced successful device implantation, the therapeutic efficiency was evaluated by follow-up.
Only 5 out of a total of 18 patients completed successful device implantation. Compared with failed cases, successful cases demonstrated a significantly smaller VSD size (5.46 ± 1.03 mm vs. 8.73 ± 2.33 mm, P = 0.012) and had a low ratio of aortic valvar prolapse (20% vs. 76.92%, P = 0.026). Four out of 5 successful cases involved arrhythmia complications, but the rhythm of the heart recovered after drug treatment. According to the ROC and Youden analyses, the cut-off value of the defect size for successful asymmetric Amplatzer occluder implantation was no larger than 5.7 mm.
The application of an asymmetric Amplatzer occluder expands the range of indications for patients with superior localized VSD but is largely limited in cases with aortic valvar prolapse and large VSD sizes. All successful cases recovered from arrhythmia postprocedure.

Pathological data and ultrasonic manifestations were assessed retrospectively to summarize the clinical traits and ultrasonic features of female genital system lymphoma (FGSL). see more Based on the results, recommendations for ultrasonography-based diagnosis of this disease are proposed.During the 10-year study period, 20 female patients were diagnosed with malignant lymphomas in the pelvic cavity based on postoperative pathology tests. The age of the patients ranged from 11 to 83 years, and no patients demonstrated specific clinical traits; however, examination of tumor biomarkers revealed that certain patients had elevated levels of CA125. Twenty-eight lesions were identified in the 20 patients, including 24 involving the reproductive system. The primary ultrasonic manifestations were hypoechoic or extremely hypoechoic solid lesions that were relatively large in size, had a relatively regular shape, and had clear boundaries. Certain patients had concurrent ascites, and although some lesions lacked blood supply, most lesions had medium to abundant blood flow, which was largely characterized by low resistance. Almost none of the lesions were definitively diagnosed preoperatively.Diagnosing malignant lymphomas in the female genital tract remains a considerable clinical challenge. Although certain clinical traits and ultrasonic features are associated with this disease and color Doppler ultrasonography might provide vital information indicating the presence of lymphoma, the final diagnosis depends on the clinical and pathological test results of the patients.
Previous studies showed difference results about the effect of nurse in improvement of the colonoscopy detection rate. This meta-analysis aims to investigate whether nurse participation during colonoscopy can help in improving the detection rate of polyps and adenomas.
Original studies in English were searched from the MEDLINE database, PubMed, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library database. Randomized control trials (RCT) comparing colonoscopy with and without nurse participation for the detection of colorectal polyps and adenomas were identified. A meta-analysis was performed using Revman 5.3 software.
A total of 2268 patients from 4 RCTs were included in this meta-analysis. Outcomes of colonoscopy with nurse participation were compared with those of colonoscopy without nurse participation. The results showed that nurses' participation during colonoscopy could significantly increase both, polyp detection rate and adenoma detection rate.
Nurse assistance during colonoscopy can help improve the rate of detection of polyps and adenomas.

The aim of the study was to conduct a systematic review to comprehensively evaluate the relationship between pistachio intake and obesity.
We searched 6 databases and acquired parameters from randomized controlled trials regarding obesity, including body weight, body mass index (BMI), and waist circumference. A fixed-effect model was applied to the meta-analysis for the weighted mean difference (WMD) between a diet with pistachios and a control diet.
Eleven trials including a total of 1593 subjects met the inclusion criteria. Compared to the group on a control diet, the pistachio diet group showed lower BMI values (WMD -0.18 kg/m; 95% confidence interval [CI] -0.26, -0.11 kg/m; I = 29.8%) and no differences in body weight (WMD -0.22 kg; 95% CI -0.50, 0.07 kg; I = 0.0%) or waist circumference (WMD 0.76 cm; 95% CI -0.11, 1.63 cm; I = 7.0%).
A diet with pistachios reduced BMI and had no significant effects on body weight and waist circumference.

Colonic telangiectasia, also known as colonic angiodysplasia, refers to arteriovenous malformations that occur in the colon, which are common vascular lesions in the GI tract.
We report a patient, who was admitted to our hospital for colonoscopy.
Under a microscope, all the segments of the whole colon and the varicose veins showed multiple flaky spider-like telangiectasia changes. The blood vessels were radially distributed and converged in the center. The largest blood vessel was about 10 mm in diameter and had a smooth surface with no ulcers, erosion, or bleeding.
It was recommended that the patient undergo a capsule endoscopy to examine small intestine.
The patient did not agree to endoscopy for personal reasons. During the follow-up half a year later, the patient had no melena with normal range of hemoglobin and red blood cell counts. The fecal occult blood test came out negative.
While the etiology of colonic telangiectasia remains unclear, it is common in the elderly, and is more associated than 90%. This procedure should be performed when there is no bleeding or a small amount of bleeding.
Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is a chronic, immune-mediated disease characterized by the destruction of insulin producing cells and persistent hyperglycemia. At present, the drugs for type 1 diabetes mellitus can reduce blood glucose rapidly and effectively, but there are risks of hypoglycemia, large fluctuation of blood glucose, and chronic complications. Related research found that compared with continuous hyperglycemia, blood glucose fluctuations are more harmful to the chronic complications of diabetes. Blood glucose variation is closely related to the occurrence and development of chronic complications of diabetes. Sancai powder (SC) is made on the basis of 3 ancient Chinese medicine formulas, which has the effect of lowering blood glucose. There have been reports on the clinical study of SC in the treatment of diabetic patients, but there is no systematic evaluation of SC in the treatment of type 1 diabetes, so it is necessary to summarize and evaluate the existing evidence.
This study will be conl then be performed by funnel plot analysis and Egger test. Finally, we will use the "grading, evaluation, development and evaluation of recommendations" system to assess the quality of evidence.
The results of this systematic review and meta-analysis will be published in a peer-reviewed journal.
In our study, the evidence of SC in the treatment of reducing blood sugar fluctuation in type 1 diabetes will be comprehensively summarized and carefully evaluated. It will provide more options for clinical treatment of the disease.

Obesity represents a risk factor in case of major hepatectomy, because the future liver remnant (FLR) must be proportional with body weight. To avoid post-hepatectomy liver failure, and further increase the ratio between FLR and body weight, we performed a bariatric procedure in the first stage of the ALPPS technique.
Fifty-four-year-old woman, with morbid obesity (BMI 58.5) and type II diabetes mellitus, was scheduled for a major hepatectomy due to multiple colorectal liver metastases DIAGNOSIS Six months before, the patient was diagnosed with colorectal cancer and synchronous liver metastases. She was initially treated with sigmoidectomy and chemotherapy. After partial response of the liver metastases, we considered a liver resection but the FLR was very low, especially in relation to her BMI.
We planned a novel approach and, for the first time, we performed a sleeve gastrectomy during the first stage of Tourniquet ALPPS (T-ALPPS). After achieving an adequate FLR, we successfully completed the major hstage of ALPPS. The major hepatectomy was performed without severe complications, and several months after surgery the patient is still alive without any recurrence Conclusion Despite obesity represents a risk factor involved in the carcinogenesis, the role of the bariatric surgery in the oncological setting is not well established. In this clinical case, we benefited from the weight loss produced by bariatric surgery combined with an effective hypertrophy technique and chemotherapy. These findings suggest that bariatric surgery could be useful for obese patients with liver malignancy and need for extended hepatectomy. This survey aimed to evaluate the prevalence of low health literacy and correlations of demographic characteristics with low health literacy risk in residents of Anhui province.A total of 5120 residents of Anhui province were interviewed in this cross-sectional survey, and 4816 (94.1%) gave valid responses. Sociodemographic characteristics were collected. Health literacy and its 3 subscales, including basic knowledge and concepts, lifestyle, and health-related skill, were assessed. Low health literacy was defined as less then 80.0% of the total score or score of each subscale.Mean total health literacy score was 62.7±17.2 (maximum 100 points), and was 31.5 ± 9.0 (maximum 47 points), 17.0 ± 4.8 (maximum 28 points), and 14.2 ± 4.1 (maximum 25 points) in terms of basic knowledge and concepts score, lifestyle score, and health-related skill score, respectively. The prevalence of low health literacy was 81.4%, and was 71.3% in terms of basic knowledge and concepts subscale, 87.9% with regard to lifestyle subscale, and 86.
