To investigate the effect of the 8th American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) pathological prognostic staging on chemotherapy decision-making for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients with T1-2N0M0 disease.

Patients diagnosed with T1-2N0M0 TNBC were retrieved from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results program. Statistical methods including Kaplan-Meier survival curve, receiver operating characteristics curve, and Cox proportional hazard model.

We identified 12,156 patients, including 9371 (77.1%) patients who received chemotherapy. Overall, 57.4% of patients (n=6975) were upstaged after being reassigned by the 8th AJCC staging. However, the 8th staging of AJCC did not have a greater prognostic value compared to the 7th staging (P=0.064). The receipt of chemotherapy significantly improved the breast cancer-specific survival for stage T1c and T2 tumors (P<0.001), but not for stage T1a (P=0.188) and T1b (P=0.376) tumors. Using AJCC 8th staging, chemotherapy benefit was only found in stage IIA patients (P=0.002), but not for stage IA (P=0.653) and IB (P=0.492) patients. There were 9564 patients with stage T1c and T2 diseases and 4979 patients with 8th AJCC stage IIA disease. Therefore, approximately half of patients (47.9%, n=4585) may be safe to omit chemotherapy using the AJCC 8th staging compared to the current chemotherapy recommendation for T1-2N0M0 TNBC.

In patients with obesity, the distribution of subcutaneous tissue can make blood pressure measurement on the standard location of the upper arm difficult. In these cases, alternative locations, such as the lower arm or wrist, are commonly used. It is unknown whether there is a discrepancy in these measurements for pregnant patients at extremes of body mass index.

We hypothesized that noninvasive blood pressure measurements on the lower arm and wrist will differ from blood pressure measurements on the upper arm and that this difference will be greater with increasing body mass index.

We conducted a prospective observational study of pregnant patients from July 2020 to August 2020. We collected study subjects' biometric measurements and took 3 blood pressure measurements (systolic and diastolic blood pressures) from the upper arm, lower arm, and wrist. Measurements on the lower arm and wrist were considered alternative locations and compared with measurements on the upper arm. In this study, a novel β-glucosidase gene isolated from metagenomic library of mangrove sediment was cloned and overexpressed in Escherichia coli BL21(DE3). The purified recombination β-glucosidase, designated as r-Bgl66, showed high catalytic activity for soy isoflavone glycosides. It converted soy isoflavone flour extract with the productivities of 0.87 mM/h for daidzein, 0.59 mM/h for genistein and 0.42 mM/h for glycitein. The kcat/Km values for daidzin, genistin and glycitin were 208.73, 222.37 and 288.07 mM-1 s-1, respectively. BOTOX® can migrate from the muscle to the brain through retrograde axonal transport and modulate neuroplasticity. While a mild dose of BOTOX® has been used to manage various neurological deficits and psychiatric complications including depression, the efficacy and experimental evidence for its anxiolytic effects and antioxidant properties remain limited. In this study, we have investigated the effect of BOTOX® on the innate anxiety-like behaviours in ageing mice upon exposure to different behavioural paradigms like open field test, elevated plus maze and light-dark box test, and estimated the enzymatic activities of key antioxidants in the hippocampus. Results revealed that animals injected with a mild intramuscular dosage of BOTOX® showed reduced level of innate anxiety-related symptoms and increased activities of hippocampal antioxidant enzymes compared to the control group. In this study, we were aiming at understanding the importance of CMA in breast cancer. To this end, we examined the expression of the CMA markers HSP8 and LAMP2A in different breast cancer cell lines and found a wide range of LAMP2A expression levels across the cell lines analyzed. Next, we applied a specific immunohistochemical staining protocol to a tissue microarray derived from a cohort of 365 breast cancer patients. Therefore, we were able to find a correlation of high LAMP2A but not HSPA8 (HSC70) with worse disease free survival in patients with HER2 negative tumors (p = 0.026) which was independent prognostic parameter from pT category, pN category and grading in a multivariate model (HR = 1.889; 95% CI = 1.039-3.421; p = 0.037). Our data suggest that LAMP2A supports a more severe breast cancer cell phenotype.The main goal of this study is to investigate the impact of a variety of factors on the frequency and the severity of pedestrian-vehicle collisions that involve pedestrian violations. To that end, the collision dataset of the City of Hamilton between 2010 and 2017 was reviewed to filter out pedestrian collisions that involved pedestrian violations. A Latent Class Analysis (LCA) method was applied to divide the dataset into a set of homogeneous clusters, based on traffic and intersection characteristics. A copula-based multivariate model was then developed for each cluster in order to study the impact of the different factors on collisions under the prevailing conditions of each cluster. The results showed that the number of bus stops within the intersection area is directly associated with the frequency and the severity of collisions involving pedestrian violations. A reduction in collisions was observed with the increase in the frequency of buses at intersections that are located along main transit routes. Moreover, the presence of schools near the intersection tends to increase the frequency of collisions involving pedestrian violations, especially at large intersections. The results also revealed that the presence of central refuge islands, despite their overall safety benefits, increases the likelihood of collisions involving pedestrian violations in large intersections. The results of this study provide valuable insights for a better understanding of the safety consequences of pedestrian violations. Such understanding assists engineers and planners to design intersections that reduce the frequency of pedestrian violations and mitigate their negative safety consequences.This research evaluated the effects of multi-frequency ultrasound assisted freezing (UAF) on the freezing rate, structural characteristics, and quality properties of cultured large yellow croaker. The freezing effects with triple ultrasound-assisted freezing (TUF) at 20, 28 and 40 kHz under 175 W was more obvious than that of single ultrasound-assisted freezing (SUF) at 20 kHz and dual ultrasound-assisted freezing (DUF) at 20 and 28 kHz. The results showed that UAF significantly increased the freezing rate and better preserved the quality of frozen large yellow croaker samples. Specifically, the quality parameters of the TUF-treated samples were closer to those of the fresh samples, with greater texture characteristics, a larger water holding capacity (lower thawing loss and cooking loss), lower K values and lower thiobarbituric acid reactive substances values. Light microscopy observation images revealed that the ice crystals formed by TUF were fine and evenly distributed, resulting in less damage to the frozen large yellow croaker samples. Therefore, multi-frequency UAF could improve the quality properties of the large yellow croaker samples.In this work, a metal-organic framework material, zeolitic imidazolate framework-90 (ZIF-90), was firstly used to encapsulate laccase (LAC) and to prepare ZIF-90/LAC biocomposites. Afterward, the composites were combined with bacterial cellulose (BC) and carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (c-MWCNTs) by a facile method to achieve a novel cellulose membrane with biocatalytic function, displaying excellent detection and degradation properties towards phenolic pollutant. Notably, the membrane was directly employed as a biosensor electrode, and it exhibited a linear response to catechol from 20 to 400 μM with a detection limit of 1.86 µM (S/N = 3), as well as satisfactory selectivity, reproducibility, and stability. In addition, the biocatalytic membrane showed higher degradation efficiency towards catechol than pure LAC, and the catechol degradation efficiency of the membrane generally ranged from 93.4% to 82.1% for five cycles. Moreover, the membrane was successfully applied in enzyme membrane reactor (EMR), achieving satisfactory results.
