Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is one of the most common cancers in the world and it accounts for more than 90% of oral cancers. In this study, we tried to estimate the risk of early postoperative recurrence, secondary tumor and metastasis of OSCC to predict the patient's prognosis according to its clinical condition to help increase their survival by screening high-risk patients. 153 patients with OSCC who were over 40 years of age were studied during 1985-2020. The influencing factors included gender, race, stage of tumor progression, treatment method, histological grade and tumor location, date of diagnosis and death, which were analyzed by the Markov multi-state model. Also, their saliva was sampled to determine the amount of Matrix Metalloproteinase13 (MMP13). Following-up of patients for 60 months showed that one year after the end of treatment, the probability of death was almost the same for patients with early postoperative recurrence or secondary tumor, but after 5 years, patients with early postoperative recurrence are at higher risk of death. Also, the MMP13 amount in the saliva of patients showed that high levels of MMP13 belonged to metastasis of OSCC than early postoperative recurrence and secondary tumor. Therefore, patients with more amount of MMP13 are more involved in metastasis than early postoperative recurrence and secondary tumor. Approximate knowledge of OSCC patients' next state and time according to their clinical condition can be one of the ways of timely diagnosis and treatment and thus reduce their mortality rate.Nasal polyps are the most common benign nasal tumors that can lead to nasal obstruction and other annoying problems for the patient. Several hypotheses have been proposed as the basic mechanism of nasal polyps. In order to investigate one of the possible causes that can be a disorder in the regulation of systemic immune responses, the present study was designed to investigate the relationship between plasma cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDK5) levels and local immunoglobulin levels in patients with nasal polyps. A cross-section study was used to evaluate concentrations of local immunoglobulin levels (IgE, IgM, IgA, and IgG) on blood and polyp specimens from 60 patients with nasal polyps, and 60 control groups. Western Blot Analysis was done for CDK5 in plasma cells. IgA, IgG and IgE concentrations were significantly higher in polyp tissue specimens, but not in blood, of nasal polyp patients compared to the control group. Furthermore, plasma CDK5 levels were significantly higher in nasal polyp tissue compared with control. The difference in IgA, IgE and IgG expression between nasal polyp tissue and blood, supported by increased numbers of plasma cells, suggests a local production of these local immunoglobulins in nasal polyps in response to chronic antigens. Among local immunoglobulins, only there was a significant correlation between CDK5 with IgG (positive correlation) and IgE (negative correlation). The exact explanation for the relationship between plasma CDK5 and local immunoglobulins in nasal polyps needs further studies.Lobar pneumonia is an inflammatory condition of the lung that mainly affects the lobes of the lungs and the alveoli, and it is usually caused by a bacterial infection. There are many ways to diagnosis this disease. But an early and accurate method for lobar pneumonia diagnosis has an important role in its treatment. Therefore, in this study, a comparison between the molecular diagnostic test and chest x-ray combined with multi-slice spiral CT was done to find out better diagnosis of lobar pneumonia. For this purpose, 122 individuals suspected of lobar pneumonia were studied by clinical examination, chest X-ray, and multi-slice spiral CT. For the molecular diagnosis test, the multiplex PCR was used for two main causes of the disease, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Results showed that the specificity for Chest X-ray + Multi-slice Spiral CT had the highest amount (82.8%), but high sensitivity (100%) belonged to a molecular diagnostic test for both bacteria. On the other hand, the sensitivity and specificity of Streptococcus pneumoniae were better than Klebsiella pneumoniae and the possibility of error in Streptococcus pneumoniae was lower than Klebsiella pneumoniae. In general, although the Chest X-ray + Multi-slice Spiral CT method was better than the molecular diagnosis test, it could not identify the causative agent and did not show a difference between pathogens for better antibiotic treatment, and also the possibility of diagnosis is low at the beginning of the disease. Therefore, according to the results of the current study, the best way to diagnose lobar pneumonia is to use both methods, simultaneously.Osteoarthritis is a joint disease that causes degeneration of articular cartilage and involvement of subcutaneous bone and inflammation of surrounding tissues. It can affect any joints, but the most common joints are the joints of the hands, feet, knees, thighs, and spine. Osteoarthritis patients need surgery in acute cases. The use of methods that increase the efficiency of this surgery has always been considered by researchers and surgeons. For this purpose, in the current study, the effect of synthesized cartilage tissue from human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells was considered in orthopedic spine surgery in patients with osteoarthritis. Thirty patients over the age of 60 who had acute spinal osteoarthritis and required surgery were selected. The pellet culture system of human adipose-derive mesenchymal stem cells of each patient was used to construct cartilage tissue. For 15 of them, in addition to implants, cartilage grafts were transplanted during surgery. All patients were monitored by the Oswestry Disability Index questionnaire, for one year. In general, the results showed that over time, patients with transplanted cartilage tissue and implants were in a better condition than patients who underwent only implant surgery.Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is menstrual bleeding in abnormal volume, duration, or time, and it is a common problem in women. A wide range of drug therapies, with varying efficacy, is available for women with dysfunctional uterine bleeding. The use of herbal and traditional medicine is one of the ways to treat this disease, which has fewer side effects than chemical drugs. On the other hand, these medicines have less effect on treatment than chemical drugs. Therefore, increasing their effectiveness in the treatment of diseases has always been important. For this purpose, in this study, a comparison was done between direct use and PLGA nanocapsules containing Tiaojing Zhixue, in the treatment of dysfunctional uterine bleeding. First, PLGA nanocapsules containing Tiaojing Zhixue were synthesized by the electrospray technique. Then 80 women with dysfunctional uterine bleeding were treated with this medicine. These people were divided into two groups of 40 people. The first group was treated with 20mg of Tiaojing Zhixue and the other group was treated with PLGA nanocapsules containing Tiaojing Zhixue for eight months. The duration and frequency of bleeding from one month before the start of treatment and during the eight months after the start of treatment (second, fourth, and eighth month) were assessed in two groups. The two groups were homogeneous in terms of mean frequency of bleeding and mean duration of bleeding before starting treatment. The positive response in the PLGA nanocapsules treatment group (75%) was higher than the direct use drug treatment group (42.5%) (P less then 0.01). The rate of side effects was the same in each group. Due to the effectiveness of PLGA nanocapsules in the treatment of dysfunctional uterine bleeding and the lack of side effects, it can be considered as an alternative medicine for the treatment of this disorder.Chaihu-shugan-san, as a traditional Chinese herbal formula, is composed of seven different herbs. This medicine can treat cancer due to its antioxidant compounds. In this study, the effect of Chaihu-shugan-san was considered on cytotoxicity induction and PDGF gene expression in cervical cancer cell line HeLa at different concentrations and at different times, by the MTT method. Paclitaxel + cisplatin were used as a control in this study. The expression of the PDGF gene was quantitatively evaluated in treated cells by real-time PCR, and a generalized linear model was used to evaluate the effect of the medicine, and Duncan's multiple range tests were used to evaluate the data. The results of the MTT test showed that Chaihu-shugan-san had antitumor properties in different concentrations, but there was a significant difference between this medicine and paclitaxel +cisplatin. Also, examination of gene expression showed that this medicine reduced the expression of the PDGF gene in the HeLa cancer cell line (P ? 0.04). Therefore, Chaihu-shugan-san could be suggested as an effective factor in preventing the growth of cervical cancer cells and controlling angiogenic factors that play an important role in the metastasis of cancerous tumors.Atherosclerosis is a disease that covers the arteries of the middle to large arteries and can affect the aorta to the coronary arteries. Atherosclerosis is a progressive and slow process that begins in childhood and leads to clinical manifestations in adulthood. Increased activity of the NADPH oxidase complex plays an important role in the development of this complication. In this study, the clinical effects of resveratrol were considered on atherosclerosis treatment and its effect on the expression of NADPH oxidase complex genes was performed in the vascular smooth muscle cell line. For this purpose, 120 Chinese Patients prone to atherosclerosis participated for 12 months. These patients were divided into two groups of 60 patients. The first group was treated to the placebo and the second group was treated to 100 mg/day resveratrol for 12 months. Also, the expression of gp91Phox and P22Phox subunits of NADPH oxidase complex was evaluated in vascular smooth muscle cells by real-time PCR technique. The results showed that resveratrol could decrease systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, cholesterol, triglyceride, and low-density lipoprotein (LDL). This study aimed to determine the effect of TENS on pain control after cesarean section and its effect on PNMT gene expression. For this purpose, a double-blind randomized clinical trial was performed on 70 Chinese patients with elective cesarean section. Patients were divided into case and control groups. In the case group, TENS and analgesic drugs were used to relieve pain, and in the control group, the only analgesic drug was used. Then the severity of pain, recurrence of pain attacks, the number of analgesic drugs used and the amount of analgesic drug used in the first 24 hours after surgery were evaluated and compared. Blood samples were also taken from patients to evaluate PNMT gene expression. The semi-quantitative RT-PCR was used to study changes in gene expression. The results showed that the group treated with TENS had less pain intensity and less recurrence of pain attacks than the group that received only analgesic medication.
