More than three quarters of dog keepers had similar serovars as their dogs, necessitating one health approach to control measures in endemic areas. As highly effective CFTR modulator therapies (HEMT) emerge, there is an unmet need to find effective drugs for people with CF (PwCF) with ultra-rare mutations who are too few for classical clinical trials and for whom there are no drug discovery programs. Therefore, biomarkers reliably predicting the benefit from CFTR modulator therapies are essential to find effective drugs for PwCF through personalized approaches termed theranostics. Here, we assess CFTR basal function and the individual responses to CFTR modulators in primary human nasal epithelial (pHNE) cells from PwCF carrying rare mutations and compare these measurements with those in native rectal biopsies and intestinal organoids, respectively, in the same individual. The basal function in pHNEs shows good correlation with CFTR basal function in rectal biopsies. In parallel, CFTR rescue in pHNEs by CFTR modulators correlates to that in intestinal organoids. Altogether, results show that pHNEs are a bona fide theranostic model to assess CFTR rescue by CFTR modulator drugs, in particular for PwCF and rare mutations.Dietary plant polyphenols are natural bioactive compounds that are increasingly attracting the attention of food scientists and nutritionists because of their nutraceutical properties. In fact, many studies have shown that polyphenol-rich diets have protective effects against most chronic diseases. However, these health benefits are strongly related to both polyphenol content and bioavailability, which in turn depend on their origin, food matrix, processing, digestion, and cellular metabolism. Although most fruits and vegetables are valuable sources of polyphenols, they are not usually consumed raw. Instead, they go through some processing steps, either industrially or domestically (e.g., cooling, heating, drying, fermentation, etc.), that affect their content, bioaccessibility, and bioavailability. This review summarizes the status of knowledge on the possible (positive or negative) effects of commonly used food-processing techniques on phenolic compound content and bioavailability in fruits and vegetables. These effects depend on the plant type and applied processing parameters (type, duration, media, and intensity). This review attempts to shed light on the importance of more comprehensive dietary guidelines that consider the recommendations of processing parameters to take full advantage of phenolic compounds toward healthier foods.Counting the number of people and estimating their walking speeds are essential in crowd control and flow. In this work, we propose a system that uses prevalent Wi-Fi signals to identify the number of people entering and leaving a room through a door. It selects the best subcarrier of Wi-Fi signals and applies the Hampel filter to remove outlier information first. Then, it employs a double threshold method to determine the start and end times of entering or leaving. Afterward, it compares the detected signals with the precollected database using the dynamic time-warping algorithm and determines the number of people. It uses a variance threshold method to identify the states of entering or leaving. It also employs a nonlinear fitting approach to calculate the walking speeds. Tazemetostat The experiments show that, in a large empty laboratory, the accuracy rates in determining the number of people are 100% for one person, 81% for two persons, and 95% for three persons. In a small office, the accuracy rates for detecting the number of people are 98% for one or two persons, 82% for three persons, 93% for four, and 75% for five persons. For the walking speed estimation, the accuracy rate for a speed error of less than 0.2410 m/s is 75% for a single person. This study aims to explore the wear performance of maraging 18Ni-300 steel, fabricated via laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). The building direction dependence of wear resistance was investigated with various wear loads and in terms of ball-on-disk wear tests. The effect of direct aging heat treatment, i.e., aging without solution heat treatment, on the wear performance was investigated by comparing the wear rates of directly aged samples, followed by solution heat treatment. The effect of counterpart material on the wear performance of the maraging steel was studied using two counterpart materials of bearing steel and ZrO2 balls. When the bearing steel ball was used as the counterpart material, both the as-built and heat-treated maraging steel produced by the LPBF showed pronounced building direction dependence on their wear performance when the applied wear load was sufficiently high. However, when the ZrO2 ball was used as the counterpart material, isotropic wear resistance was reported. The maraging steel produced by the LPBF demonstrated excellent wear resistance, particularly when it was aging heat-treated and the counterpart material was ZrO2. The directly aged sample showed wear performance almost the same as the sample solution heat-treated and then aged, indicating that direct aging can be used as an alternative post heat treatment for tribological applications of the maraging steels produced by LPBF.Fact verification aims to verify the authenticity of a given claim based on the retrieved evidence from Wikipedia articles. Existing works mainly focus on enhancing the semantic representation of evidence, e.g., introducing the graph structure to model the evidence relation. However, previous methods can't well distinguish semantic-similar claims and evidences with distinct authenticity labels. In addition, the performances of graph-based models are limited by the over-smoothing problem of graph neural networks. To this end, we propose a graph-based contrastive learning method for fact verification abbreviated as CosG, which introduces a contrastive label-supervised task to help the encoder learn the discriminative representations for different-label claim-evidence pairs, as well as an unsupervised graph-contrast task, to alleviate the unique node features loss in the graph propagation. We conduct experiments on FEVER, a large benchmark dataset for fact verification. Experimental results show the superiority of our proposal against comparable baselines, especially for the claims that need multiple-evidences to verify.
