The ODE resolved in all cases at a mean follow-up of 4.5 months (range 3 to 6 months). Optic disc edema with preserved visual function may not be related to papilledema, and this series indicates that optic perineuritis, incipient NAION, hypertensive emergency, and intermediate uveitis be considered in the differential diagnosis of these cases.Several studies have identified risk factors that predict future onset of eating disorders (ED) in adolescence, however, it is currently unknown how specific ED symptom dynamics operate both across time and within individuals. Advances in network methodologies allow for the study of how dynamic symptoms interrelate and predict each other within-persons and across time. In the current study, we used longitudinal group-level (N = 1272) (addressing symptom interrelations across people and across time; between-subjects, contemporaneous, and temporal networks) and intra-individual (symptom interrelations within each person and across time; contemporaneous and temporal networks) network analyses (subset n = 50) in prospective 48-month interview data in at-risk adolescents and young adults. We computed between-subject networks (how symptoms are associated on average, for group sample only), contemporaneous networks (how symptoms are associated at one time point, accounting for previous time points), and temporal networks (examining how symptoms predict each other across time). We replicated prior network results which suggest that overvaluation of weight and shape are central in at-risk adolescents and young adults. We found that individual networks (n = 1 networks) were highly variable across individuals. Overall, our results show how both group-level and longitudinal intra-individual network analysis can inform our understanding of how EDs develop in adolescence and point to the importance of conceptualizing development on an individual level of analysis.
Boron (B) is thought to play key role in proper bone growth and development as well as have some role in regulation of minerals such as calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P) and magnesium (Mg) which act synergistically with vitamin D.
Present study was planned in two phases to assess the effect of optimum and supranutritional levels of (B) in the form of boric acid (BA) supplementation on bone health of growing cross bred calves.
During Phase-1, twenty four male crossbred calves were blocked into four groups (n = 6) on the basis of their body weight (154.83 ± 8.5 kg), age (7-9 months) and were supplemented with 0 (C), 2.6 (T-1), 5.4 (T-2) and 10.7 (T-3) g BA for appropriate B (0.175 adjustment factor to calculate B form BA) consumption i.e. 0, 100, 200 and 400 ppm in each group respectively, for 90 days. During phase 2, twenty-one male crossbred calves were divided into 3 groups (n = 7) on the basis of their body weight (103.76 ± 4.34 kg) and age (5-8 months). check details All the groups were on similar dietary regimen with
In this study, an investigation was made of the effect of the use of a stress ball, a method of distraction-attracting the attention elsewhere - on stress, vital signs andcomfort levels in hemodialysis patients.
This randomized, controlled experimental study, between July 2019 and September 2019 was carried out in a dialysis unit in the inner regions of Turkey. The study was conducted with 45 patients (23 experiments, 22 controls) who were receiving hemodialysis treatment. The experimental group were asked to squeeze a stress ball for approximately 10-15min throughout eight successive dialysis sessions. The data were obtained with an Individual Description Form, the Distress Thermometer and the Hemodialysis Comfort Scale.
At the end of the study, no significant difference was found in the vital signs and comfort levels of the experimental and control groups (p>0.05). However, while the stress score of the experimental group decreased significantly, the stress score of the control groups increased (p<0.05).
This study shows that although the use of the stress ball did not affect vital signs and comfort in hemodialysis patients, it had a positive effect on stress.

Collagen extraction after fermentation pretreatment has not been reported. We extracted and characterized acid-soluble collagen (ASC) and pepsin-soluble collagen (PSC) from Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) skin following fermentation and chemical treatments and comparatively evaluated the feasibility of fermentation. Fermentation-ASC (FASC) and fermentation-PSC (FPSC) yields (4.76 and 8.14 wt%, respectively) were slightly but not significantly higher than chemical-ASC (CASC) and chemical-PSC (CPSC) yields (4.27 and 7.60 wt%, respectively). All extracts were identified as type I collagens by SDS-PAGE and retained their triple helical structure well, as confirmed through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. All collagen microstructures under scanning electron microscopy were multi-layered aggregates. These collagens also had similar biochemical properties (i.e. denatured between 36.5 and 37.1 °C, high soluble at pH 1-4 and at less then 3% [w/v] NaCl). Therefore, fermentation method is a viable alternative for pretreating collagen extraction materials. In this study, sodium tripolyphosphate (STP) and tetrasodium pyrophosphate (TSPP) were utilized to modify duck egg white protein (EWP). The phosphorylated EWP was prepared as egg white gel (EWG) by adding sodium hydroxide. The phosphorus content of EWP reached 2.18 mg/g and 2.07 mg/g with the addition of STP and TSPP, respectively, after 2 h phosphorylation. The average particle size, absolute zeta potential value, and surface hydrophobicity of EWP increased significantly during phosphorylation. FTIR results indicate that phosphorylation reduced the random structure and α-helical content while increasing the content of β-sheets and β-turn. The mechanical and rheological properties of EWG decreased obviously after phosphorylation. A three-dimensional porous network microstructure was formed, and the gel with added TSPP had larger pores. Adding STP and TSPP to EWG weakened its salt and solvent sensitivity. The findings provide a direction for the exploration of gel properties after protein modification.
