The mean latency period between initiation of the drug and onset of PPK was 7.6 months (range 0.25-90 months). Improvement of PPK was reported in 24 cases, with 50% (
= 12/24) achieving complete resolution and 50% (
= 12/24) achieving partial resolution. All patients who achieved complete resolution stopped the suspected drug, with a mean resolution period of 2.4 months (range 2 weeks-6 months). The most common treatments for PPK were keratolytic treatments (
= 10) and topical corticosteroids (
= 4).
PPK was most frequently associated with targeted kinase inhibitors, specifically BRAF, MEK1/2, and tyrosine kinase inhibitors.

Research has shown that negative attitudes toward a different child can appear very early in development. Unfortunately, these negative attitudes are one of the most important barriers to the school inclusion of children with autism. Despite the increasing amount of research, no tool reliably measures these attitudes among young students. The objective of this study was to develop and validate a questionnaire (Children's Attitudes Toward Autism Questionnaire) to evaluate attitudes of students in elementary school toward their peers with autism. Elementary school students (
= 204) completed the Children's Attitudes Toward Autism Questionnaire and two other scales assessing behavioral intentions toward peers with a mental disability (Shared Activities Questionnaire-B) and familiarity with disability and autism. Results first showed that the Children's Attitudes Toward Autism Questionnaire reliably measured the concept of attitude through three sub-dimensions (namely, the cognitive, affective, and behavioralldren, and children familiar with disability. In conclusion, the Children's Attitudes Toward Autism Questionnaire is the first scale (1) to assess all the dimensions of attitudes toward autism among elementary school children (from the age of 6 years old) and (2) to show theoretical and statistical relevance. From now on, the Children's Attitudes Toward Autism Questionnaire can be used to assess attitudes of young children toward their peers with autism. This is an important step forward, in particular for evaluating the effects of anti-stigma programs that are increasingly implemented in schools.
To report the visual and anatomic outcomes in treatment-naïve neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) patients treated with aflibercept under a standardized Treat and Extend (T&E) protocol for up to 3 years of follow-up in "real-life" practice.
This retrospective, observational, multicenter study included patients with treatment-naïve nAMD and at least 12 months of follow-up. T&E regimen adjustment was initiated after loading phase. At each visit best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and optical coherence tomography parameters were performed.
One hundred and thirty-six eyes of 115patients had at least 1 year of follow-up with 114 and 82 eyes completing at least 2 and 3 years of follow-up, respectively (mean follow-up duration 2.7 ± 1.3 years). Mean age was 78.6 ± 8.6 years old and 52% were women. Mean BCVA increased from 60.6 ± 18.7 letters at diagnosis to 66.9 ± 16.2 letters at 1 year (+6.3 letters,
= 0.003) and remained stable throughout the follow-up period (63.1 ± 20.3 letters (or patients with treatment-naïve nAMD allow for significant visual improvement at 12 months, which was maintained over a 3-year follow-up period. The purpose of this study is to identify the determinants of perceived health status among Laotian aged 40 to 59. A total of 922 men or women in their 40's or 50's living in Vientiane Capital and Province, Lao People's Democratic Republic were included in the study. Hierarchical multiple regression was used to analyze the data. Perceived health status was negatively correlated with chance health locus of control and physical symptom frequency and positively correlated with doctors health locus of control. Age, drinking, difficulty in health utilization, physical activity, physical symptom frequency, and doctors health locus of control explained 23.5% of the variance in perceived health. To prevent the non-communicable disease, action should be taken not only at the individual level but also at the healthcare system level. In the health care fields, the targeted intervention based on the findings of this study should be devised.
Postmortem imaging has become a powerful diagnostic tool in forensics. Postmortem computed tomography (PMCT) is often used currently to complement and sometimes even replace an autopsy.
To compare PMCT, postmortem magnetic resonance imaging (PMMRI), and autopsy findings for gunshot wounds to the head.
Cross-sectional study. We performed a retrospective analysis of 24 cases with gunshot wounds to the head that underwent both PMCT and PMMRI between 2011 and 2018 at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, University of Zurich (Switzerland).
Our study confirms that PMCT and, to a slightly lesser degree, PMMRI provide additional information that is valuable when combined with autopsy findings. Air embolism was solely detected in PMCT (67% vs. 0% at autopsy). A retained bullet or projectile and bone fragments were diagnosed more frequently with PMCT (42%, 67%, and 92%) than at autopsy (33%, 42%, and 46%). Soft tissue lesions were more often detected with PMMRI than with PMCT. With regard to autopsy, subdural hemorrhage and ventricular hemorrhage were slightly more frequently diagnosed with PMMRI (63% and 75% vs. 38% and 58% at autopsy). Intracerebral hemorrhage was by far most often diagnosed with PMMRI (92%) compared with both PMCT (38%) and autopsy (14%).
All three modalities should ideally be considered in cases of craniocerebral gunshot wounds. SRT1720 in vitro However, it might be conceivable that depending on the forensic query, PMCT and PMMRI may be an adequate replacement for an autopsy.
