KGaA, Weinheim. The first example of CO 2 -responsive spin state conversion between high-spin (HS) and low-spin (LS) states at room temperature was achieved in a monomeric cobalt(II) complex. A neutral cobalt(II) complex, [Co II (COO-terpy) 2 ]·4H 2 O ( 1·4H 2 O ), stably formed cavities generated via π-π stacking motifs and hydrogen bond networks, resulted in the accommodation of four water molecules. A crystalline 1·4H 2 O transformed to the solvent-free 1 without loss of the porosity by heating up to 420 K. Compound 1 exhibited a selective carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) adsorption via a gate-open type of the structural modification. Furthermore, the HS/LS transition temperature ( T 1/2 ) was able to be tuned by the CO 2 -pressure over a wide temperature range. beta-catenin inhibitor Unlike 1 exhibits the HS state at 290 K, the CO 2 -accomodated form 1⊃CO 2 ( P CO2 = 110 kPa) was stabilized in the LS state at 290 K probably caused by "chemical pressure" effect by CO 2 accommodation, which provides reversible spin-state conversion by introducing/evacuating CO 2 gas into/from 1 . This result represents an important advance providing new insights for the development of new gas-responsive functional magnetic materials in the future. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of adjuvant chemotherapy following complete cytoreduction in patients with appendiceal adenocarcinoma. METHODS Retrospective medical record review of all patients with appendiceal adenocarcinoma treated at our institution between 2006 and 2015. Kaplan-Meier plots were used to summarize overall survival (OS) and relapse-free survival over time, and log-rank tests and Cox proportional hazards models were used to test for differences in survival between groups. RESULTS A total of 103 patients with appendiceal adenocarcinoma received care at our institution during the study period. Complete cytoreduction (cytoreductive score 0-1) was achieved in 68 patients (66%). Of these 68 patients, 26 received adjuvant chemotherapy. The most common regimens were capecitabine (n = 11), capecitabine plus oxaliplatin (n = 7), and 5-FU plus oxaliplatin (n = 6). Tumor histopathology and grade, and the ability to achieve complete cytoreduction were significant predictors of overall survival. The median OS for non-low-grade and well-differentiated tumor patients who received adjuvant chemotherapy following complete cytoreduction was 9.03 years, compared to 2.88 years for patients who did not receive adjuvant chemotherapy (P = .02). Among low-grade and well-differentiated tumor patients who underwent complete cytoreduction, there was no statistically significant difference in OS between those who received adjuvant chemotherapy and those who did not. CONCLUSION Adjuvant chemotherapy seems to have benefit in appendiceal cancer patients with non-low-grade or well-differentiated tumor type but not in low-grade or well-differentiated tumors. © 2020 The Authors. link2 Cancer Medicine published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd.RNA processing occurs co-transcriptionally through the dynamic recruitment of RNA processing factors to RNA polymerase II (RNAPII). However, transcriptome-wide identification of protein-RNA interactions specifically assembled on transcribing RNAPII is challenging. Here, we develop the targeted RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing (tRIP-seq) method that detects protein-RNA interaction sites in thousands of cells. The high sensitivity of tRIP-seq enables identification of protein-RNA interactions at functional subcellular levels. Application of tRIP-seq to the FUS-RNA complex in the RNAPII machinery reveals that FUS binds upstream of alternative polyadenylation (APA) sites of nascent RNA bound to RNAPII, which retards RNAPII and suppresses the recognition of the polyadenylation signal by CPSF. Further tRIP-seq analyses demonstrate that the repression of APA is achieved by a complex composed of FUS and U1 snRNP on RNAPII, but not by either one alone. Moreover, our analysis reveals that FUS mutations in familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) that impair the FUS-U1 snRNP interaction aberrantly activate the APA sites. tRIP-seq provides new insights into the regulatory mechanism of co-transcriptional RNA processing by RNA processing factors. © 2020 The Authors.AIM This aim of this study was to determine the association between uterine natural killer (uNK) cell density and chronic endometritis (CE). METHODS Endometrial biopsies from 135 women with recurrent miscarriage were obtained precisely 7 days after luteinizing hormone surge in natural cycles. Endometrial sections were immunostained for CD56 for uNK cells and CD138 for plasma cells, respectively. Uterine NK cell counting was performed according to a standardized protocol and results were expressed as percentage of CD56+ cells/ total stromal cells. High uNK cell density was defined as >4.5% and CE was diagnosed when the plasma cell density > 5.15 cells/ 10 mm2 . RESULTS The uNK cells density in women with CE (median, 5.1%; range, 3.4-8.8%) was significantly (P  less then  0.05) higher than that of those without CE (median, 3.8%; range, 1.2%-7.3%). The prevalence of high uNK cell density in women with CE (11/29, 37.9%) was significantly (P  less then  0.05) higher than that of women without CE (8/106, 7.5%). CONCLUSION To conclude, there was a significant association between high uNK cell density and CE. In women with high uNK cell density, plasma cell should be examined to determine if the underlying cause is associated with CE. © 2020 Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology.AIMS To examine the pertinent issues discussed by endometriosis patients in Malaysia on MyEndosis Facebook group as an alternative platform for online support. METHODS Using thematic analysis based on three frameworks, 120 posted messages and comments were examined from MyEndosis Facebook group-a support group for women with endometriosis from January to July 2014. RESULTS Results showed the issues discussed were (a) personal struggles, (b) medication and treatment, (c) alternative medication, (d) side effects, and (e) medication recommended by doctors. While using this social medium, users found (a) emotional support, (b) esteem support, (c) information support, (d) network support, and (e) tangible assistance in their engagement with others. CONCLUSION The analysis suggested that users' interactions were structured around information, emotion, and community building, which many doctors and nurses were not aware of. The group was shaped as a social network where peer users share social support, cultivate companionship, and exert social influence. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd.An efficient Li-S redox catalyst of MWCNTs covalently modified by cobalt (II) tetraaminophthalocyanines (TaPcCo-MWCNTs) is reported. Effective lithium polysulfide (LiPS) capturing is enabled by the lithiophilic N-containing phthalocyanine rings and the sulfiphilic Co central atoms. This adsorption geometry utilizes the Co unoccupied d-orbitals as electron superexchange highways. Elevated kinetics of LiPSs reactions in the liquid phase as well as liquid-solid transitions are revealed by electrochemical measurements and density functional theory calculations. Uniform deposition of Li 2 S films is also observed that preserves cathode integrity and sulfur utilization during cell cycling. The catalysed sulfur redox is also greatly facilitated by the fast electron and Li-ion transport to and from the reaction sites via the conductive MWCNT skeletons and the lithiophilic substituent amino groups on TaPcCo. With 6 wt% addition of TaPcCo-MWCNT in the cathode coatings, high sulfur utilization is achieved with areal sulfur loadings up to 7 mg cm -2 . Stable long-term cycling is achieved at 1C under 5 mg cm -2 of sulfur loading, with an initial areal capacity of 4.4 mAh cm -2 and a 500-cycle retention of 3.5 mAh cm -2 . Considering the high structural diversity of phthalocyanines macromolecules, this study offers opportunities for a new class of Li-S catalysts. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. This scarcity leads to an ethical dilemma, forcing priority-setting of how these organs should be allocated and whom to leave behind. OBJECTIVE To explore public preferences for the allocation of donor organs in regard to ethical aspects of distributive justice. METHODS Focus groups were facilitated between November and December 2018 at Hannover Medical School. Participants were recruited locally. link3 Transcripts were assessed with content analysis using the deductive framework method. All identified and discussed criteria were grouped according to the principles of distributive justice and reported following the COREQ statement. RESULTS Six focus groups with 31 participants were conducted. Overall, no group made a final decision of how to allocate donor organ; however, we observed that not only a single criterion/principle but rather a combination of criteria/principles is relevant. Therefore, the public wants to allocate organs to save as many lives as possible by both maximizing success for and also giving priority to urgent patients considering the best compatibility. Age, waiting time, reciprocity and healthy lifestyles should be used as additional criteria, while sex, financial status and family responsibility should not, based on aspects of equality. CONCLUSIONS All participants recognized the dilemma that prioritizing one patient might cause another one to die. They discussed mainly the unclear trade-offs between effectiveness/benefit and medical urgency and did not establish an agreement about their importance. The results suggest a need of preference studies to elucidate public preferences in organ allocation. © 2020 The Authors Health Expectations published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd.Treatment adherence is relevant for clinical and economic outcome in affective disorders as well as psychosis. Knowledge concerning the disease and its treatment might influence patients' willingness to follow the health-care providers' recommendations and mutual decision-making. In the current study, we investigated how Internet surfing for health-related issues and attitude toward the relevance of the online information impact treatment adherence in major depressive disorder (MDD) and schizophrenia (SZ). A total of 83 outpatients (59 MDD, 24 SZ) participated in a survey. A multiple linear regression model with "exposure," "attitude," "diagnosis," and their interaction as regressors was significant predictive of medication-adherence rating scores, R2 = .179; 95% CI [0.00, 0.32]. In the MDD group only, more extended exposure to Internet surfing for health-related issues and attribution of higher personal relevance were associated with poorer medication adherence at a statistical trend level, p = .060 and p = .
