symptoms, and were associated with sideropenic anemia. The implementation of the local therapy, systemic CD treatment and supplementation of micronutrient deficiencies have led to a healing of the oral lesions. We emphasize a personalized approach to treatment and close cooperation between the dentist and the gastroenterologist.Peripheral arteries embolism can be located in various organs. It can be caused by many medical conditions, diagnosis and treatment of which allows to prevent further complications.
26-year-old male patient was admitted to the Department of Internal Medicine, Hypertension and Vascular Diseases due to lasting over two months fatigue, recurrent pyrexia, weight loss and abdominal pain. Prior to that, he presented to physician several times. First time because of left foot pain with oedema and fever. USG revealed embolus in anterior tibial artery. Outpatient antibiotic, antithrombotic and anti-inflammatory treatment was given. The symptoms subsided, but appeared in other limb. After a while patient presented with pyrexia, fatigue, abdominal and lumbar region pain and melaena. CT showed infarction of spleen and left kidney. Once again outpatient treatment with amoxicillin with clavulanate was administered. Eventually, at admission to the clinic, infective endocarditis (IE) with dental origin was suspected. Echocain this case.Multiple myeloma (MM) ) is a malignant plasma cell disorder from the group of monoclonal gammopathies. One of the most frequent diagnostic findings is the M-spike in serum protein electrophoresis (SPEP), which is notably absent in a rare non-secretory subtype of this disease.
A case report describes a 55-year old woman with a history of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in stage 3, proteinuria, asthma and Graves' disease. She presented for a diagnosis of proteinuria (of 2,2 g/24 h). Her SPEP was normal, and she underwent a kidney biopsy, which showed mild glomerulal abnormalities. She returned to the clinic after 5 years with progression of CKD (between hospitalizations creatinine rose from 1,27 mg/dl to 2,8) and proteinuria (2,7 g/24 h). She had normocytic anemia, normocalcemia and normal ESR. The SPEP showed no suspicious findings, but suspecting multiple myeloma, immunofixation was performed. It showed excessive levels of kappa FLC in serum and urine. A bone marrow biopsy showed plasmocytes characteristic for MM in both number and phenotype. No osteolytic lesions were shown in diagnostic imaging, and beta-2-microglobulin was elevated to 6,5 μg. Thus, the patient was diagnosed with ISS stage 3 multiple myeloma and referred to a hematology clinic for treatment.
The diagnosis of atypical cases of multiple myeloma may pose a difficulty to clinicians. Knowledge of diagnostic tests is required to introduce proper treatment.

The disease is extremely rare in small children and is always a complication of secondary hypertension.
3-year-old boy (spontaneous delivery, 37 week of gestation, birth weight 2170g, 10 AS, unremarkable family history) was admitted to a hospital because of weight loss (1.5 kg, i.e. approx. 15% in 6 months), anorexia, abdominal and limb pain and lethargy. selleck chemicals On admission, very high blood pressure values (190/150 mm Hg), lean subcutaneous tissue, frequent blinking, height 88 cm (<3c), body weight 9.5 kg (<3c). In additional tests blood morphology, parameters of renal function, ions, gasometry, catecholamine urinary excretion, steroid profile and daily cortisol profile were within normal limits. Elevated plasma renin activity was found. In imaging studies kidneys, adrenal glands and renal arteries were normal. Normotension was not obtained on two antihypertensive drugs - metoprolol and amlodipine. In angio-CT tortuoue performed.
Severe hypertension in pediatric patients can give symptoms as weight loss and behavioral disorders. In the diagnostic of hypertensive crisis in children, neuroimaging studies and toxicological tests should be performed.Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is diagnosed by auscultation and echocardiography in about 2-3% of the general population and takes rather a benign course. However, in some patients, ventricular arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death (SCD) occur, which is linked to mitral annular disjunction (MAD). MAD is defined as distinct separation of the mitral valve annulus-left atrial wall continuum and the basal region of the posterolateral left ventricular (LV) myocardium. MAD results in disturbed inferior-posterior LV wall and posteromedial papillary muscle stretch giving rise to local fibrosis presenting in cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) as late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and posing a substrate for malignant arrhythmia. Multidetector-row computed tomography (MDCT) in MAD patients is still rarely used.

Crushed xenoderm's powder stimulates the regenerative processes of the skin and improves the healing process of wounds, as it is enriched with macro- and microelements, amino acids and other cellular elements necessary for skin regeneration.
The aim of this work was to study the wound-healing effectiveness of the developed gel "Xeliogel" on the animal model of aseptic superficial burns.
Evaluation of the degree of catabolism and membrane-destructive processes was performed by determining the marker enzymes of cytolysis - aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in serum, total protein and middle molecular mass in animals with experimental thermal burns. The developed gel "Xeliogel" was applied to the animals for therapeutic purposes. "Xeliogel" is based on aqueous extraction of xenoderm and with lidocaine hydrochloride. ontrol group and the developed gel is similar to the comparison drug.It is known that every day 2,500 children under the age of 18 try their first cigarette, and more than 400 of them become new, regular smokers, and half of them will die from this addiction in the future.
The aim of the study is to determine changes in the indices of dental status in adolescents with tobacco smoking.
The study involved 54 adolescents aged 12 to 18 years. They were divided into the main group of 25 adolescents with a smoking experience of 1 to 3 years, and a control group of 29 adolescents who were physically healthy at the time of the study and had never smoked. During their visit to dentist for a preventive examination such indexes were investigated as simplified Oral Hygiene Index (OHI-S) (Greene-Vermillion), papillary-marginal-alveolar index (PMA), Fedorov-Volodkina index, caries severity index, index of the need for treatment of periodontal disease and biophysical methods of oral fluid research rate of salivation, elasticity, pH of oral fluid.
The changes in dental status identified everities was established in children and adolescents aged 12-18 years old. Evaluation of oral health indices has been estimated from 0.79 ± 0.19 to 1.9 ± 0.05 (p less then 0.05) for Greene-Vermilion, from 1.5 ± 0.41 to 2.5 ± 0.59 (p less then 0.05) for Fedorov-Volodkina, from 12.0± 2.06% to 36.0 ± 2.04% to for PMA (p less then 0.05) as result of adolescent smoking. Simultaneously we didn't estimate significant difference for caries severity in investigated groups.Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is the most common type of hair loss both in male and female patients. As regards its etiopathology, it is postulated that hair follicles grow sensitive to androgens in persons who are genetically predisposed to it. In the pathomechanism of the disease, hair follicles undergo miniaturization.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the levels of selected hormones (sex hormones, adrenal and thyroid hormones), and the results of laboratory tests (iron metabolism) performed in a group of female patients with AGA in order to specify which of those tests should be taken during the diagnostic process in such patients.
Test results and types of therapies have been analyzed for a group of 106 adult female patients (of different age) with female pattern hair loss (FPHL) of different duration. Selected hormone parameters have been analyzed as well as iron metabolism, BMI ( body mass index), and signs of androgenization in the patients' histories (presence of menstrual disorders, hirsutism anmay be suggestive of hormonal disorders, no significant abnormalities were revealed in hormone tests.
In spite of the fact that nearly half of the patients reported symptoms which may be suggestive of hormonal disorders, no significant abnormalities were revealed in hormone tests. The incidence of symptomatic intervertebral disc hernias in the thoracic segment is estimated at 1 case per million people per year, which is about 0.25-0.75% of all symptomatic intervertebral disc hernias and 0.15-1.85% of operative intervertebral disc diseases.
The aim of the study was to assess the results of the surgical treatment of symptomatic discopathy in the thoracic spine through the posterior approach.
The results of the surgical treatment of 52 patients (35 women, 17 men) with symptomatic thoracic disc herniation in the Department of Neuroorthopedics in the years 2012-2019 were analyzed retrospectively. The neurological and functional status of patients before and after the surgery was assessed, as well as the average duration of the surgery and hospitalization, perioperative complications, intraoperative blood loss and the number of reoperations. Radiculopathy and myelopathy were the main indications for surgery.
The largest group included patients operated on in the 5th and 6th decades of lajority of discopathies in the thoracic spine occur at lower levels, i.e. Th10-Th11-Th12-L1. The analysis of the functional status after the surgery of thoracic discopathy based on 2 scales showed a greater usefulness of the WISCI scale than the Frankel scale. A larger number of patients changed the group after surgery in the WISCI scale than in the Frankel scale. Therefore, we can conclude that the WISCI scale is more accurate in assessing the functional state of patients operated on due to thoracic discopathy. There are currently insufficient study and analysis of changes in cerebral hemodynamics of boxers who have suffered repeated traumatic brain injury (TBI). To identify such changes, the most informative is the study of blood flow in the vessels of the neck and head using ultrasound duplex scanning (USDS) of the main vessels of the neck and transcranial duplex scanning (TCDS).
The aim of study was to investigate the features of cerebral hemodynamics in boxers with repeated TBI.
A study of blood flow in the vessels of the neck and head was performed for 156 amateur boxers aged 16 to 42 years who had a history of repeated TBI. In the control group, 30 practically healthy people of a similar age were examined. Patients were analyzed by gender and the number of fights held. Obtained results were analyzed statistically.
Boxers who have had a history of repeated TBI have hemodynamic disorders. They are characterized by an increase in the velocity of blood flow in extracranial vessels of the carotid basin and a decrease in the vessels of the vertebrobasilar basin with a change in the indicators of vascular resistance.
