ectual disability participate in sport and physical activity at lower rates than the general population. Having a physical mobility impairment was associated with lower rates of participation. However, people living in supported accommodation were more likely to participate than those in other living situations. Having Down syndrome was associated with a higher participation rate than the community sample. The assembly of two different building blocks, [Au(C6 F5 )2 PbCl(terpy)] (terpy=2,2'6'2-terpyridine) and [Au(C6 F5 )2 2 Pb(terpy)]n , acting as terminal or central pieces, respectively, gives rise to a decanuclear complex built via metallophilic and π-stacking interactions in which the number of AuI ⋅⋅⋅AuI and AuI ⋅⋅⋅PbII contacts is finely controlled. The peritrophic matrix (PM) is an acellular membrane that covers the gut epithelium in arthropods and physically separates it from the lumen. The structure is thought to play an important role in tick biology. The PM is also known to impact the persistence of tick-borne pathogens like Borrelia burgdorferi, although limited information is available about its molecular constituents or their biological significance. Herein, we characterise a novel PM-associated gut protein in Ixodes scapularis ticks, annotated as Peritrophic Membrane Chitin Binding Protein (PM_CBP), for its role in the integrity and function of the matrix. The PM_CBP displays homology to the chitin deacetylase metalloenzyme, shows upregulation during tick feeding, and is localized at the luminal surface of the gut epithelium. The structural integrity of the PM was impaired both by the knock down of PM_CBP expression via RNA interference and by treatment with anti-PM_CBP antibodies, as revealed by its electron microscopic appearance. see more Additionally, the duration of tick engorgement on mice and the passage of experimentally-inoculated fluorescent dextran molecules across the PM are affected by the knock down of PM_CBP expression. The transfer of anti-PM_CBP antibodies into the tick gut impacted the overall composition of the resident microbiome, and also influenced B. burgdorferi acquisition in ticks and its transmission to mice. Taken together, these data highlight the biological significance of the Ixodes PM and suggest that the targeting of its molecular constituents may contribute to the development of novel interventions against tick-borne infections.Ovarian ectopic is a rare form of ectopic pregnancy and reaching up to term is an extreme rarity. It is usually diagnosed incidentally when a cesarean section is done for other obstetric causes. Being highly vascular, it may result in obstetric catastrophes. We report first live post-term ovarian pregnancy well managed with multidisciplinary approach. A 35-year multigravida at 44 weeks presented with a diagnosis of placenta percreta. Magnetic resonance imaging suggested abdominal pregnancy with a live fetus. On laparotomy, it was live ovarian ectopic with placenta attached to left infundibulopelvic vessels and later confirmed on histological examination. Ovarian ectopic is best diagnosed in the first trimester by ultrasound and managed by laparoscopy or laparotomy. It is usually misdiagnosed as an abdominal pregnancy at term even with the use of high-end technology. It always poses a dilemma for clinicians. Preoperative magnetic resonance imaging helps in the planning of surgery with all precautionary measures and counseling of patients.Bimetallic phosphate electrocatalysts on carbon-cloth support are among the most promising industry-relevant solutions for electrocatalytic hydrogen production. To address the persistent issue of hetero-phase interfacing on carbon support while ensuring high activity and stability, a low-cost, high-performance hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) electrocatalyst is developed. Bi-phase Ni12 P5 -Ni4 Nb5 P4 nanocrystals with rich heterointerfaces and phase edges are successfully fabricated on carbon cloth (CC), which is enabled by intentional defect creation by atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma (PCC). The obtained Ni12 P5 -Ni4 Nb5 P4 /PCC electrocatalyst exhibits excellent HER performance, heralded by the low overpotentials of 81 and 287 mV for delivering current densities of 10 (j10 ) and 500 (j500 ) mA cm-2 , respectively. Meanwhile, the Ni12 P5 -Ni4 Nb5 P4 /PCC maintains spectacular catalytic activity at high current density region (>j615 ), which outperformed the industry-relevant benchmark Pt/C/PCC catalyst. The catalyst grown on the plasma-treated support shows remarkably longer operation and ultra-stable electrocatalytic characteristics over 100 h continuous operation. Ab initio numerical simulations reveal that Ni atoms exposed in the heterointerfaces act as the main catalytically active centers for HER.Copy-out/paste-in transposition is a major bacterial DNA mobility pathway. It contributes significantly to the emergence of antibiotic resistance, often by upregulating expression of downstream genes upon integration. Unlike other transposition pathways, it requires both asymmetric and symmetric strand transfer steps. Here, we report the first structural study of a copy-out/paste-in transposase and demonstrate its ability to catalyze all pathway steps in vitro. X-ray structures of ISCth4 transposase, a member of the IS256 family of insertion sequences, bound to DNA substrates corresponding to three sequential steps in the reaction reveal an unusual asymmetric dimeric transpososome. During transposition, an array of N-terminal domains binds a single transposon end while the catalytic domain moves to accommodate the varying substrates. These conformational changes control the path of DNA flanking the transposon end and the generation of DNA-binding sites. Our results explain the asymmetric outcome of the initial strand transfer and show how DNA binding is modulated by the asymmetric transposase to allow the capture of a second transposon end and to integrate a circular intermediate.

Transoral endoscopic vestibular approach (TOEVA) for thyroidectomy (TOETVA) and parathyroidectomy (TOEPVA) is gaining popularity, yet knowledge is based on a limited number of studies, mostly performed by surgeons experienced in laparoscopic\robotic surgery.

All patients who underwent TOEVA at our institution between February 2018 and October 2019 were followed prospectively. Main outcomes were ability to accomplish surgery endoscopically (failure defined as conversion to open approach) and complications.

Seventy-one patients (52 TOETVA and 19 TOEPVA) were included. 98% (51/52) and 100% (19/19) of TOETVA and TOEPVA surgeries were accomplished endoscopically, respectively. Transient vocal cord and mental nerve injuries rates were 8.4% (6/71) and 2.8% (2/71), respectively. Thyroid carcinoma was diagnosed in 27 patients (51.9%), all completely excised with clean margins.

Adoption of the TOEVA suggested framework by head and neck surgeons without prior experience in laparoscopic/robotic techniques is feasible resulting in nearly 100% of surgeries accomplished endoscopically.
