This study aims to examine the impact of heavy use of tablets on preschoolers' executive function during the Dimensional Change Card Sort (DCCS) task using the functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). Altogether, 38 Chinese preschoolers (Mage = 5.0 years, SD = 0.69 years, 17 girls) completed the tasks before the COVID-19 lockdown. Eight children never used tablets, while 16 children were diagnosed as the 'heavy-user'. The results indicated that (1) the 'non-user' outperformed the 'heavy-user' with a significantly higher correct rate in the DCCS task; (2) the two groups differed significantly in the activation of the prefrontal cortex (BA 9) the 'non-user' pattern is normal and healthy, whereas the 'heavy-user' pattern is not normal and needs further exploration.Zinc, copper, and manganese are prominent essential trace (or micro) minerals, being required in small, but adequate, amounts by pigs and poultry for normal biological functioning. Feed is a source of trace minerals for pigs and poultry but variable bioavailability in typical feed ingredients means that supplementation with low-cost oxides and sulphates has become common practice. Such trace mineral supplementation often provides significant 'safety margins', while copper and zinc have been supplemented at supra-nutritional (or pharmacological) levels to improve health and/or growth performance. Regulatory mechanisms ensure that much of this oversupply is excreted by the host into the environment, which can be toxic to plants and microorganisms or promote antimicrobial resistance in microbes, and thus supplying trace minerals more precisely to pigs and poultry is necessary. The gastrointestinal tract is thus central to the maintenance of trace mineral homeostasis and the provision of supra-nutritional or pharmacological levels is associated with modification of the gut environment, such as the microbiome. This review, therefore, considers recent advances in understanding the influence of zinc, copper, and manganese on the gastrointestinal environment of pigs and poultry, including more novel, alternative sources seeking to maintain supra-nutritional benefits with minimal environmental impact. This investigation aimed to compare the international level peak intensity period of male field hockey players to those experienced during professional and amateur club hockey match play. U0126 mw Twenty-seven players from an international squad were monitored for all activity relating to field hockey over three seasons. The peak intensity period, of 3 min duration, was extracted from match play files for international and club matches. Club matches were categorised by league standard-professional vs. amateur. The output for the peak intensity period, within positions, was compared using linear mixed models (LMMs) and post hoc pairwise comparisons. Significance levels were set as p less then 0.05 and Cohen's d was utilised for effect sizes. Competition level had a main effect on relative total distance (p less then 0.05) and significant interaction effects were found between competition level and position (p less then 0.05). Midfielders competing in amateur leagues and international match play completed less relative total distance than those who compete in professional leagues (-47.88 m/min, p less then 0.05), (-46.06 m/min, p less then 0.05) with large effect sizes reported. No other position displayed significant differences for peak periods. Match play in professional leagues provide opportunities for midfielders to experience peak intensity periods of a greater magnitude than international match play.Apurinic/apyrimidinic endodeoxyribonuclease 1 (APEX1) is involved in the DNA damage repair pathways and associates with the metastasis of several human cancers. However, the signaling pathway of APEX1 in cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) has never been reported. In this study, to predict the signaling pathways of APEX1 and related proteins and their functions, the effects of APEX1 gene silencing on APEX1 and related protein expression in CCA cell lines were investigated using mass spectrometry and bioinformatics tools. Bioinformatic analyses predicted that APEX1 might interact with cell division cycle 42 (CDC42) and son of sevenless homolog 1 (SOS1), which are involved in tumor metastasis. RNA and protein expression levels of APEX1 and its related proteins, retrieved from the Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA) and the Human Protein Atlas databases, revealed that their expressions were higher in CCA than in the normal group. Moreover, higher levels of APEX1 expression and its related proteins were correlated with shorter survival time. In conclusion, the signaling pathway of APEX1 in metastasis might be mediated via CDC42 and SOS1. Furthermore, expression of APEX1 and related proteins is able to predict poor survival of CCA patients. In this work, we investigate the TD-DFT simulation, optical, and mirrorless laser properties of conjugated polymer (CP) Poly[(9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl)-co-(1,4-diphenylene-vinylene-2-methoxy-5-2-ethylhexyloxy-benzene)], also known as (PFO-co-PPV-MEHB) or ADS125GE. TD-DFT calculations were performed for three monomer units with truncated tails using time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) calculations. The calculations showed a highest occupied and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO-LUMO) structure and a very high oscillator strength of 6.434 for the singlet-singlet transition at 374.43 nm. Experimentally, the absorption and fluorescence spectra were examined at various concentrations in verity of solvents, such as benzene, toluene, and hexane. The experimental results obtained in hexane were comparable with theoretical UV-VIS spectra calculated under vacuum. Amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) spectra peaked at approximately 509 nm for CO PFO-co-PPV-MEHB in solution and were obtained at suitable concentrations and pump energies. Additionally, the photochemical stability of this CP and coumarin (C510) were compared. Time-resolved spectroscopy (TRS) studies with a sub-nanosecond resolution were performed for the CO under various pump energies. These results showed the excited state dynamics and single-pass optical gain of CO PFO-co-PPV-MEHB.
