Results Of 174 serum proteins identified, complement component C7 (C7), apolipoprotein F (ApoF) and galectin-3-Binding Protein (LGALS3BP) significantly differed between HPV-positive and -negative tumors (AUC ranging from 0.84-0.87). ApoF levels were more than twice as high in the E6/E7 mRNA HPV-positive group than HPV-negative. Conclusions Serum C7, ApoF and LGALS3BP levels discriminate between HPV-positive and HPV-negative OPSCC. Further studies are needed to validate these host immunity-related proteins as markers for HPV-associated OPSCC.Background There is limited evidence of non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) in patients aged 80 or older in Vietnam. Aim To describe the clinical characteristics of patients aged≥80 with NSTE-ACS in Vietnam, and to examine the effect of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on adverse outcomes. Methods Consecutive patients aged ≥80 with a diagnosis of NSTE-ACS admitted to two tertiary hospitals in Vietnam from 12/2018 to 06/2019 were recruited. The major outcomes were (1) the composite of all-cause mortality, recurrent myocardial infarction and stroke, (2) re-admission rate during 3 months. Cox proportional-hazards regressions were conducted to examine the impact of PCI on the study outcomes, with results presented as hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). GF120918 order Results There were 120 participants, mean age 84.8 ± 3.8, 50% were female. Angiography and PCI were performed in 42 participants (35.0%). Most of the participants had multimorbidity and multiple coronary vessel disease. Compared to participants who did not receive PCI, participants who received PCI had significantly lower rates of adverse events during hospitalisation and during 3 months of follow up. Cox proportional hazards models adjusted to age and GRACE score show that PCI was significantly associated with reduced the composite outcome of all-cause mortality, recurrent myocardial infarction and stroke during 3 months follow-up (adjusted HR 0.32, 95%CI 0.12-0.86). PCI was also associated with reduced re-admission. link2 Conclusions The rate of PCI was low in the very elderly patients with NSTE-ACS in this study, although PCI was significantly associated with reduced adverse outcomes.EBV transforms B cells in vitro and causes human B-cell lymphomas including classical Hodgkin lymphoma (CHL), Burkitt lymphoma (BL) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The EBV latency protein, EBNA2, transcriptionally activates the promoters of all latent viral protein-coding genes expressed in type III EBV latency and is essential for EBV's ability to transform B cells in vitro. However, EBNA2 is not expressed in EBV-infected CHLs and BLs in humans. EBV-positive CHLs have type II latency and are largely driven by the EBV LMP1/LMP2A proteins, while EBV-positive BLs, which usually have type I latency are largely driven by c-Myc translocations, and only express the EBNA1 protein and viral non-coding RNAs. Approximately 15% of human BLs contain naturally occurring EBNA2-deleted viruses that support a form of viral latency known as Wp-restricted (expressing the EBNA-LP, EBNA3A/3B/3C, EBNA1 and BHRF1 proteins), but whether Wp-restricted latency and/or EBNA2-deleted EBV can induce lymphomas in humanized mice, or in the absence of c-Myc translocations, is unknown. Here we show that a naturally occurring EBNA2-deleted EBV strain (P3HR1) isolated from a human BL induces EBV-positive B-cell lymphomas in a subset of infected cord blood-humanized (CBH) mice. Furthermore, we find that P3HR1-infected lymphoma cells support two different viral latency types and phenotypes that are mutually exclusive 1) Large (often multinucleated), CD30-positive, CD45-negative cells reminiscent of the Reed-Sternberg (RS) cells in CHL that express high levels of LMP1 but not EBNA-LP (consistent with type II viral latency); and 2) smaller monomorphic CD30-negative DLBCL-like cells that express EBNA-LP and EBNA3A but not LMP1 (consistent with Wp-restricted latency). These results reveal that EBNA2 is not absolutely required for EBV to form tumors in CBH mice and suggest that P3HR1 virus can be used to model EBV positive lymphomas with both Wp-restricted and type II latency in vivo. Objectives Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) has seen increasing use as a prostate cancer treatment in recent years and has proven medically effective in numerous contexts. link3 The treatment, however, is associated with a host of side effects including depression. Managing the psychological wellbeing of prostate cancer patients is important for maximizing their survival outcomes. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate depressive symptomatology in patients with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) compared with that in patients who underwent prostatectomy and to explore the factors that affect depressive symptoms, which might occur during ADT. Methods One hundred and seven patients undergoing ADT (ADT group) and prostatectomy (Operation group) were enrolled. Adjustments were made for differences in characteristics between groups using a propensity score model with stabilized weights before treatment. Depressive symptoms between groups were compared using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) before treatment and six monttestosterone levels or increased BMI during ADT.Introduction A growing body of evidence has demonstrated the importance of mentalization for adolescents' psychosocial functioning; however, further research is needed to understand links between mentalization and other socio-cognitive factors. The aim of this quantitative, cross-sectional study was to investigate the relationship between a teen's capacity to mentalize and three attachment-related factors parent-teen trust, parent-teen communication, and parent-teen alienation. Methods In an online survey, 82 (mainly) Australian adolescents (57 female; 23 male; 2 non-binary; mean age 17.09 years) completed i) The Children's Eyes Test, which measured mentalization; and ii) The Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment-45, which measured trust, communication quality, and alienation. Results In teens' relationships with both mothers and fathers, trust and communication quality were significantly positively correlated (p = .001) when controlling for age and gender. Both were significantly negatively correlated with alienation (p = .001) with control variables included. Capacity to mentalize did not correlate with trust, communication quality, or alienation in relationships with either mothers or fathers (p ≤ .05). Conclusions Possible reasons are proposed for why no relationship was found between mentalization and trust, communication quality, or alienation. Implications for future research are discussed. Background Elevated neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is linked to poor overall survival (OS) in pancreatic cancer. We aim to investigate the association of the various hematologic markers, in particular NLR among others, with distant metastases, a common feature in pancreatic cancer. Methods Clinical data from 355 pancreatic cancer patients managed at King Hussein Cancer Center (Amman-Jordan) have been reviewed. We examined the relationship between absolute neutrophil count (ANC), absolute lymphocyte count (ALC), absolute eosinophilic count (AEC), absolute monocytic count (AMC), NLR, monocyte to lymphocyte ratio (MLR) and platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) with the presence of baseline distant metastases and OS. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was plotted to identify the NLR optimum cutoff value indicative of its association with distant metastases. Results On univariate and multivariate analyses patients whom on presentation had high NLR (≥3.3) showed more baseline distant metastases compared to patients with low NLR ( less then 3.3), (p-value less then 0.0001 and less then 0.0001, respectively). Patients with high baseline ANC (≥5500/μL), AMC (≥600/μL), MLR (≥0.3) had more baseline distant metastases in comparison to patients with lower values (p-value 0.02, 0.001, and less then 0.0001, respectively). High ANC, NLR, MLR, and PLR and low ALC were associated with poorer OS, (p-value less then 0.0001, less then 0.0001, less then 0.0001, 0.04, and 0.01, respectively). Conclusion This study presents additional evidence of the association of some of the hematologic markers; in particular ANC, NLR, AMC, and MLR, with baseline distant metastases and poor outcome in pancreatic cancer. Whether these immune phenomena can help in identifying patients at higher risk for the subsequent development of distant metastases is unknown. The continual loss of threatened biodiversity is occurring at an accelerated pace. High-throughput sequencing technologies are now providing opportunities to address this issue by aiding in the generation of molecular data for many understudied species of high conservation interest. Our overall goal of this study was to begin building the genomic resources to continue investigations and conservation of the Spot-Tailed Earless lizard. Here we leverage the power of high-throughput sequencing to generate the liver transcriptome for the Northern Spot-Tailed Earless Lizard (Holbrookia lacerata) and Southern Spot-Tailed Earless Lizard (Holbrookia subcaudalis), which have declined in abundance in the past decades, and their sister species, the Common Lesser Earless Lizard (Holbrookia maculata). Our efforts produced high quality and robust transcriptome assemblies validated by 1) quantifying the number of processed reads represented in the transcriptome assembly and 2) quantifying the number of highly conserved single-copy orthologs that are present in our transcript set using the BUSCO pipeline. We found 1,361 1-to-1 orthologs among the three Holbrookia species, Anolis carolinensis, and Sceloporus undulatus. We carried out dN/dS selection tests using a branch-sites model and identified a dozen genes that experienced positive selection in the Holbrookia lineage with functions in development, immunity, and metabolism. Our single-copy orthologous sequences additionally revealed significant pairwise sequence divergence (~.73%) between the Northern H. lacerata and Southern H. subcaudalis that further supports the recent elevation of the Southern Spot-Tailed Earless Lizard to full species. Background Although global longitudinal strain (GLS) measurements provide useful predictive information, measurement variability is still a major concern. We sought to determine whether fully automated GLS measurements could predict future cardiac events in patients with known or suspected heart failure (HF). Methods GLS was measured using fully automated 2D speckle tracking analysis software (AutoStrain, TomTec) in 3,150 subjects who had undergone clinically indicated brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) assays and echocardiographic examinations. Among 1,514 patients in the derivation cohort, optimal cut-off values of BNP and GLS for cardiac death (CD) and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) were determined using survival classification and regression tree (CART) analysis. The remaining 1,636 patients, comprising the validation cohort, were stratified into subgroups according to predefined cut-off values, and survival curves were compared. Results Survival CART analysis selected GLS with cut-off values of 6.
