We aim to describe the parasitic population in vicuñas from three Andean communities and its relationship with fiber quality using 115 fecal and 22 fiber samples, classified according to sex, age, body condition score, and management system. Pitavastatin Coproparasitologic diagnostic revealed that 84.4% of animals presented at least one type of parasite egg/oocyst. Most frequent parasite egg/oocyst were Strongyle-type eggs (54.8%) and Eimeria punoensis (38.3%). Wild vicuñas had a higher prevalence of Strongyle-type eggs (91.4%) than semi-captive (38.8%) animals, and age was significative to Eimeria infection; crias had the highest frequency (100%) when compared to yearlings (84.2%) and adults (49.4%). Larvae identification revealed a strong influence of domestic animals on vicuña parasite community, presenting the first report of Bunostomum phlebotomum and Gaigeria pachyscelis in vicuñas from southeastern Peru. Females had a significantly finer diameter of fiber (13.05 ± 0.73 μm) than males (14.22 ± 1.22 μm), and infection with Eimeria spp. affected negatively fiber diameter and resistance. Our results provide data for disease surveillance and encourage further parasitological studies in vicuñas.
In women undergoing breast-conserving surgery (BCS), 20-25% require a re-operation as a result of incomplete tumour resection. An intra-operative technique to assess tumour margins accurately would be a major advantage. A novel method for intraoperative margin assessment was developed by applying a thin flexible scintillating film to specimens-flexible autoradiography (FAR) imaging. A single-arm, multi-centre study was conducted to evaluate the feasibility of intraoperative [
F]FDG FAR for the assessment of tumour margins in BCS.
Eighty-eight patients with invasive breast cancer undergoing BCS received ≤ 300MBq of [
F]FDG 60-180min pre-operatively. Following surgical excision, intraoperative FAR imaging was performed using the LightPath
Imaging System. The first 16 patients were familiarisation patients; the remaining 72 patients were entered into the main study. FAR images were analysed post-operatively by three independent readers. Areas of increased signal intensity were marked, mean normalised rad method for scintillator positioning and/or the use of targeted radiopharmaceuticals.

URL http//www.isrctn.com/ISRCTN17778965 .This study examined the natural and experimental host range and aphid and graft transmission of the tentative polerovirus phasey bean mild yellows virus (PBMYV). Eleven complete coding sequences from PBMYV isolates were determined from a range of hosts and locations. We found two genetically distinct variants of PBMYV. PBMYV-1 was the originally described variant, and PBMYV-2 had a large putative recombination in open reading frame 5 such that PBMYV-1 and PBMYV-2 shared only 65-66% amino acid sequence identity in the P5 protein. The virus was transmitted by a clonal colony of cowpea aphids (Aphis craccivora) and by grafting with infected scions but was not transmitted by a clonal colony of green peach aphids (Myzus persicae). PBMYV was found in natural infections in 11 host species with a range of symptoms and severity, including seven important grain legume crops from across a wide geographic area in Australia. PBMYV was common and widespread in the tropical weed phasey bean (Macroptilium lathyroides), but it is likely that there are other major alternative hosts for the virus in temperate regions of Australia. The experimental host range of PBMYV included the Fabaceae hosts chickpea (Cicer arietinum), faba bean (Vicia faba), pea (Pisum sativum), and phasey bean, but transmissions failed to infect several other members of the families Asteraceae, Cucurbitaceae, Fabaceae and Solanaceae. PBMYV was commonly found in grain legume crops in eastern and western Australia, sometimes at greater than 90% incidence. This new knowledge about PBMYV warrants further assessments of its economic impact on important grain legume crops.
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) and stroke have devastating consequences and are major global public health issues. For patients that require a cerebral decompression after suffering a TBI or stroke, a decompressive craniectomy (DC) is the most commonly performed operation. However, retrospective non-randomized studies suggest that a decompressive craniotomy (DCO; also known as hinge or floating craniotomy), where a bone flap is replaced but not rigidly fixed, has comparable outcomes to DC. The primary aim of this project was to understand the current extent of usage of DC and DCO for TBI and stroke worldwide.
A questionnaire was designed and disseminated globally via emailing lists and social media to practicing neurosurgeons between June and November 2019.
We received 208 responses from 60 countries [40 low- and middle-income countries (LMICs)]. DC is used more frequently than DCO, however, about one-quarter of respondents are using a DCO in more than 25% of their patients. The three top indications for a DCO were an acute subdural hematoma (ASDH) and a GCS of 9-12, ASDH with contusions and a GCS of 3-8, and ASDH with contusions and a GCS of 9-12. There were 8 DCO techniques used with the majority (60/125) loosely tying sutures to the bone flap. The majority (82%) stated that they were interested in collaborating on a randomized trial of DCO vs. DC.
Our results show that DCO is a procedure carried out for TBI and stroke, especially in LMICs, and most commonly for an ASDH. The majority of the respondents were interested in collaborating on a is a future randomized trial.

There are limited data discussing long-term pain relief and comparability of different image-guided sacroiliac joint (SIJ) injection. This study compared CT and fluoroscopic-guided SIJ injections regarding statistically and clinically significant differences in numeric pain reduction, radiation doses, and patient's satisfaction.
A prospective study conducted on 52 patients who met specific inclusion criteria of SIJ pain. A mixture of 1ml of 40mg methylprednisolone acetate diluted in 2ml of lidocaine 2% was injected under either CT or fluoroscopic guidance. link3 Numeric rating score (NRS) and Oswestry disability index (ODI) were assessed and recorded for each patient before procedure and one-week, and one-, three-, six-, and 12-months after procedure. The results were compared between both groups.
Analysis of NRS one-month post-procedure showed a significant decrease from baseline in both groups 12.5% in CT group (p = 0.002) and 9.5% in fluoroscopic group (p = 0.006). No significant difference in NRS between two groups at one- and three-months post-procedure (p = 0.11 and 0.1, respectively). There was a significant difference in NRS between two groups at six- and 12-months post-procedure (p = 0.001 and < 0.0001, respectively). Comparison of ODI at six-month post-procedure revealed that both groups had a statistically significant improvement (p < 0.0001). There was a significant difference in ODI between two groups at six-months post-procedure (p = 0.01).
CT-guided SIJ injection compares favorably with fluoroscopic guidance and offers statistically and clinically significant long-term pain relief. The use of dose reduction protocol in CT is important for decreasing the radiation dose.

Patient informed consent is particularly important and should include potential irreversibility, surgical options, anesthesia, possible complications as well as postoperative behavior and the need for re-evaluation. There are different access routes available with conventional and no-scalpel vasectomy as well as different techniques for closing the ends of the vas deferens. To confirm sterility the European Association of Urology (EAU) recommends that an ejaculate analysis should be performed 3 months after the procedure and after approximately 20 ejaculations. Complications are relatively rare, although particularly vasectomy failure due to recanalization has to be considered. Approximately 3-6% of vasectomized men strive for a refertilization, which with experienced surgeons is successful in about 90% of cases.
For patients with severe chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) which cannot be controlled by continuous therapy with intranasal corticosteroids (INCS) and systemic corticosteroids and/or surgical treatment, there were no approved curative options for a long time. For CRSwNP treatment with T2-addressing biologics is possible. On October 24, 2019, the European Commission granted extended approval for dupilumab as the first biological agent for treatment of insufficiently controlled severe CRSwNP. The Federal Joint Committee (G‑BA) evaluates the benefits of reimbursable drugs with new active ingredients. This includes assessment of the additional benefit and its therapeutic relevance.
A meta-analysis was performed using individual patient data based on two phase III studies. Both studies examined the safety and efficacy of dupilumab as an add-on therapy to INCS for treatment of CRSwNP in adults inadequately controlled with systemic corticosteroids and/or surgery compared to INCS alone.
Based on the present data, the G‑BA decided that there is an indication of a considerable additional benefit of dupilumab compared to mometasone furoate.

Odontoid process fractures can extend rostral into the C2 arch. We investigated the clinical impact of a concurrent fracture of the pars interarticularis on odontoid failure. To overcome the surgical challenges related to the morphology of these fractures, we describe a novel surgical strategy using atlantoaxial joint distraction arthrodesis.
We conducted a single centre cohort study of 13 consecutive patients with odontoid fractures extending into the pars treated between June 2016 and June 2018. Criteria for a stable fibrous non-union were Atlanto-Dens Interval (ADI) < 3mm, Posterior Atlanto-Dens Interval (PADI) > 14mm and lack of symptomatic motion at the fracture site. Atlantoaxial instability was defined as greater than 50% subluxation across the C1-C2 joint. Return to pre-injury performance status was considered a satisfactory clinical outcome.
The mean age of the patient population was 77.2years (SD 11.9). The mean follow-up time was 15months (SD 5.2). 69% had an associated atlantoaxial instability (P-value 0.
