Macrominerals in fresh wool did not respond to increased dietary supplementation. Se and Zn content of wool had a strong relationship with the daily intake (R2 = 0.95 and R2 = 0.97, respectively.) In conclusion, the mineral content of long fleeces can be different compared to recently developed wool fiber. This indicates that, in some cases, analyzing long staples for mineral status can be misleading. Our results showed that wool could be a sensitive indicator of low selenium and high zinc intake. Mineral interactions can significantly affect the actual availability of trace minerals; therefore, a more careful design of premixes is needed. The described method seems to be applicable in livestock farming, but the mineral interactions that may alter the results need to be further explored.A novel electroporation system was developed to introduce transient membrane pores to cells in a spatially and temporally controlled manner, allowing us to achieve fast electrotransfection and live cell staining as well as to systematically interrogate the dynamics of the cell membrane. Specifically, using this platform, we showed that both reversible and irreversible electroporation could be induced in the cell population, with nano-sized membrane pores in the former case being able to self-reseal in ~10 min. In addition, green fluorescent protein(GFP)-vinculin plasmid and 543 phalloidin have been delivered successively into fibroblast cells, which enables us to monitor the distinct roles of vinculin and F-actin in cell adhesion and migration as well as their possible interplay during these processes. Compared to conventional bulk electroporation and staining methods, the new system offers advantages such as low-voltage operation, cellular level manipulation and testing, fast and adjustable transfection/staining and real-time monitoring; the new system therefore could be useful in different biophysical studies in the future.Drought negatively affects the growth and yield of terrestrial crops. Seed priming, pre-exposing seed to a compound, could induce improved tolerance and adaptation to stress in germinated plants. To understand the effects and regulatory mechanism of seed priming with brassinosteroid (BR) on peanut plants, we treated seeds with five BR concentrations and examined dozens of physiological and biochemical features, and transcriptomic changes in leaves under well-watered and drought conditions. We found optimal 0.15 ppm BR priming could reduce inhibitions from drought and increase the yield of peanut, and priming effects are dependent on stage of plant development and duration of drought. BR priming induced fewer differentially expressed genes (DEGs) than no BR priming under well-watered condition. Drought with BR priming reduced the number of DEGs than drought only. These DEGs were enriched in varied gene ontologies and metabolism pathways. Downregulation of DEGs involved in both light perceiving and photosynthesis in leaves is consistent with low parameters of photosynthesis. Sumatriptan cell line Optimal BR priming partially rescued the levels of growth promoting auxin and gibberellin which were largely reduced by drought, and increased levels of defense associated abscisic acid and salicylic acid after long-term drought. BR priming induced many DEGs which function as kinase or transcription factor for signal cascade under drought. We proposed BR priming-induced regulatory responses will be memorized and recalled for fast adaptation in later drought stress. These results provide physiological and regulatory bases of effects of seed priming with BR, which can help to guide the framing improvement under drought stress. While the management of pregnant patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) has improved over the last decades, the risk of maternal, foetal, and neonatal complications is still substantial. We evaluated the occurrence of adverse pregnancy outcomes (APO) occurring in 2002-2018 among patients with SLE from the catchment area of the Department of Rheumatology in Lund, Sweden. Longitudinal clinical and laboratory data were collected and analysed. Results were stratified according to the sequence of conception. We investigated a total of 59 pregnancies in 28 patients. Prior lupus nephritis was the clinical feature that, in a multivariable regression analysis, displayed the strongest association with APO overall (OR 6.0, p = 0.02). SLE combined with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) was associated with the risk of miscarriage (OR 3.3, p = 0.04). The positivity of multiple antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) was associated with APO overall (OR 3.3, p = 0.05). IgG anti-cardiolipin during pregnancy resulted in a higher risk of preterm delivery (OR 6.8, p = 0.03). Hypocomplementaemia was associated with several APO, but only in the first pregnancies. We conclude that, despite the close follow-up provided, a majority of pregnancies resulted in ≥1 APO, but a few of them were severe. Our study confirms the importance of previous lupus nephritis as a main risk factor for APO in patients with SLE.Mucinous carcinoma of the retroperitoneal origin is extremely rare. The existence of mural nodules in association with retroperitoneal mucinous carcinoma is an even rarer condition and indicates a worse prognosis. We present a case of primary retroperitoneal mucinous carcinoma with carcinosarcomatous mural nodules in a 27-year-old woman. We found a histological spectrum of mucinous tumors encompassing a mucinous borderline tumor, microinvasive carcinoma, and overt carcinoma with an expansile invasive pattern. The mural nodules had two morphological components. The sarcomatous component consisted of diffusely proliferating pleomorphic spindle or polygonal cells, while the carcinomatous component exhibited infiltrative glands showing a complex and cribriform architecture as well as distorted and poorly formed small glands. The carcinomatous component, comprising approximately 20% of the entire tumor volume of the mural nodules, was randomly distributed within the sarcomatous component. In a few areas, the carcie of mural nodules and determining their nature, to be later utilized to predict patients' outcomes and provide appropriate treatment.
