The biomass ratio of herbivores to primary producers reflects the structure of a community. Four primary factors have been proposed to affect this ratio, including production rate, defense traits and nutrient contents of producers, and predation by carnivores. However, identifying the joint effects of these factors across natural communities has been elusive, in part because of the lack of a framework for examining their effects simultaneously. Here, we develop a framework based on Lotka-Volterra equations for examining the effects of these factors on the biomass ratio. We then utilize it to test if these factors simultaneously affect the biomass ratio of freshwater plankton communities. We found that all four factors contributed significantly to the biomass ratio, with carnivore abundance having the greatest effect, followed by producer stoichiometric nutrient content. Thus, the present framework should be useful for examining the multiple factors shaping various types of communities, both aquatic and terrestrial.When measuring sparseness in neural populations as an indicator of efficient coding, an implicit assumption is that each stimulus activates a different random set of neurons. In other words, population responses to different stimuli are, on average, uncorrelated. Here we examine neurophysiological data from four lobes of macaque monkey cortex, including V1, V2, MT, anterior inferotemporal cortex, lateral intraparietal cortex, the frontal eye fields, and perirhinal cortex, to determine how correlated population responses are. We call the mean correlation the pseudosparseness index, because high pseudosparseness can mimic statistical properties of sparseness without being authentically sparse. In every data set we find high levels of pseudosparseness ranging from 0.59-0.98, substantially greater than the value of 0.00 for authentic sparseness. This was true for synthetic and natural stimuli, as well as for single-electrode and multielectrode data. A model indicates that a key variable producing high pseudosparseness is the standard deviation of spontaneous activity across the population. In particular, we showed that, in the investigated area, industrial emissions and winds blowing from the inlands combine with an airborne microbiome which include faecal microbiomes components, suggesting multiple citizens' exposure to both chemicals and microorganisms of faecal origin, as related to landscape exploitation and population density. Unstimulated and stimulated whole-mouth saliva samples (UWS and SWS) were collected before ASCT, 1×/wk during the hospitalisation phase, and 3 and 12 months post-ASCT. During the hospitalisation period OM was scored 3×/wk (WHO system). Flow rate, pH, total protein concentration (Nanodrop), albumin, lactoferrin, neutrophil defensin-1 (HNP1), total IgA and S100A8/A9 (ELISA) were determined. Mixed models were used to evaluate differences between ulcerative (u)OM (≥2 WHO, n = 20) and non-uOM (n = 31) groups. Until 18 days after ASCT, flow rate, pH, total IgA and HNP1 levels decreased in UWS and/or SWS, while log lactoferrin levels were significantly increased (UWS p = 0.016 95% CI [0.36, 3.58], SWS p  less then  0.001 95% CI [1.14, 3.29]). We analyzed relapse-free survival (RFS) in 92 allo-HCT patients who received TKI for >3 months after allo-HCT, and aimed to develop a novel indicator, called as current TKI- & relapse-free (cTRFree) achievement. TKI after allo-HCT was started as planned in 39 patients, based on measurable residual disease (MRD) in 53 at a median of 152 days after allo-HCT. There was no difference in post-TKI RFS between the planned and MRD-based starting groups (P = 0.69). Second-generation TKIs were associated with superior RFS in Ph-positive acute leukemia (HR 2.71, P = 0.031). The 1-year overall survival, RRM and NRM rates were 60.5%, 13.5% and 22.7% respectively. A KPS score  less then  80, pre-transplant infection and hypertension and non-complete remission disease status adversely effected all-cause mortality. For NRM, increasing age, pre-transplant infection and diabetes, and poor access to care were associated with higher mortality whereas haploidentical donor type was associated with improved survival. For RRM, a KPS score  less then 80, high/very high disease risk index and the presence of comorbidities were risk factors for higher mortality.
