Here, we show that StauC is essential for the high RNAi efficiency observed in coleopterans. The dsRNA insensitivity induced by StauC knockdown could not be overcome merely by an increase in dose or time of exposure to dsRNA or expression of Loquacious or R2D2. Age was positively associated with reporting an impairment, while there was a negative association with education and with parity. Of women who reported an impairment, 85.5% sought help. Visiting a hospital or clinic was the most common response, followed closely by going to a traditional healer. Around one-quarter employed multiple help-seeking strategies, highlighting the need for various help-seeking behaviours to be viewed in tandem rather than in isolation.

This study considers an ultrasound applicator consisting of two tubular transducers situated at the end of a catheter assembly, encased within a distensible conical shaped balloon-based reflector that redirects acoustic energy distally into the tissue. The applicator assembly can be inserted endoluminally or laparoscopically in a compact form and expanded after delivery to the target site. Comprehensive acoustic and biothermal simulations and parametric studies were employed in generalized 3D and patient-specific pancreatic head and body tumor models to characterize the acoustic performance and evaluate heating capabilities of the applicator by investigating the device at a range of operating frequencies, tissue acoustic and thermal properties, transducer configurations, power modulation, applicator positioning, and byering volumetric hyperthermia in regions adjacent to body lumens and cavities.

We aimed to evaluate joint mechanics in newborn by goniometric assessment of major joints in healthy babies born at different gestational ages (GAs).

An institution based observational study was carried out on healthy newborn babies within two days of birth. Study subjects were born at 28-41 completed weeks of gestation. The major joints of upper and lower limbs were assessed with manual goniometer for joint angles in relation to specific passive movements and range of motion (ROM) calculated where applicable. All measurements were made by a single observer with careful consideration of plane of movement and axes involved. Strength of association between joint angles and GA was quantified by Pearson's

However, the mechanisms underlying this association are unclear. We examined the association between physical activity and COVID-19 hospitalisation and whether this relationship was explained by risk factors (chronic conditions, weak muscle strength). We used data from adults over 50 years from the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe. The outcome was self-reported hospitalisation due to COVID-19, before August 2020. The main exposure was physical activity, self-reported between 2004 and 2017. Among the 3139 participants included (69.3 ± 8.5 years, 1763 women), 266 were tested positive for COVID-19, 66 were hospitalised. Logistic regression models showed that individuals who engaged in physical activity more than once a week had lower odds of COVID-19 hospitalisation than individuals who hardly ever or never engaged in physical activity (odds ratios = 0.41, 95% confidence interval = 0.22-0.74, p = .004). This association between physical activity and COVID-19 hospitalisation was explained by muscle strength, but not by other risk factors. These findings suggest that, after 50 years, engaging in physical activity is associated with lower odds of COVID-19 hospitalisation. This protective effect of physical activity may be explained by muscle strength.

The use of virtual reality (VR) technology has been suggested as a method to increase ecological validity in neuropsychological assessments. Although validity has been a focus in VR research, little attention has been paid to other psychometric properties such as test-retest reliability and practice effects. Practice effects are common on traditional neuropsychological tests and can be impacted by novelty. Because VR is not widely used it was expected that participants would demonstrate higher practice effects on VR as compared to paper-and-pencil testing.

To compare test-retest reliability and practice effects in VR and traditional paper-and-pencil testing, the Virtual Environment Grocery Store (VEGS) and California Verbal Learning Test - Second Edition (CVLT-II) were used in healthy adults (n=44). Participants received follow-up testing approximately 2weeks after the initial visit.

Significant practice effects of similar magnitude were seen on memory scores (i.e., total learning, long-delay free recall, and long-delay cued recall) on the VEGS and the CVLT-II. The VEGS and CVLT-II memory scores also demonstrated strong test-retest reliability (

's > .71). Lastly, total learning scores (

=.32) and long-delay cued recall (

=.70) scores were significantly higher on the CVLT-II compared to the VEGS (

Results suggested similar test-retest reliability and practice effects of the VEGS and CVLT-II, although the VEGS has the benefit of being an immersive technology that simulates an everyday activity. The aim of this study was to describe the prevalence of team-based visits in the Swedish CHS and possible associations between team-based visits and contextual factors that may affect its implementation. A national cross-sectional survey was conducted using a web-based questionnaire distributed to all reachable nurses, physicians, and psychologists (n =3,552) engaged in the CHS. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and binary and multivariate logistic regressions. The response rate was 32%. Team-based visits were reported by 82% of the respondents. For nurses and physicians, the most frequent indication was specific ages, while for psychologists it was to provide parental support.
