This study provides evidence that nonpunitive responses to inadequate grades and cognitive stimulation at home are linked to academic achievement among African American adolescents.Radiology teaching file repositories contain a large amount of information about patient health and radiologist interpretation of medical findings. Although valuable for radiology education, the use of teaching file repositories has been hindered by the ability to perform advanced searches on these repositories given the unstructured format of the data and the sparseness of the different repositories. Our term coverage analysis of two major medical ontologies, Radiology Lexicon (RadLex) and Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine Clinical Terms (SNOMED CT), and two teaching file repositories, Medical Imaging Resource Community (MIRC) and MyPacs, showed that both ontologies combined cover 56.3% of terms in the MIRC and only 17.9% of terms in MyPacs. Furthermore, the overlap between the two ontologies (i.e., terms included by both the RadLex and UMLS SNOMED CT) was a mere 5.6% for the MIRC and 2% for the RadLex. Clustering the content of the teaching file repositories showed that they focus on different diagnostic areas within radiology. The MIRC teaching file covers mostly pediatric cases; a few cases are female patients with heart-, chest-, and bone-related diseases. The MyPacs contains a range of different diseases with no focus on a particular disease category, gender, or age group. MyPacs also provides a wide variety of cases related to the neck, face, heart, chest, and breast. These findings provide valuable insights on what new cases should be added or how existent cases may be integrated to provide more comprehensive data repositories. Similarly, the low-term coverage by the ontologies shows the need to expand ontologies with new terminology such as new terms learned from these teaching file repositories and validated by experts. While our methodology to organize and index data using clustering approaches and medical ontologies is applied to teaching file repositories, it can be applied to any other medical clinical data.Sports betting products rely upon a balance between their knowledge and chance based structural characteristics. The sample included n = 35 participants classified into three groups patients with current GD, patients with GD in remission, and a control group without GD. Implicit emotional expressions were evaluated through a serious videogame (Playmancer) and explicit emotions were measured through self-reports. Patients in the current GD group had, compared to the remission and control groups, lower levels of implicit emotion expression and higher levels of explicit emotion expression. The patients in GD remission group endorsed better emotion regulation capacity in comparison to patients with current GD. Whole-body PET is not effective for local staging of cancer because of their declining efficiency in detecting small lesions. The preliminary results of the performance evaluation of designed dedicated breast PET scanner presented. METHODS AND MATERIALS A new scanner is based on LYSO crystals coupled with SiPM, and it consists of 14 compact modules with a transaxial FOV of 180 mm in diameter. In this study, initial GATE simulation studies were performed to predict the spatial resolution, absolute sensitivity, noise equivalent count rate (NECR) and scatter fraction (SF) of the new design. Spatial wobbling acquisitions were also implemented. Finally, the obtained projections were reconstructed using analytical and iterative algorithms. RESULTS The simulation results indicate that absolute sensitivity is 1.42% which is appropriate than other commercial breast PET systems. The calculated SF and NECR in our design are 20.6% and 21.8 kcps. The initial simulation results demonstrate the potential of this design for breast cancer detection. CONCLUSION The performance of the dedicated breast PET scanner is considered to be reasonable enough to support its use in breast cancer imaging.PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to present the novel MRI findings of palatine gland lesion-associated IgG4-related disease (PGL-IgG4-RD) and to compare the imaging features with those in normal individuals. MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively evaluated the MRI scans of 12 patients with PGL-IgG4-RD and 12 control individuals. We measured the thickness of the palatal regions and calculated the T2-weighted signal intensity ratio of palatal regions to cerebral white matter (HWR) and compared them between the PGL-IgG4-RD and control groups. RESULTS In univariate analysis, the HWR of the palatal regions on T2-weighted imaging was smaller in the PGL-IgG4-RD group than in the control group (average = 1.2 vs. 1.9, p less then 0.001). The palate thickness in patients with PGL-IgG4-RD was significantly greater than that in controls (average = 12 vs 6 mm, p less then 0.001). The cut-off value of the between-group palate thickness on coronal MRI was 8 mm. CONCLUSION The thickening of the palatal regions seen with low signal intensity on T2-weighted imaging may be a characteristic imaging feature of PGL-IgG4-RD.
