dysfunction in LOPD patients.Pityriasis versicolor (PV) is a chronic skin disease caused by virulence activities of Malassezia, a genus of skin-associated yeasts. Traditionally, Tioconazole is used as a topical antifungal for curing PV. Previous investigations cited that human amniotic membrane (HAM), a placental tissue, has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activities and is useful as a dressing for healing skin lesions. Moreover, tea tree oil (TTO) has a potent antifungal efficacy. This clinical trial aims to achieve an alternative therapeutic treatment able to kill Malassezia and heal PV lesions using TTO-saturated HAM (TOSHAM), with little application times. This study subjected 120 patients with hypopigmented or hyperpigmented PV lesions; half patients were treated weekly with TOSHAM compared with the others who applying 1% Tioconazole cream daily as a traditional treatment. Microbiological evaluation of in vitro fungicidal activity of TOSHAM versus Tioconazole was carried out against Malassezia furfur culture. Rucaparib The clinical outcomes of this study proved the superior activity of TOSHAM to heal PV lesions than Tioconazole; this was in harmony with microbiological findings. This study approached a novel therapeutic treatment of PV with great outcomes by using TOSHAM.The ultimate goal of organ regenerative therapy is to reproduce fully functional organs to replace which have been damaged as a result of diseases or injury. Although several studies claimed that using different types of cells in some animal models promote hair follicles regeneration, more researches can be done to develop a sufficient and efficient protocol to induce hair generation from different animal models. In this study, we investigated the therapeutic potentials for hair follicle formation by injecting a mixture of epidermal stem cells and dermal papilla cells. Those cells were isolated and culture-expanded. Then we randomly allocated 8 nude mice into two groups. The experiment group received an injection of a mixture that containing of epidermal stem cells and dermal papilla cells. The control group received injection of keratinocyte serum-free medium. The hair follicles regeneration was observed and the injection area was harvested for HE staining. 14 day later, the regenerated hair shafts were observed and HE staining indicated that the newly hair follicle formed the correct structures in experiment group. Furthermore, the mixture injection induced a regular and multilayered stratified epidermis and the epidermis contained of hair follicle-likes structures. Our data showed that injection of a mixture of epidermal stem cells and dermal papilla cells could induce hair follicles regeneration and well-ordered epidermis formation. This study emphasized that the rearrangement of the interactions during seed cells and the niches of the seed cells is essential and necessary for tissue-engineered construct success. The present study evaluated revascularization time of fresh and cryopreserved cat ovarian tissue after transplantation to subcutaneous tissue. Ovaries of five cats were used and eight pieces of ovarian tissue were taken from each pair of ovaries. Immediately after removal, three pieces were transplanted and one fixed for fresh control. The remaining four pieces were cryopreserved and, after thawing, one was fixed for cryopreservation control and three were transplanted. Grafts were recovered on days 2 (D2), 4 (D4) and 6 (D6) post-transplantation. Blood vessels were identified by immunohistochemistry and doppler ultrasound. Immunohistochemistry showed that the percentages of total tissue area occupied by blood vessels were similar (P > 0.05) in fresh and cryopreserved tissues. In both cases, blood vessel area was significantly higher (P  less then  0.05) on D4 and D6 compared to D0. Ultrasound analysis showed vascularization improvement on the periphery of grafts from D2 to D4 and from D4 to D6, both in fresh and cryopreserved tissue samples. Nonetheless, there was a significant decrease (P  less then  0.05) in the percentage of morphologically normal follicles (MNF) after transplantation compared to non-transplanted tissue (D0), both for fresh and cryopreserved samples. Moreover, the number of follicles found in samples was considerably smaller after grafting. In conclusion, revascularization of ovarian tissue autotransplanted to subcutaneous tissue in domestic cats occurs within 4 days after transplantation, both for fresh and cryopreserved tissue. However, large follicular loss has been observed in the first days post-transplantation, especially in cryopreserved tissues. The use of umbilical cord blood (UCB) holds promise for the treatment of a wide spectrum of diseases. However, information on UCB donation is not widespread or accurate among expectant women. The aim of this study is to evaluate pregnant women's knowledge of UCB donation, their main sources of information and their satisfaction with the knowledge possessed. Women (N = 375) in the last semester of pregnancy completed questionnaires evaluating sociodemographics, knowledge of UCB donation, past donation, sources of information, satisfaction with the information and the desire to have received more information. Women were aware of the possibility of donating UCB (97.5%) although, on average, they reported not having enough knowledge of donation possibilities, procedures to be followed and uses of UCB (2.51, on a 5-point scale). Considering knowledge satisfaction, 28% were not at all satisfied. Only 2.8% felt fully prepared and the great majority (75.2%) would have liked to have received more information. The main source of information was the Internet (51.2%). Gynecologists and midwives were indicated by only 24.4% and 18.6% of women, respectively. Age and education were significantly correlated with UCB knowledge. Chi-square tests evidenced that those who reported professional sources of information (gynecologists, obstetricians, prenatal courses) did not need additional information. Conversely, mothers who turned to other mothers for information were more likely to desire further information. Most mothers report the Internet as the main source of information. Providing accurate information through official sources may result in a more positive attitude toward donation.
