This is also the reason behind levers found in many everyday tools such as crowbars, fishing rods, claws for hammers, and even your own legs when you stand on the hand brake of your vehicle.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles, also referred to as upvc door handles have levers on each side to operate the multipoint locks. They come in a variety of designs and finishes and are suitable for a range of materials, including UPVC, Aluminium & Timber doors. They are sold in pairs for the inner and exterior door with screws and spindles included. They are available both unhanded and handed versions to accommodate different types of users.

They can be used to replace the existing doors made of upvc. The levers are lifted to open all multipoint locks and the key is turned to close or unlock the door. They provide a bit more security than standard lever door handles, as the locking can only be done from the inside using the key.

They are not as safe as a cylinder lock, but they're an affordable way to increase the security of your home. The only drawback is that they do not offer the same level of protection like a cylinder lock and so don't prevent external access to your home if the door is left open.

Snib buttons can cause problems in certain situations, particularly when you have locks that are old and doors that are warped. If the snib is applied in a mistake, or by a person who isn't quite used to it, the door may close and shut you out. You can usually gain entry by knocking the door frame or the letterbox. However this isn't a good idea.

If your uPVC door is equipped with a snib-button it is recommended to replace the handle with a contemporary E-LOK 7-Series smart lock. These smart locks can be retrofitted onto double turn pull handle kits. They are available with coverplates to hide holes that are already present to ensure an easy installation. The E-LOK utilizes a smart app to enable you to unlock the door using RFID cards or mechanical keys and can be configured with passcodes for secure entry and convenience. The system has been tested for 200,000 cycles to ensure its durability. The handles are constructed of solid metal and meet BS EN 1670 Grade 5 for resistance to corrosion.

Lever/Moveable Pad

This popular handle design is commonly used on front doors. It has the advantage of preventing the door being opened without a key from the outside in the event that the lock has not been deadlocked. This is achieved with a 'pad-shaped' external handle that locks into the gap between the handle and lock case.

This handle is designed to work with uPVC multipoint locks that use a split spindle mechanism. This kind of operation requires that the lever handle and external pad handle are both fitted to the same lock case. This could be a straightforward switch from the current uPVC handles but it may also require changing the lock case or a brand new set of handle furniture to allow for this additional functionality.

These aluminum levers and movable pad door handles are ideal for uPVC doors and feature a maintenance free slide bearing fixing lugs, spring cassettes and fixing lugs supplied. These handles feature a euro-profile cut out, and can be mounted on various uPVC or doors made of timber.

The lever-movable pad is available in various designs to fit a broad range of multipoint locks. They are designed to be used with split spindle multipoint locks with an 92mm cylinder center and require a specific split spindle set as supplied by the lock maker.

It has two inline handles that can be moved and can be locked using either a key or thumbturn cylinder on the inside. A pad handle can be used as an alternative to lever/lever handles. It consists of either one that is fixed or moveable which can be used to operate the lock.
