World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

When a player upgrades an item, they have to spend Gold to do so. The cost of upgrading an item depends on its current level as well as the type of upgrade selected. Rerolling upgraded items is only possible if the item was upgraded was an Epic, Rare or Unique. Extraordinary items can also be rerolled but the original stats are replaced with a flat-rate bonus. Rerolling a Rare or Epic item will produce the normal version, and rerolling the Epic version will result in an elite version.

A newly upgraded item could come with additional modifiers, which can further increase its stats and boost its performance. These additional modifiers aren't included in the upgrade cost. By selecting the item and pressing the green button, which has an arrow for rerolling, a player can roll it into an upgradeable item. This will change the layout of the item's window, and allow players to select up to six items to "recycle". The item will be replaced by one of the level 1 items. Recycled items will not keep their status, nor will the resources used to upgrade them.

The maximum upgrade level of an item is determined by the item's tier as well as its quality.
