The top pivot of the bifold closet door could become loose and scratch the floor. This can be corrected by loosening the screw that holds the top bracket.

The pivot pin on the top is a screw made of metal that is inserted into a plastic cap that has a lipped end that stays inside the track above the door. You'll also require a screwdriver, or perhaps a pair pliers.

Bifold doors are ideal for maximizing space in closets, but they can start to buckle or scrape the floor, or even pop out of their brackets. There are solutions to most issues by making a few simple adjustments.

The most common problem is the bottom pin that is loose or falls out of its bracket. You can adjust this by depressing the spring-loaded wheel at the top of the door and swinging the door in a position to align it with the bottom track. Once the gap is even then tighten the screw that holds the top pivot point bracket in order to hold the door in place.

The most frequent issue is the bottom edge of the door scrapes against the carpet. It could be due to the addition of carpet or other flooring materials. It can also be caused by an uneven gap between the door and side jambs of the hinge. This can be fixed by loosening the top guide and sliding it sideways or removing the pivot point on top and move it in or out.

The final common issue is when the upper track is misaligned with the door frame and this can be fixed by loosening the screw on the top of the set and shifting it in or out as needed. After you've adjusted all the nuts and bolts holding the track in place, you'll be able to slide it back into its track bracket and secure it using the screw.

To remove the bottom pin from the bracket, lift the panels a bit and then hold them together. If the bracket with the lowest has locking levers, let them go and release them to let the pin go. If the pin does not come with a mounting bracket, you can attach a screw with a flat head between the bottom of the pivot flange and door to pry the pin out of the door. Once you've got an ensconced grip on the pin, twist it left to right while pulling it out of the door. If you're unable to remove the pin, you could have to take the entire panel from the track system. If this is the case, put it on a set of saw horses to make it easier to move.
