This study aimed to assess the reliability of pressure derived fractional flow reserve (FFR) measurement and the handling performance of the OptoWire Deux with an optical pressure sensor relative to both the PressureWire X and the Verrata Pressure wire with piezoresistive pressure sensors.
This single centre study included 80 patients between October 2016 and May 2017 undergoing a diagnostic coronary angiography. The reliability of FFR measurement measured with the OptoWire Deux relative to the PressureWire X and Verrata Pressure wire was assessed by the presence of drift. Drift was defined as a Pd/Pa measurement different from 1.00 ± 0.02 when pulled back after a FFR measurement at the location of the initial equalisation. Handling characteristics for all pressure wires were assessed qualitatively with respect to the PressureWire Aeris.
Ninety-eight measurements in 78 patients were performed; two patients were excluded because the lesion could not be crossed. Very stable and reliable FFR measurements with the optical sensors were registered, relative to the piezoresistive pressure sensors. Drift was found in 11%, 37%, and 33% of the measurements for OptoWire Deux, PressureWire X, and Verrata Pressure wire respectively. The handling performance of the OptoWire Deux was better rated for steerability and torqueability in relation to the standard FFR wire. The handling of the PressureWire X was rated equally good whereas the handling of the Verrata pressure wire was rated inferior in relation to the standard FFR wire.

In the present study, RNA-seq of an Fusarium verticillioides isolate exhibiting resistance to 120 mM glyphosate revealed gene expression occurring in the presence of glyphosate and led to the identification and screening of candidate genes. A transcriptome analysis revealed 5,548 and 5,361 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the glyphosate resistant (GR) Fusarium verticillioides isolate treated with 45 and 90 mM glyphosate, respectively. The gene ontology (GO) pathways associated with these differentially expressed genes primarily included metabolic process, amine metabolic process, cellular aromatic compound metabolism and stress response. The primary Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) metabolic pathways included biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, carbon metabolism, glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, and nitrogen metabolism. The glyphosate degradation-related gene fv04, which belongs to the 3-isopropylalate dehydratase of the aconitase superfamily, was cloned to generate the prokaryotic expression vector pET-29b-fv04, which could be stably expressed in E. coli and promote the degradation of 52.3% of 500 mg/L glyphosate in 72 h. The results of the present study provide new ideas and insights for the acquisition of glyphosate resistance resources.We present a new mobile platform to be used in clinical trials aimed at both collecting data and assessing new technologies and treatments for diabetes care. The main components of the platform are a mobile app, that automatically collects data from continuous glucose monitoring sensors and activity trackers, and also allows users to manually log daily events; a cloud database for safe data storage; a web interface, which allows clinicians to monitor patients' status in real-time. The platform is modular and highly customizable for a multitude of purposes in clinical research. Preliminary tests performed for daily-life data gathering by both clinicians and users are extremely encouraging.
To evaluate structural changes in the anterior chamber and intraocular pressure (IOP) changes following intravitreal dexamethasone implantation.
Forty-two eyes of 42 patients that received intravitreal dexamethasone implant for the management of macular edema secondary to diabetic retinopathy or branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) were included in the study. IOP was measured by Goldmann applanation tonometry. Anterior chamber depth (ACD) and iridocorneal angle (ICA) was measured by a Scheimflug camera (Sirius, CSO, Italy) the day before the injection of the dexamethasone implant and on postoperative day 1, first week, and first month.
Mean IOP was 15.14 ± 2.77 mmHg before the procedure and, 15.67 ± 3.70 mmHg, 15.86 ± 3.11 mmHg, 16.21 ± 2.75 mmHg on day 1, first week, and first month following intravitreal dexamethasone implantation, respectively. Mean ICA and ACD were significantly higher in pseudophakic eyes compared to phakic eyes. However, there was no statistically significant change in ICA before and after the procedure (on postoperative day 1, first week, and first month) among both phakic and pseudophakic patients (
= 0.783). Similarly, ACD remained unchanged after the procedure (on postoperative day 1, first week, and first month) compared to the initial measurement (
= 0.802).

We've learned in the last half dozen years that the future of all artificial pancreas systems holds higher time in range, less work required to manage automated insulin delivery systems to improve quality of life, and the ability to input critical information back into the system itself. The data and user experience stories make it clear APS works. APS are an improvement over other diabetes therapy methods when they are made available, accessible, and affordable. Understanding the unmet expectations of current users of first generation APS technology may also aid in the development of improved technology and user experiences for the future of APS.
