This has caused great public concern, particularly in the shallow freshwater lake region, where the lake, rivers, and estuaries form a highly interconnected continuum. However, little is known about the environmental behaviors of PFAAs in the continuum. For the first time, a high-resolution monitoring framework covering the river-estuary-lake continuum of Luoma Lake was built, and the concentrations, sources, and environmental fates of PFAAs were identified and analyzed. The results revealed that the total concentration of PFAAs was at a moderate level in the water and at a high level in the sediment compared to global levels respectively. Perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) was the most abundant PFAA in the continuum. In particular, the ∑PFAA concentration in the particle phase was much higher than that in the sediment phase. Distinct spatial heterogeneities were observed in the behaviors of distribution and the multiphase fate of PFAAs in the continuum, mainly driven by the turbulent mixing during transport, dilution of lake water, and spatial differences of hydrodynamic features and sedimentary properties among the sub-regions. Interestingly, the pH of the sediment and water had significant effects on the water-sediment portioning of PFAAs in contrasting ways. Furthermore, based on the composition of the sediments, four possible migration paths for PFAAs were deduced and the main sources of PFAAs were identified as sewage, domestic, and industrial effluents using the positive matrix factorization model. A 62-day experiment was conducted by capping with modified calcium peroxide ceramsite (MCPC) at different addition dosages (from 11 to 14, the ratio of mobile P in sediment to MCPC). P disappearance and release were expressed by the dissolved inorganic P (DIP) in overlying water. The results show that the proportion of disappeared P in released P was reduced sharply from 44% (Control) to 2% (14) under the capping with MCPC. Under the capping, the concentrations of DIP and Fe(Ⅱ) in pore water decreased markedly compared with the control, the removal up to 71.6% and 59.3% (mean, P less then 0.05), respectively. The bioavailable P (BAP) presented the obvious decline under the capping with MCPC, which indicates the inhibition on the algae growth. The algae available P (AAP), water soluble P (WSP) and readily desorbable P (RDP) were reduced obviously at the 12 ratio compared with the other ratios. However, the comprehensive variations of dEfOM by photo- and bio-degradation are not well unveiled because of its compositional heterogeneity. In this work, dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentrations, UV-Vis and fluorescent spectra combined with fluorescence regional integration (FRI) analysis were used to investigate the changes in bulk dEfOM and its fluorescent components during photo- and bio-degradation processes in the receiving water body. Results showed that 48.49%-69.62% of the discharged dEfOM was decomposed by ultra violet (UV)-irradiation and indigenous microbes, while the others (33%-45%) were recalcitrant and stable in the receiving water body. Specifically, the photo- and bio-degradation of chromophoric, fluorescent dEfOM and its components were found to follow the single or double exponential kinetic model, and the differences in photo- and bio-degradability of each components shifted its composition. Furthermore, results of bio-degradation after UV-irradiated dEfOM indicated that there was overlapping of photo- and bio-degradable fractions in dEfOM, and photoreactions could improve the self-production of natural organic matter in the receiving water body. link3 These results could improve the understanding the fate of discharged dEfOM in the receiving water body, and we proposed some cost-effective strategies for discharging WWTPs effluent.

The birth cohort included 18,669 pregnant women who were pregnant between 2014 and 2017 in Tongzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Beijing, China. The predicted PM

concentration was matched with the residential addresses of each woman. The fetal abdominal circumference (AC), head circumference (HC), femur length (FL) and estimated fetal weight (EFW) were evaluated via ultrasonography, while birth weight was measured at birth. The fetal parameters and birth weight were standardized as gestational-age- and gender-adjusted Z-score. We defined undergrowth of fetal parameters, low birth weight (LBW) and small-for-gestational-age (SGA) as categorized outcomes. Durable tumor regressions are observed in a subset of advanced-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients receiving PD-1/-L1 targeted immune checkpoint inhibitors (or 'immunotherapy') alone or in combination with chemotherapy. However, the majority of advanced NSCLC patients receiving these agents do not experience long-term disease control. Existing methods to identify patients most likely to gain clinical benefit from PD-1/-L1 immunotherapy have limitations, creating a need for improved methods to guide treatment selection, particularly for those likely to benefit from single-agent immunotherapy. Here, we describe the development of a series of novel assays for tumor-associated autoantibodies as part of an exploratory study intended to determine if these biomarkers have potential prognostic value in this setting.
