The water concentrations of 12 heavy and other metals/metalloids were analyzed seasonally along two horizontal-flow constructed wetlands (CWs) (Tancat Mília-TM and Tancat l'Illa-TLI) located within the Mediterranean Albufera de València Natural Park during 2020-2021. A wide-scope screening of pesticides present in waters was also performed. The two CWs were created to improve water quality and increase biodiversity. They currently receive effluent waters from two different tertiary-treatment wastewater plants, and the water flows along the CWs before being discharged into the main lagoon and a smaller lagoon in TM and TLI, respectively. TLI manages to reduce (Mn) or maintain the concentration of most of the studied elements (Zn, Ni, Hg, Cr, Fe Cd, Cu) at the same level as outside (67%). Only Al, Pb, B, and As remain at a higher concentration. TM also reduces Zn and Cu and keeps the concentration of Cr, Cd, and Hg (representing 42%). Al, Pb, B, and As remain at higher concentrations, as in TLI, but Ni, Fe, and Mn are also at higher concentrations. Although both CWs vary in their ability to remove elements, no risks to human health or the environment have been detected due to the low metal concentration in their outlets, all of them (except Hg) below the legal limits for environmental quality in the European Union. With the detection of 71 compounds in water in each CW area (26 herbicides, 26 insecticides, and 19 fungicides in TLI, and 29 herbicides, 23 insecticides, and 19 fungicides in TM), we also provide evidence of the impact of pesticides, which depends on the application method (helicopter, tractor), originated from areas with high agricultural pressure (chiefly rice crops) on systems (mainly TM) created to preserve biodiversity. Nevertheless, both systems provide crucial environmental services in water quality in this agrolandscape. The glass particles were coated with Spirulina sp. LEB-18 and bioblends of Spirulina sp. LEB-18/chitosan by casting technique and, afterward, it was verified its potential as adsorbents for basic and acid dyes. Nine Spirulina sp. suspensions with different components were used to coat the glass particles, and in the best condition of coating were prepared the bioblends with chitosan. The coated glass particles with Spirulina sp. and its bioblends with chitosan were applied in adsorption of the allura red (acid) and methylene blue (basic) dyes in a batch operation evaluate the pH effect, and a fixed bed column operation, being evaluated to the removal percentage and adsorption capacity of the column. The glass particles coated with Spirulina sp. applied in batch adsorption showed the highest removal percentages for allura red dye (35 to 45%) at pH 4.0, and for methylene blue dye (35 to 80%) at pH 6.0 and 8.0. In fixed bed column using glass particles coated with bioblends were reached the amount dye of 54.2 mg of adsorbed allura red dye and 60.2 mg of the of adsorbed methylene blue dye, respectively. check details Moreover, it was found good dye adsorption capacities, around 89 mg g-1, for both dyes, in acidic and basic pH values. Based on these results, these bioblends coated glass particles can be applied as an adsorbent for different types of dyes in adsorption column. The hazardous dyes on mixing with water resources are affecting many life forms. Granite stone is popular worldwide for decorating floors, making other forms of decorative materials and items. Granite stone powder waste can be obtained free of cost from marble factories as factories spend on the disposal of this waste. In the present study, novel granite stone powder waste composite has been prepared and utilized for the effective removal of Terasil dye. Two types of granite including gray granite and white granite were used in pure, calcinized, and chemically modified forms. Freundlich adsorption isotherm model best explained the adsorption mechanism of dye removal using granite composites as compared to other adsorption isothermal models. Characterization techniques like scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy were used for the determination of morphological features and functional groups of granite composites. The obtained results were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) along with the post hoc Tukey test. An extraordinarily high Terasil dye uptake capacity (more than 400 mg/g) was exhibited by granite composites prepared using sodium metasilicate. The synthesized novel nano-constructed composites provided a viable strategy as compared to the pure granite stone for dye removal from wastewater water. In this paper, we investigate the convergence in ecological footprint per capita across the ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) countries from 1968 to 2017. For this aim, we apply a panel Fourier threshold unit root test recently proposed by Yilanci et al. (2021). This methodology considers both multiple smooth structural changes and nonlinearity, which allows us to get more reliable results. The results of the study support the evidence of nonlinearity for the series, so we test the null of divergence in a nonlinear framework. Since test statistics are statistically significant, we conclude that there is global convergence for the sample. Besides, we find that the type of convergence is absolute, which supports the view that the ecological footprint of the ECOWAS countries will equalize in the long run, and the emission allocation policies should be given priority by policymakers. This paper reviews the improvement in the field of catalytic hydrogenation of 2-ethylanthraquinone to 2-ethylanthrahydroquinone for the successful production of hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is being used in almost all industrial areas, particularly in the chemical industry and in environmental protection, as the most promising oxidant for cleaner and environmentally safer processes. A variety of hydrogenation catalysts have been introduced for hydrogenation of 2-ethylanthraquinone in the production of hydrogen peroxide via anthraquinone (AQ) process. The aim of the present study is to describe the catalysts used in the hydrogenation of 2-ethylanthraquinone and the reaction mechanism involved with different catalytic systems. The hydrogenation of 2-ethylanthraquinone using metals, alloy, bimetallic composite, and supported metal catalyst with the structural modifications has been incorporated for the production of hydrogen peroxide. The comprehensive comparison reveals that the supported metal catalysts required lesser catalyst amount, produced lower AQ decay, and provided higher catalyst activity and selectivity. Furthermore, the replacement of conventional catalysts by metal and metal alloy-supported catalyst rises as a hydrogenation trend, enhancing by several times the catalytic performance. As one of the renewable energy power generation methods, wind power generation shows a high growth trend. However, while wind power is connected to the grid, the volatility and instability of wind power make the power system produce a lot of uncertain fluctuations, which greatly affects the power quality and jeopardizes the stable operation of the power system. Therefore, high wind speed forecasting accuracy can provide a solid basis for grid management, improve the power system's ability to consume wind power, and ensure the safety and stabilization of the power system. In order to solve the problem of inaccurate prediction caused by the non-linearity and unsteadiness of wind speed series, this paper proposes a Fractal Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition (FEEMD)-Permutation Entropy (PE)-Sparrow Search Algorithm (SSA)-Error Back Propagation (BP) neural network method for short-term wind speed prediction. This method first uses FEEMD to decompose the original wind speed in order from high to low frequency; then calculates the entropy value of each component, and merges the components with similar entropy values to effectively reduce the computation; and finally, the new sub-series are predicted by SSA-BP model, and the predicted value of the merged new sub-sequences are accumulated to obtain the final wind speed prediction results. The simulation study shows that the proposed prediction model is not only fast and accurate, but also suitable for short-term wind speed prediction.Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were reduced on the surface of magnetic sporopollenin (Fe3O4@SP) modified with poly-dopamine to enhance the degradation capability for Rhodamine B (RhB). The polydopamine-coated Fe3O4@SP (PDA@ Fe3O4@SP) acts as a self-reducing agent for Ag+ ions to Ag0. The structural properties of the synthesized nanocomposite were determined using Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The systematic study of the degradation process was performed using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to determine the relationship between the four process variables, namely, initial RhB concentration, NaBH4 amount, catalyst amount, and time. Optimum points were determined for these four parameters using both matrix and numerical optimization methods. Under optimum conditions, RhB was decolorized with a yield of 98.11%. The apparent activation energy (Ea) and rate constant (k) for the degradation were 24.13 kJ/mol and 0.77 min-1, respectively. The reusability studies of the Ag@PDA@Fe3O4@SP exhibited more than 85% degradation ability of the dye even after five cycles. As a result, Ag@PDA@Fe3O4@SP possessed high catalytic activity, fast reduction rate, good reusability, easy separation, and simple preparation, endowing this catalyst to be used as a promising catalyst for the decolorization of dyes in aqueous solutions.Green credit is a financial service that potentially mitigates the impact of environment problems such as climate change, one of the greatest challenges of our time. The effectiveness of a policy that promotes green credit, however, remains controversial. We use China's "Green Credit Guidelines" in 2012 as a quasi-natural experiment to identify the causal impact of green credit policy (GCP) on enterprise sustainability performance (ESP), which integrates the financial and environmental social responsibility performance of heavily polluting firms. Our PSM-DID analysis shows that GCP significantly improves ESP, especially among the small and private highly polluting firms and firms located in regions with a higher level of marketization. Furthermore, GCP leads to more green innovation which, together with government subsidies, plays a positive moderating role between GCP and ESP. Our results have important policy implications. The study's primary purposes were to assess the sustainability of hazelnut farms and explore the effects of part-time and full-time farming types on sustainability in hazelnut production in the Giresun and Ordu Province of Turkey. One hundred fifty-two hazelnut farms were selected using the stratified sampling method, and data were collected by using face-to-face questionnaires. Several steps were taken, including using factor analysis after standardizing the variables to determine their weights to calculate the composite hazelnut farms' sustainability index. The research findings showed that overall hazelnut sustainability scores of farms varied from 0.28 to 0.59, and the average score was 0.44 at sampled farms. The composite hazelnut sustainability index was at an unsatisfactory level. The social and economic sustainability index values of farms were equal, and they were higher than the environmental index value. The values were 0.50 and 0.30, respectively. The economic sustainability index score of full-time farms was higher than that of part-time farms, and part-time farms had higher environmental sustainability index scores than that of full-time farms.
