This descriptive, comparative study examined differences of job embeddedness (JE) scores between RNs and health care assistants (HCAs) in acute care facilities. Generational differences for JE scores were also compared. A convenience sample of RNs and HCAs from medical and surgical units at two Texas hospitals completed the surveys. RNs valued community sacrifices significantly higher than HCAs. Total JE scores between baby boomers and millennials were significantly different, while organizational links scores among all three generations showed statistical significantly differences. Organizational fit, organizational sacrifice, and level of education added statistical significance to the prediction of job satisfaction.Anti-effeminacy bias follows a specific pattern with men showing stronger anti-effeminacy bias against male targets than women. Previous explanations focused on men's higher tendency to stigmatize feminine men as homosexual and motives to maintain a dominant group status. Here, we suggest that certain expressions of anti-effeminacy bias may rather be a manifestation of men's reputation management motives for coalition formation, and be amplified among high (vs. low) masculine honor-oriented men. In three studies with samples from the United Kingdom and Turkey, we showed that men perceived feminine (vs. masculine) male targets as lower on coalitional value and were more reluctant to befriend them, yet this applied only to high (not low) honor-oriented men. Honor-oriented men's friendship reluctance was mediated by concern with losing reputation by association with targets lacking coalitional value. These findings extend understanding of anti-effeminacy bias by drawing attention to men's reputation concerns for coalitional reasons and individual differences.
To inform cognitive interventions that target functional capacity for individuals who have survived stroke, an evaluation of predictors of daily functioning is necessary. The current literature is limited regarding identifying the associations between objective cognitive functioning and objective performance of Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs).
To investigate the relationship between objectively measured cognitive domains/executive functions and performance on an objective measure of IADLs following a stroke.
Cross-sectional examination of 52 participants who have survived strokes and completed assessments of immediate memory, visuospatial/constructional skills, language, attention, delayed memory, executive functions (i.e., inhibition and flexibility, concept-formation and problem-solving, abstract thinking, deductive thinking, and verbal abstraction), and a performance-based measure of IADLs (UCSD Performance-based Skills Assessment; UPSA).
Results indicated significant correlations between the UPSA and immediate memory, visuospatial/constructional skills, language, delayed memory, and executive functions (i.e., concept formation and problem-solving, flexibility of thinking, and verbal abstraction). A hierarchical multiple regression, controlling for age, severity of stroke, side of stroke, and depressive symptoms and including the cognitive measures individually significantly associated with the UPSA, explained approximately 62% of the variance in overall UPSA performance. This regression demonstrated that only language significantly predicted UPSA total score, in the context of multiple variables.

In two earlier studies, an auditory test battery and a data-driven approach that allow classifying hearing-impaired listeners into four auditory profiles were developed. Here, we explored potential interactions between the four auditory profiles and HA outcome as assessed with three different measures (speech recognition, overall quality, and noise annoyance) and six HA processing strategies with various noise reduction, directionality, and compression settings.
