Water oxidation is the bottleneck reaction in artificial photosynthesis. Exploring highly active and stable molecular water oxidation catalysts (WOCs) is still a great challenge. Herein, a water-soluble Ni(II) complex bearing redox non-innocent tetraamido macrocyclic ligand (TAML) is found to be an efficient electrocatalyst for water oxidation in neutral potassium phosphate buffer (KPi). Controlled potential electrolysis experiment shows that it can sustain at a steady current of ~0.2 mA cm -2 for >7 hours at 1.75 V vs. normal hydrogen electrode (NHE) without the formation of NiO x . Electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical tests show that the redox-active ligand, as well as HPO 4 2- in the buffer, participated in the catalytic cycle. More importantly, catalytically active intermediate [Ni III (TAML 2- )=O] is formed via several proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) process and react with H 2 O with the assistance of base to release molecular oxygen. Thus, the employment of redox non-innocent ligands is a useful strategy for designing effective molecular WOCs. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Results revealed that a wide variation in concentrations of various metals in caps and stems samples collected from the two forests. Toxic metallic elements such as As, Cd, Hg and Pb showed preferential accumulation in caps than stems samples from both the forests.  However, the concentrations of Cd, Hg and Pb in the mushroom samples were below the established weekly intake tolerance limits. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. In the current work, we report, for the first time, about the development of a thin layer chromatography-based bioautography which can be used to rapidly detect arginase inhibitors in complex matrices such as plant extracts. The assay is based on the detection of urea produced by arginase using the colouring reagent α-isonitrosopropiophenone, resulting in the formation of a pink background on thin layer chromatography plates. The assay conditions were optimized in order to provide sufficient contrast between the pink coloured thin layer chromatography plate and the clearer zones generated by the presence of arginase inhibitors. Different parameters were tested, such as incubation time and temperature, atmospheric conditions, as well as substrate and enzyme concentrations. This technique makes it possible to detect 0.1μg of a known arginase inhibitor, Nω -hydroxy-nor-Arginine, after it has been spotted, either pure or mixed with a Myrtus communis methanolic fruit extract, and the plate has been developed in an appropriate solvent. The newly developed method was used to reveal the presence of an inhibitor in hempseed cakes (Cannabis sativa L.). DNA inhibitor This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. These compounds were investigated using in-vitro tests involving the two human cell lines HL-60 and MOLM-13 that both modelling acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). The in-vitro biological test results were used together with the molecular structures of the various intermediates in a concise SAR analysis. Several of the intermediates revealed cytotoxicity ( IC 50   less then  10 - 4  M), while the final natural product carbazomycin G did not reveal cytotoxicity versus the two said human cell lines. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. We provide a practical strategy to reorganize pathways of emergency and elective colorectal surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHOD The authors, all from areas affected by the COVID-19 emergency, brainstormed remotely to define the key-points to be discussed. Tasks were assigned, concerning specific aspects of colorectal surgery during the pandemic, including the administrative management of the crisis in Italy. The recommendations (based on experience and on the limited evidence available) were collated and summarized. RESULTS Little is known about the transmission of COVID-19, but it has shown a rapid spread. It is prudent to stop non-cancer procedures and prioritize urgent cancer treatment. Endoscopy and proctological procedures should be performed highly selectively. When dealing with colorectal emergencies, a conservative approach is advised. Specific procedures should be followed when operating on COVID-19-patients, using dedicated personal protective equipment and adhering to specific rules. Some policies are described, including minimally-invasive surgery. These policies outline the strict regulation of entry/ exit into theatres and operating building as well as advice on performing procedures safely to reduce risk spreading the virus. It is likely that a reorganization of health system is required, both at central and local levels. A description of the strategy adopted in Italy is provided. CONCLUSION Evidence on the management of patients needing surgery for colorectal conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic is currently lacking. Lessons learnt from healthcare professionals that have managed high volumes of surgical patients during the pandemic could be useful to mitigate some risks and reduce exposure to other patients, public and healthcare staff. We present a case whereby multimodality imaging, including 3D printing, played a pivotal role in planning a technically feasible approach for complex percutaneous coronary intervention of a chronically occluded anomalous right coronary artery, with creation of a customized guide catheter. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc."The biggest problem that scientists face is global warming … I am waiting for the day when someone will discover using renewable energy to replace all the fossil energy …" Find out more about Tong-Bu Lu in his Author Profile. © 2020 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. However, its mechanism remains elusive. The pathological and physiological characteristics of FGF21 are observed in both patients with AP and cerulein-induced AP models, and the mechanisms of FGF21 in response to AP are investigated by evaluating the impact of autophagy in FGF21-treated mice and cultured pancreatic cells. Circulating levels of FGF21 significantly increase in both AP patients and cerulein-induced AP mice, which is accompanied by the change of pathology in pancreatic injury. Replenishment of FGF21 distinctly reverses cerulein-induced pancreatic injury and improves cerulein-induced autophagy damage in vivo and in vitro. Mechanically, FGF21 acts on pancreatic acinar cells to up-regulate Sirtuin-1 (Sirt1) expression, which in turn repairs impaired autophagy and removes damaged organs. In addition, blockage of Sirt1 accelerates cerulein-induced pancreatic injury and weakens the regulative effect in FGF21-activated autophagy in mice. These results showed that FGF21 protects against cerulein-induced AP by activation of Sirtuin-1-autophagy axis. © 2020 The Authors. There is scant literature regarding aligning organizational culture with EBP implementation and even less for unit and organizational culture. The Nursing EBP Survey examines individual, unit, and organizational factors to better understand registered nurses' (RN) self-reported EBP. AIMS Establish and confirm factor loading, reliability, and discriminant validity for the untested Nursing EBP Survey. METHODS The study employed a descriptive cross-sectional survey design and was targeted for RNs. The setting included 14 hospitals and 680 medical offices in Southern California. The 1999 instrument consisted of 22 items; 7 items were added in 2005 for 29 items. The questionnaire used a 5 point, Likert-type scale. The survey website opened in November 2016 and closed after 23 weeks. Psychometric testing and factor determination used parallel analysis, exploratory factor ana support improvement in evidence-based outcomes and tailors future EBP initiatives. link2 © 2020 Sigma Theta Tau International. The fly agaric, Amanita muscaria , is widely known for its content of the psychoactive metabolites ibotenic acid and muscimol. However, their biosynthetic pathway and the respective enzymes are entirely unknown. 50 years ago, the biosynthesis was hypothesized to start with 3-hydroxyglutamate. Here, we build on this hypothesis by the identification and recombinant production of a glutamate hydroxylase from A. muscaria . The hydroxylase gene is surrounded by six further biosynthetic genes, which we link to the production of ibotenic acid and muscimol using recent genomic and transcriptomic data. Our results pinpoint the genetic basis for ibotenic acid formation and thus provide new insights into a decades-old question concerning a centuries-old drug. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
