The clathrate-I borosilicide K8-xBySi46-y (0.8 ≤x≤ 1.2 and 6.4 ≤y≤ 7.2; space group Pm3[combining macron]n) was prepared in sealed tantalum ampoules between 900 °C and 1000 °C. By high-pressure preparation at 8 GPa and 1000 °C, a higher boron content is achieved (x = 0.2, y = 7.8). Crystal structure and composition were established from X-ray diffraction data, chemical analysis, WDX spectroscopy, and confirmed by 11B and 29Si NMR, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The compositions are electron-balanced according to the Zintl rule within one estimated standard deviation. The lattice parameter varies with composition from a = 9.905 Å for K7.85(2)B7.8(1)Si38.2(1) to a = 9.968(1) Å for K6.80(2)B6.4(5)Si39.6(5).A facile and single-step nickel oxide-dispersed in situ grown 3-D graphitic forest engrained carbon foam (NiO-CNF-CF)-based electrode was fabricated for high-performance microbial fuel cells (MFCs). The metal oxide, graphitic contents, biocompatibility, stability and large surface area available in the material for biofilm formation rendered the prepared electrode competent for wastewater treatment and bioenergy (0.79 V and 1.955 W m-2) generation with a coulombic efficiency of 85.66%.An ionothermal reaction of lanthanoid salts with tetraethyl-p-xylenediphosphonate (tepxdp) in ionic liquids, such as choline chloride and malonic acid, resulted in the formation of three novel lanthanoid-organic coordination networks with the formula [Ln(H2pxdp)1.5]n Ln = Tb (1), Dy (2) and Ho(3) and H4pxdp = p-xylenediphosphonic acid. The structures, photoluminescence and magnetic properties of the three compounds were investigated in detail. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the three compounds are isostructural and the Ln3+ ions show an unusual six-coordinate environment with the LnO6 octahedron. In these compounds, each PO3C tetrahedron is corner-shared with two LnO6 octahedra and each LnO6 octahedron is corner-shared with six PO3C tetrahedra, thus forming an inorganic layer in the crystallographic ab plane. The inorganic layers are further connected by a phenyl group, leading to a three-dimensional framework. Compound 1 exhibits the strong and characteristic emission of TbIII with an impressive quantum yield of 46.2%. Detailed magnetic analysis demonstrated that compound 2 displays a slow magnetic relaxation of magnetization with multiple relaxation mechanisms. The anisotropic energy barrier and the pre-exponential factor τ0 are 51.2 K and 3.9 × 10-7 s, respectively, in the presence of a direct-current field of 500 Oe. This work demonstrates a successful strategy to isolate octahedrally coordinated lanthanoid complexes through ionothermal synthesis to exhibit the single-ion-magnet-like behaviour and photoluminescence properties.A convenient and efficient approach to (E)-alkylsulfonyl olefins via a metal/light-free three-component reaction of alkenylboronic acids, sodium metabisulfite and Katritzky salts is described. This alkylsulfonylation proceeds smoothly with a broad substrate scope, leading to diverse (E)-alkylsulfonyl olefins in moderate to good yields. During the process, excellent functional group tolerance is observed and sodium metabisulfite is used as the source of sulfur dioxide. Mechanistic studies show that the alkyl radical generated in situ from Katritzky salt via a single electron transfer with alkenylboronic acid or DIPEA is the key step for providing an alkyl radical intermediate, which undergoes further alkylsulfonylation with sulfur dioxide.Herein, we present the rational synthesis of a multimode photothermal agent, NGO-FA-CuS, for the advancement of photothermal therapy of cancer. The hierarchical architecture created in NGO-FA-CuS was attained by the covalent conjugation of folic acid (FA) to nanographene oxide (NGO) through amide bonding, followed by the hydrothermal deposition of CuS nanoflowers. In this approach, instead of mere mixing or deposition, FA was covalently bonded to NGO, which helped in retaining their intrinsic properties after binding and allowed to access them in the resulting hybrid nanostructure. In this specifically designed photothermal agent, NGO-FA-CuS, each component has an explicit task, i.e., NGO, FA and CuS act as the quencher, cancer cell-targeting moiety and photothermal transduction agent, respectively. compound library inhibitor Prior to the grafting of FA molecules and the deposition of CuS nanoflowers, sulfonic acid groups were introduced into NGO to provide stability under physiological conditions. Under irradiation using a 980 nm lasetration of NGO-FA-CuS and the incubation period.Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) is an essential approach to convert coal, biomass, and shale gas into fuels and chemicals, such as lower olefins, gasoline, diesel, and so on. In recent years, there has been increasing motivation to deploy FTS at commercial scales which has been boosting the discovery of high performance catalysts. In particular, the importance of support in modulating the activity of metals has been recognized and carbonaceous materials have attracted attention as supports for FTS. In this review, we summarised the substantial progress in the preparation of carbon-based catalysts for FTS by applying activated carbon (AC), carbon nanotubes (CNTs), carbon nanofibers (CNFs), carbon spheres (CSs), and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) derived carbonaceous materials as supports. A general assessment of carbon-based catalysts for FTS, concerning the support and metal properties, activity and products selectivity, and their interactions is systematically discussed. Finally, current challenges and future trends in the development of carbon-based catalysts for commercial utilization in FTS are proposed. The idea that neoplasms grow, becoming unresectable through dissemination, which is initially loco-regional, and systemic only in a later stage, is historically at the basis of the radical surgery - where, by 'radical', the old surgery meant the complete removal of the tumor and, in practice, aggressive surgery. Halsted's "radical mastectomy", as well as many principles of surgical anatomy of the first decades of the twentieth century, obey to an idea of tumor progression as a linear process taking place in continuity and contiguity, where the various anatomical layers and the peritumoral desmoplastic reaction are mistaken for a wall of defense against the neoplasm's dissemination, capable of containing and orienting it. However, the investigations of the processes of invasion and metastasis by Rudolf Virchow and Stephel Paget helped to reorient surgical approaches.
