Chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), psoriasis, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are characterized by systemic as well as local tissue inflammation, often with a relapsing-remitting course. Tissue-resident memory T cells (TRM) enter non-lymphoid tissue (NLT) as part of the anamnestic immune response, especially in barrier tissues, and have been proposed to fuel chronic inflammation. TRM display a distinct gene expression profile, including upregulation of CD69 and downregulation of CD62L, CCR7, and S1PR1. However, not all TRM are consistent with this profile, and it is now more evident that the TRM compartment comprises a heterogeneous population, with differences in their function and activation state. Interestingly, the paradigm of TRM remaining resident in NLT has also been challenged. T cells with TRM characteristics were identified in both lymph and circulation in murine and human studies, displaying similarities with circulating memory T cells. This suggests that re-activated TRM are capable of retrograde migration from NLT via differential gene expression, mediating tissue egress and circulation. Circulating 'ex-TRM' retain a propensity for return to NLT, especially to their tissue of origin. Additionally, memory T cells with TRM characteristics have been identified in blood from patients with chronic inflammatory disease, leading to the hypothesis that TRM egress from inflamed tissue as well. The presence of TRM in both tissue and circulation has important implications for the development of novel therapies targeting chronic inflammation, and circulating 'ex-TRM' may provide a vital diagnostic tool in the form of biomarkers. This review elaborates on the recent developments in the field of TRM in the context of chronic inflammatory diseases.The aim of this study is to evaluate if screen time and parents' education levels are associated with adherence to a Mediterranean dietary pattern. This cross-sectional study analyzed a representative sample of 3333 children and adolescents (8 to 16 years) included in the Physical Activity, Sedentarism, lifestyles and Obesity in Spanish youth (PASOS) study in Spain (which ran from March 2019 to February 2020). Data on screen time (television, computer, video games, and mobile phone) per day, Mediterranean diet adherence, daily moderate or vigorous physical activity, and parents' education levels were gathered using questionnaires. A descriptive study of the variables according to sex and parents' education level was performed. Logistic regression models (adjusted by sex and weight status) were fitted to evaluate the independent association between screen time and Kids' level of adherence to the Mediterranean diet (KIDMED) index, as well as some of its items. A greater amount of screen time was associated with worse adherence to the Mediterranean diet; a lower consumption of fruit, vegetables, fish, legumes, and nuts; and a greater consumption of fast food, sweets, and candies. A lower parents' education level was associated with worse adherence to the Mediterranean diet. It is necessary to promote the responsible, limited use of screen time, especially in children with parents with a lower education level.The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the mental health of employees. The purpose of the study is to examine what factors influence job satisfaction in the context of remote work caused by a pandemic. The study analyses whether employee relations and interpersonal trust are related to the level of perceived job satisfaction. The investigation started with a literature review and then research hypotheses have been formulated. Based on an empirical study, carried out on a sample of 220 IT employees during the pandemic, an analysis of the mediating role of trust in links between employee relations and perceived job satisfaction was conducted. The current study found that positive employee relations contribute to the level of job satisfaction. Additionally, trust is an important factor that mediates these relationships. Recent advances in biological technologies have been advancing the delineation of genetic, epigenetic, and non-genetic factors that contribute to the heterogeneities of these cancers. In this review article, we discuss new findings that are greatly improving the understanding of thyroid cancer biology and facilitating the identification of novel targets for therapeutic intervention. We review the phenotypic features of different subtypes of thyroid cancers and their underlying biology. We discuss recent discoveries in thyroid cancer heterogeneities and the critical mechanisms contributing to the heterogeneity with emphases on genetic and epigenetic factors, cancer stemness traits, and tumor microenvironments. We also discuss the potential relevance of the intratumor heterogeneity in understanding therapeutic resistance and how new findings in tumor biology can facilitate designing novel targeting therapies for thyroid cancer.
