albicans-infected ALI tissues and macrophages. Moreover, macrophages transfected with miR-384-5p mimic exhibited reduced levels of PGC1β. The suppression of the expression of PGC1β by C. albicans infection in the macrophages was abrogated by miR-384-5p inhibitor. Then, we demonstrated that PGC1β played an inhibitory role in C. albicans-induced production of inflammatory cytokines. Furthermore, suppression of miR-384-5p in macrophages inhibited the activation of the NF-κB, MAPK, and Akt signaling pathways triggered by C. albicans, but not the STAT3 pathway. These results demonstrate that miR-384-5p contributes to C. check details albicans-induced ALI at least in part by targeting PGC1β and enhancing the activation of the NF-κB, MAPK, and Akt inflammatory signaling pathways. Thus, targeting miR-384-5p might exert a protective effect on C. albicans-induced ALI.Plasticity is an essential property of clay that determines its suitability for water filtration. There are no published works on the plastic behavior of clays from the study locations. The plastic behavior of seven Nigerian clays was examined using plasticity indices and compressive stress parameters in relation to chemical compositions and moisture content. The objective is to determine plastic behavior of some Nigerian clays and their suitability in production of Expanded Clay Aggregates (ECA) for water filters. Compressive stresses and deformation parameters were determined experimentally and compared theoretically. Atterberg limits (D 4318) were used to determine the plasticity indices. Chemical compositions of the samples were examined with XRF and correlated with plasticity and mineral contents of the clays. The clays are aluminosilicates with SiO2/Al2O3 ratio of 1.61 to 3.03 and plastic indices of 8 to 49. Low plastic indices (8-11) and low compressive stresses parameters were observed for kaolinite clays (0.002 MPa) due to their low affinity for water while zeolite rich clays showed high plastic indices (46 and 49) for Obowo and Minna and sharp difference in their compressive stresses parameters (0.15 and 0.03 MPa) at optimum moisture contents of 57% and 53%, respectively. Despite varying moisture content, chemical and mineral compositions, all curves showed similar trends apart from kaolinites at 40% moisture content. Relationships exist among microstructural properties, chemical composition, moisture content, compressive strength, and plasticity indices of the clays. The plastic behaviors show they are suitable for development of ECA for water filters.Emergency management is conceptualized as a complex, multi-objective optimization problem related to facility location. However, little research has been performed on the horizontal transportation of emergency logistics centres. This study makes contributions to the multi-objective locating abrupt disaster emergency logistics centres model with the smallest total cost and the largest customer satisfaction. The IABC algorithm is proposed in this paper to solve the multi-objective emergency logistics centres locating problem. IABC algorithm can effectively calculate the optimal location of abrupt disaster emergency logistics centres and the demand for relief materials, and it can solve the rescue time satisfaction for different rescue sites. (1) IABC has better global search capabilities to avoid premature convergence and provide a faster convergence speed, and it has optimal solution accuracy, solution diversity and robustness. (2) From the three optimal objective function values obtained, the optimal objective function values obtained by IABC algorithm are obviously better than ABC and GABC algorithms. (3) From the convergence curves of three objective functions the global search ability and the stability of IABC algorithm are better than those of ABC and GABC algorithm. The improved ABC algorithm has proven to be effective and feasible. However, emergency relief logistics systems are very complex and involve many factors, the proposed model needs to be refined further in the future.

Percutaneous lower extremity revascularization is being performed via upper extremity, pedal, or popliteal access with increasing frequency. This study aimed to compare periprocedural outcomes of popliteal (POA) and upper extremity (UEA) access for the treatment of isolated superficial femoral artery (SFA) occlusive disease.

A retrospective cohort study compared the outcomes of patients undergoing primary percutaneous intervention of SFA occlusive disease with POA or UEA using the Vascular Quality Initiative database from December 2010 to June 2019. Our primary endpoint was technical success. Secondary endpoints included factors associated with perioperative complications.

A total of 349 patients underwent isolated SFA intervention through the popliteal, radial, or brachial artery. UEA was performed in 188 (53.9%) patients and POA in 161 (46.1%). Technical success with TASC A lesions was 95.8% and with TASC D lesions, 65.0%. POA had a higher proportion of TASC D lesions (24.8% vs 10.6%, p<0.001), andEA and POA when treating isolated SFA occlusive disease, and UEA is associated with a higher complication rate. Technical success is dependent on calcification and TASC II classification. Based on similar technical success rates and low complication rates, POA should be considered as a viable alternative to UEA when planning endovascular interventions.

There is no difference in technical success between UEA and POA when treating isolated SFA occlusive disease, and UEA is associated with a higher complication rate. Technical success is dependent on calcification and TASC II classification. Based on similar technical success rates and low complication rates, POA should be considered as a viable alternative to UEA when planning endovascular interventions. The sugarcane cystatin (CaneCPI-5) was recently cloned and showed strong binding force to dental enamel and protection against initial erosion. However, evaluations on its safety and efficacy in a situation closer to the clinical condition are necessary. In the present study we analyzed 1) the cytotoxicity of CaneCPI-5 on human gingival fibroblasts (HGFs); 2) the ability of CaneCPI-5 to reduce enamel erosion and erosion+abrasion in situ. In part 1, HGFs were treated with CaneCPI-5 (0.025, 0.05, 0.1, 0.5 or 1.0 mg/mL) or no treatment (control). The cytotoxicity was assessed after 60 s and 24 h by mitochondrial activity (MTT), confocal microscopy, and hematoxylin/eosin staining. In part 2, 15 volunteers participated in a double-blind crossover protocol consisting of 3 phases, according to the following treatments 1) 0.1 mg/mL CaneCPI-5; 2) SnCl2/NaF/AmF (Elmex; positive control); 3) water (negative control). The volunteers wore an appliance containing 4 bovine enamel specimens for 5 d. Each day, the specimens were individually treated with 50 µL of the tested solutions per 60 s and then subjected to erosive challenges (0.
