Background With the development of positive psychology, several studies show that positive and negative emotions are not always opposing. Understanding how positive and negative emotions correlate and the factors contributing to resilience in stroke survivors requires further research. Objectives To identify the patterns and correlations of stigma, depression, and posttraumatic growth (PTG) among stroke survivors. Methods Stroke-related stigma, depression, PTG, and neurological status were evaluated at 1-month and 3 months post-stroke using the Stroke Stigma Scale (SSS), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Chinese version of the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (C-PTGI), modified Rankin Scale (mRS), and Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS). The paired t-test, nonparametric test, and Spearman's correlation test were used to analyze differences and relationships between results at the two time points. Results At 3 months compared to 1-month post-stroke, we found significant reductions in mRS and stigma scores, and an increase in PTGI scores, while the PHQ-9 scores reduced non-significantly. SSS, PHQ-9, and mRS scores were positively correlated with each other at time1 (all P .05) at 3 months. Conclusions Stroke-related stigma is strongly associated with depression while neither of them has significant relationships with PTG during the early stage of survivors' rehabilitation in our study. Neurological impairment is a risk factor for negative emotions and increasing individualized support may reduce stigma, depression, and promote PTG in the long term. This review aimed to summarise the validity and reliability of feeding difficulties assessment tools for Individual with dementia. GSK2879552 cost PubMed, PsycINFO, MEDLINE, CINAHL and Scopus were searched for feeding difficulty measurements studies published between 1990 and 2019. Sixteen publications were included and identified three tools Edinburgh Feeding Evaluation in Dementia (EdFED), Feeding Behaviour Inventory (FBI), and Feeding Difficulty Index (FDI). Results showed the EdFED was translated and tested in various languages. The EdFED and FDI demonstrated high content and construct validity. The FBI was not validated. The EdFED had high inter-rater reliability, with Cronbach's alpha ranging from 0.75 to 0.90. The FDI and FBI showed moderate inter-rater reliability. Although the EdFED has been tested and widely used, unlike FDI, which addresses multi-aspects of feeding difficulty. The FDI have higher clinical utility but future research needs to test the psychometric properties of FDI to determine its effectiveness in assessing feeding difficulties.Heart transplantation is the final life-saving therapeutic strategy for many end-stage heart diseases. Long-term immunosuppressive regimens are needed to prevent allograft rejection. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) have been shown as immunomodulatory therapy for organ transplantation. However, the effect of dose and timing of MSC treatment on heart transplantation has not yet been examined. In this study, we infused three doses (1 × 106, 2 × 106, or 5 × 106 cells) of human MSCs (hMSCs) to the recipient BALB/c mice before (7 days or 24 h) or after (24 h) receiving C57BL/6 cardiac transplants. We found that infusion of high dose hMSCs (5 × 106) at 24 h post-transplantation significantly prolonged the survival time of cardiac grafts. To delineate the underlying mechanism, grafts, spleens, and draining lymph nodes were harvested for analysis. Dose-dependent effect of hMSC treatment was shown in (1) alleviation of International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) score in grafts; (2) reduction of the population of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells; (3) increase of regulatory T (Treg) cells; (4) and decrease of serum levels of inflammatory cytokines and donor-specific antibodies. Taken together, we showed timing critical and dose-dependent immunomodulatory effects of hMSC treatment against acute allograft rejection in a mouse model of heart transplantation. Background 14.9 million women (≥15 years) in Tanzania are at risk of developing cervical cancer. Limited cancer care facilities, prevention programs and sparse knowledge among community members and healthcare workers contribute to late-stage presentation leading to a high mortality rate. Objective This study aims to scientifically accompany prevention and awareness campaigns (PrevACamp) in northern Tanzania in its real-world settings to obtain (1) a better understanding about cervical cancer and HPV knowledge amongst female PrevACamp participants and (2) to determine the prevalence of pre-cancerous lesions among women undergoing cervical cancer VIA screening. Method Cross-sectional survey among PrevACamp attendees in two regions in Northern Tanzania. Two data collections tools were used Questionnaires and clinical data from VIA screening. Data were collected from October 2017 to March 2019. Results 2,192 PrevACamp attendees were interviewed and 2,224 received VIA screening. There was significant nescience on cervical cancer regardless of education level, resident status, or number of children as well as nescience on HPV in all age groups, especially in urban areas and misconceptions about cancer. Screening revealed VIA positivity rate of 3.1%. Conclusion There is an alarming lack of knowledge about cervical cancer and, to a lesser Extent, about HPV among the study participants. Having health insurance influenced the level of knowledge significantly. Outreach programs in rural areas appear to target the population in need of health education. Low positive VIA screening results are paralleled with lower HIV rates among the women. We assume that the high density of primary health care coverage in northern Tanzania contributes to these findings..

To describe the management, technical nuances, and success rates of transoral robotic surgery (TORS)-assisted sialolithotomy.

Retrospective database review.

Quaternary academic medical center.

Between the months of January 2015 and May 2019, patients with hilar submandibular gland stones underwent 2 main variations of TORS-assisted sialolithotomy and sialendoscopy (1) TORS followed by sialendoscopy for patients with palpable predominantly single stones and (2) either sialendoscopy followed by TORS and sialendoscopy or sialendoscopy followed by TORS only for patients with nonpalpable or multiple stones. Clinical charts were reviewed to collect data, including stone size (imaging review, intraoperative measurement), palpability, duration of operation, TORS variation, operative challenges, symptom improvement, gland preservation rate, and complications.

Thirty-seven patients were identified. Patients were 26 to 80 years old (mean, 57.2 years), and 40.5% were female. Twenty-four patients (64.9%) underwent TORS followed by sialendoscopy; 10 (27.
