We examined the effects of two direct-fed microbial (DFM) products containing multiple microbial species and their fermentation products on ruminal metatranscriptome and carboxyl-metabolome of beef steers. Nine ruminally-cannulated Holstein steers were assigned to 3 treatments arranged in a 3 × 3 Latin square design with three 21-d periods. Dietary treatments were (1) Control (CON; basal diet without additive), (2) Commence (PROB; basal diet plus 19 g/d of Commence), and (3) RX3 (SYNB; basal diet plus 28 g/d of RX3). Commence and RX3 are both S. cerevisiae-based DFM products containing several microbial species and their fermentation products. Mixed ruminal contents collected multiple times after feeding on day 21 were used for metatranscriptome and carboxyl-metabolome analysis. Partial least squares discriminant analysis revealed a distinct transcriptionally active taxonomy profiles between CON and each of the PROB and SYNB samples. Compared to CON, the steers fed supplemental PROB had 3 differential (LDA ≥ plementation with either PROB or SYNB altered the ruminal fermentation pattern. In addition, supplemental PROB reduced concentrations of metabolic products of fatty acid peroxidation and amino acid degradation. Future studies are needed to evaluate the significance of these alterations to ruminal fatty acid and amino acid metabolisms, and their influence on beef cattle performance.Creative employees are treasured assets for organizations. However, relatively little is known about what specific actions employees can take to manage their own creative process. Taking a motivational perspective, this study examined how job crafting behaviors positively link to employee creative performance through work engagement, and whether perceived work group status diversity moderates this relationship. We conducted a weekly diary study in which 55 employees from a Chinese energy company were asked to fill in diaries over four consecutive weeks (176 observations in total). WS6 Results of the multilevel analyses showed that weekly job crafting behaviors were positively related to weekly creative performance through increasing weekly work engagement. In contrast to our expectation, we found that weekly job crafting behaviors were more positively related to weekly creative performance when perceived work group status diversity was high. In summary, our study suggests that job crafting behaviors are effective actions employees can take to manage their creative processes through increasing work engagement. link2 In addition, we stress that status diversity in existing work environments is an important contextual factor that shapes the job crafting process. The purpose of this paper was to investigate the effect of a training state-of-the-art convolution neural network (CNN) for millimeter-wave radar-based hand gesture recognition (MR-HGR). Focusing on the small training dataset problem in MR-HGR, this paper first proposed to transfer the knowledge with the CNN models in computer vision to MR-HGR by fine-tuning the models with radar data samples. Meanwhile, for the different data modality in MR-HGR, a parameterized representation of temporal space-velocity (TSV) spectrogram was proposed as an integrated data modality of the time-evolving hand gesture features in the radar echo signals. The TSV spectrograms representing six common gestures in human-computer interaction (HCI) from nine volunteers were used as the data samples in the experiment. The evaluated models included ResNet with 50, 101, and 152 layers, DenseNet with 121, 161 and 169 layers, as well as light-weight MobileNet V2 and ShuffleNet V2, mostly proposed by many latest publications. In the experiment, not only self-testing (ST), but also more persuasive cross-testing (CT), were implemented to evaluate whether the fine-tuned models generalize to the radar data samples. The CT results show that the best fine-tuned models can reach to an average accuracy higher than 93% with a comparable ST average accuracy almost 100%. Moreover, in order to alleviate the problem caused by private gesture habits, an auxiliary test was performed by augmenting four shots of the gestures with the heaviest misclassifications into the training set. This enriching test is similar with the scenario that a tablet reacts to a new user. The results of two different volunteer in the enriching test shows that the average accuracy of the enriched gesture can be improved from 55.59% and 65.58% to 90.66% and 95.95% respectively. Compared with some baseline work in MR-HGR, the investigation by this paper can be beneficial in promoting MR-HGR in future industry applications and consumer electronic design.Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are mesenchymal, fibroblastic tumors with mostly favorable, but still unpredictable prognosis. Their rarity and occurrence at a variety of locations coupled with variable histological appearance make the diagnosis a challenge. This can be resolved by histological and immunohistochemical analysis on the histologic material eventually coupled with demonstration of NAB2-STAT6 gene fusion by next generation sequencing (NGS) analysis. Tumor removal with clear surgical margins is sufficient for complete cure in most cases. Percutaneous transcatheter embolization in well-vascularized lesions may minimize the risk of bleeding during subsequent removal. In this article we present a rare case of SFT arising from the external auditory canal and treated with preoperative endovascular arterial embolization. A literature review with focus on diagnostics and treatment of this entity in the head and neck region is following.Whitebacked planthopper (WBPH) is a pest that causes serious damage to rice in Asian countries with a mild climate. WBPH causes severely rice yield losses and grain poor quality each year so needs biological control. Plants resist biotic and abiotic stress using expressing variety genes, such as kinase, phytohormones, transcription factors, and especially secondary metabolites. In this research, quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping was performed by assigning the WBPH resistance score in the Cheongcheong/Nagdong doubled haploid (CNDH) line in 2018 and 2019. The RM280-RM6909 on chromosome 4 was detected as a duplicate in 2018, 2019, and derived from Cheongcheong. This region includes cell function, kinase, signaling, transcription factors, and secondary metabolites that protect plants from the stress of WBPH. The RM280-RM6909 on chromosome 4 contains candidate genes that are similar to the flavanone 3-hydroxylase (F3H) of rice. The F3H are homologous genes, which play an important role in biosynthesis defending against biotic stress in plants. After WBPH inoculation, the relative expression level of F3H was higher in resistant line than in a susceptible line. The newly identified WBPH resistance gene F3H by QTL mapping can be used for the breeding of rice cultivars that are resistant against WBPH.In this paper, the multi-state synchronization of chaotic systems with non-identical, unknown, and time-varying delay in the presence of external perturbations and parametric uncertainties was studied. The presence of unknown delays, unknown bounds of disturbance and uncertainty, as well as changes in system parameters complicate the determination of control function and synchronization. During a synchronization scheme using a robust-adaptive control procedure with the help of the Lyapunov stability theorem, the errors converged to zero, and the updating rules were set to estimate the system parameters and delays. To investigate the performance of the proposed design, simulations have been carried out on two Chen hyper-chaotic systems as the slave and one Chua hyper-chaotic system as the master. Our results showed that the proposed controller outperformed the state-of-the-art techniques in terms of convergence speed of synchronization, parameter estimation, and delay estimation processes. The parameters and time delays were achieved with appropriate approximation. Finally, secure communication was realized with a chaotic masking method, and our results revealed the effectiveness of the proposed method in secure telecommunications.Recently, both single modality and cross modality near-duplicate image detection tasks have received wide attention in the community of pattern recognition and computer vision. Existing deep neural networks-based methods have achieved remarkable performance in this task. However, most of the methods mainly focus on the learning of each image from the image pair, thus leading to less use of the information between the near duplicate image pairs to some extent. In this paper, to make more use of the correlations between image pairs, we propose a spatial transformer comparing convolutional neural network (CNN) model to compare near-duplicate image pairs. Specifically, we firstly propose a comparing CNN framework, which is equipped with a cross-stream to fully learn the correlation information between image pairs, while considering the features of each image. Furthermore, to deal with the local deformations led by cropping, translation, scaling, and non-rigid transformations, we additionally introduce a spatial transformer comparing CNN model by incorporating a spatial transformer module to the comparing CNN architecture. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method on both the single-modality and cross-modality (Optical-InfraRed) near-duplicate image pair detection tasks, we conduct extensive experiments on three popular benchmark datasets, namely CaliforniaND (ND means near duplicate), Mir-Flickr Near Duplicate, and TNO Multi-band Image Data Collection. link3 The experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve superior performance compared with many state-of-the-art methods on both tasks. The worldwide incidence of skin cancer has risen rapidly in the last decades, becoming one in three cancers nowadays. Currently, a person has a 4% chance of developing melanoma, the most aggressive form of skin cancer, which causes the greatest number of deaths. In the context of increasing incidence and mortality, skin cancer bears a heavy health and economic burden. Nevertheless, the 5-year survival rate for people with skin cancer significantly improves if the disease is detected and treated early. Accordingly, large research efforts have been devoted to achieve early detection and better understanding of the disease, with the aim of reversing the progressive trend of rising incidence and mortality, especially regarding melanoma. This paper reviews a variety of the optical modalities that have been used in the last years in order to improve non-invasive diagnosis of skin cancer, including confocal microscopy, multispectral imaging, three-dimensional topography, optical coherence tomography, polarimetry, self-mixing interferometry, and machine learning algorithms. The basics of each of these technologies together with the most relevant achievements obtained are described, as well as some of the obstacles still to be resolved and milestones to be met.Increasing active school travel (AST) among children may provide the required level of daily physical activity and reduce the prevalence of obesity. Despite efforts to promote this mode, recent evidence shows that AST rates continue to decrease in suburban and urban areas alike. The aim of this research study, therefore, is to facilitate our understanding of how objective and perceived factors near the home influence children's AST in an understudied city, İstanbul, Turkey. Using data from a cross-sectional sample of students aged 12-14 from 20 elementary schools (n = 1802) and consenting parents (n = 843), we applied a nominal logistic regression model to highlight important predictors of AST. The findings showed that street network connectivity (as measured by two novel space syntax measures, metric reach and directional reach) was the main deciding factor for active commuting to school, while parents' perceptions of condition of sidewalks and shade-casting street trees were moderately significant factors associated with AST.
