Breast-conserving surgery plus postoperative radiotherapy is the standard surgical treatment mode for early breast cancer. Currently, there are no clear predictive indicators to determine whether a patient can choose breast-conserving surgery, which mainly depends on the surgeon's clinical experience and subjective judgment. Cone-beam breast computed tomography (CBBCT) reconstructs the breast 3D image from three mutually perpendicular angles, helping surgeons to locate and accurately measure the volume of the tumor, mammary gland, and breast. We used CBBCT to retrospectively measure the tumor-to-gland volume ratio and tumor-to-breast volume ratio in breast cancer cases. Then, we analyzed the correlation between the surgical methods and ratios in breast cancer patients.

We collected 100 patients undergoing breast-conserving surgery as the study group, and 100 patients undergoing mastectomy as the control group. All patients chose the surgical approach after comprehensive consideration of examination result surgery to help surgeons.

The tumor-to-gland volume ratio and tumor-to-breast volume ratio measured using CBBCT are correlated with the choice of surgical methods (breast-conserving surgery or mastectomy) for breast cancer patients. This can be used as possible predictor of breast-conserving surgery to help surgeons.

Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. The aim of this study was to explore the prognostic significance of prolyl-4-hydroxylase α subunit 2 (P4HA2) in patients with EOC.

A total of 217 clinical samples (EOC tissues, 167 cases; normal ovarian, 50 cases) were collected and pathologically confirmed using hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. P4HA2 expression in clinical samples was stained by immunohistochemistry (IHC). Relationship between P4HA2 expression and clinicopathological characteristics of EOC patients were analyzed using chi-square test. The differential expression of targets was analyzed in Oncomine database. The prognostic value of P4HA2 was investigated in clinical EOC patients and Kaplan-Meier (KM) Plotter database.

IHC staining showed that P4HA2 was significantly up-regulated in EOC tissues, compared to the normal tissues. Two databases retrieved from Oncomine database further confirmed the up-regulation P4HA2 in EOC. Chi-square test demonstrateEOC progression, and has the potential to be a valuable therapeutic target for EOC.Giant cell tumor of bone (GCTB) is a rare, benign, but locally aggressive bone tumor. It has a high tendency for local recurrence, which may increase the incidence of lung metastasis. Currently, an optimal treatment strategy has not been established because of the rarity of pulmonary metastatic GCTB. Denosumab is the preferred regimen for unresectable metastatic lesions; however, there are no alternative treatment options when patients are resistant to denosumab. Apatinib is a small-molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor that selectively competes for the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR-2) ATP binding site, and several studies have analyzed the effectiveness of apatinib in advanced or metastatic tumors. MLN0128 nmr However, there is no report of apatinib as an anti-angiogenesis therapy for pulmonary metastatic GCTB to date. Here, we present a case of a 26-year-old female who was diagnosed with recurrent and pulmonary metastatic GCTB. Immunohistochemical (IHC) staining indicated that the tumor cells were positive for VEGFR-2. Denosumab was administered to control the metastases; nevertheless, disease progression was confirmed after four months of treatment. Given the IHC results and rapid disease progression, apatinib was added to the treatment strategy. After 42 months of treatment, the patient showed noticeable symptomatic improvement and considerable tumor shrinkage.

The patients with advanced mismatch repair deficiency (dMMR) cancers can benefit from programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) pathway blockade, regardless of the tumor type. Little is known about the prevalence of dMMR in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CC). This study aimed to assess the mismatch repair (MMR)-related protein expression in patients with ICC and cHCC-CC.

Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tumor specimens were obtained from patients undergoing surgery at the West china Hospital between 2009 and 2017. The immunoreactions for MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, and PMS2 were investigated to determine the MMR status.

A total of 97 patients were evaluated, including 73 ICC patients and 24 cHCC-CC patients. The prevalence of dMMR was only found in two cases of 97 patients (2.06%). Both patients are ICC. In 24 cHCC-CC patients, no dMMR was observed. They did not receive an adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery. At the end of the follow-up, one patient was in a tumor-free state, and the other patient had local recurrence and metastasis. After receiving sintilimumab (an immune checkpoint inhibitor [ICI] for PD- 1), the patient had a partial response.

DMMR was detected in few patients with ICC and cHCC-CC. Thus, it is not recommended to routinely evaluate the MMR status of patients with ICC or cHCC-CC after surgery, but that of patients with advanced ICC or cHCC-CC should be assessed.

The aim of this study was to explore the global research trends of herbal medicine for pain from 1990 to 2019, using bibliometric methods, and explore international collaborations, intellectual structure, the evolution of active topics, emerging trends, and research frontiers.

Articles on herbal medicine for pain were retrieved from WoSCC. Two information visualization softwares including CiteSpace and HistCite were used to process bibliographic catalogs. Identification of international collaborations, intellectual structure, the evolution of active topics, emerging trends, and research frontiers were performed based on results from bibliometric analysis.

A total of 2986 original articles published between 1990 and 2019 were identified based on the inclusion criteria. The number of publications on herbal medicine for pain in WoSCC significantly increased. China ranked highest in the number of scientific outputs; however, articles with the highest citation rates were found to be from the United States. China-Japan reported the most active collaborations, whereas Kyung Hee University from South Korea was the most productive institution.
